  1. I gotta say, I LOOOVE finding J.Crew consignment. My running list so far:

    *a floral perfect shirt $17.50
    *a gray silk/linen short-sleeve cardi $5.75
*an olive silk henley cami $11.50
    *the gilded tweed mini $15.00
    *the dolce tweed mini $8.50
*the navy sequin slouchy tee $10

I remember a JCA already mentioned this, and I recommend it highly! I'm sure all you ladies have some nice consignment shops around where J.Crew loot is sure to abound!

    1. Me too, although I rarely see anything. I found a madras mini-skirt and a plum-colored Jackie cardigan this summer, though :) I hope the stuff I dropped off will be a fun find for someone.

    2. I've certainly supplied my local consignment shop w/lots of JC goodies others have been able to snag. But sadly, I'm never that lucky.

    3. I avoid consignment shops, they are usually too expensive for what you get. Yes, I am that cheap. But I reluctantly went to Clothes Mentor the other day and came away with two NWT pairs of J.Crew bootcut cords from fall 2009, in size 6 Tall (miracle of all miracles), for $8 each! It made me so happy. So yeah, if you have the time to shop thrift stores and the like, you do occasionally find a good deal. My best ever was a velvet bella for $19.99 at the upscale Goodwill boutique (basically they filter out all the "good" stuff that comes in and send it to that particular store).

Who the hell would donate a bella to Goodwill!?!?!?

  2. Surprise love for the Double-Cloth Slim Trench (Caribbean Pink). I was warned it was nice, but I was still surprised I liked it so much. I have never tried a coat in this fabric before, it feels great and has some stretch. This color is also surprisingly nice. The only change I would make if I were J. Crew would be to make the belt a little bit longer. I like to tie the belt and there is barely enough length for that.

  3. yesterday I was sitting next to a friend who is even older than I am at a sad occasion. As we waited for the service to start, she whispered "Wasn't MO's speech wonderful last night?"
"Yes," I said, "and this morning I had three emails about her shoes before breakfast."
"Oh, yes, J.Crew," came the reply.
Guess what? Us old bats ARE Dear Leader's target demographic, whether he likes it or not.
Although I would like to find a polite way to tell the young woman who did my blow-dry yesterday that stripes are not really a neutral most of the time.

  4. I love old-school J. Crew! Beautiful linings and piping, a Bella-like jacket to look forward to every fall, Library-style prints that are gorgeous and timeless, 100% wool and silk.

I wore two of my oldies-but-goodies in the past week ... the Tie Dye Perfect Shirt in Pink and the Stone Bead Ribbon Necklace. Remember those? Some of the J. Crew of old ... real silk and lovely polished stones, real classic with a twist. I couldn't get down the street without a million compliments on those pieces.

  5. I agree about the old school J.Crew of course! But I'll throw in some love for some recent pieces. They still do merino well -- the Tippi which was raved about last week, and I just picked up the turtleneck in the neon fuschia, which is a lovely color, and will be great in the cold months.

I also got the Altuzarra Patricia dress and striped top on sale, and they have been a surprise love for me. I really like the weight of the material, and the varying stripe widths make them interesting and flattering. I've reached for both of them over and over.

    1. shopwithm, the neon fuchsia is my favorite color from the fall line. It is SO saturated... I just cannot wait to wear the heck out of it!

  6. I received a Tessa top in Safari Cat after stalking it for a while. When it arrived, there was a large noticeable pick in the linen fabric on the front. The "Live Chat" rep credited my account immediately for the return, even though the item was final sale. I expected to have to ship it back before receiving any credit. Kudos for quick customer service.

Also, won a Holiday 2005 Robert Noble wool blazer on Ebay for a song. Was overjoyed when it arrived yesterday and fit perfectly. Leather covered buttons, nice unscratchy wool, beautiful saturated color and a contrast repp-tie lining underneath the collar. Wish they still made jackets like this. I'm of a mind to scour Ebay for older blazers instead of investing $200 in a new one from their 2012 line. Great timeless quality from a 7-year-old line.

  7. Loving the Jackie pullover! Cooled down enough for me to wear one of the four (!) that I ordered (some are still on promo plus SHOPNOW) yesterday. I wear an xs in the tippi but a s in the Jackie. Love the length of the sweater! Fabric is nice and colors are lovely. I'll be reaching for these often.

    1. Ha, I was just coming to say the same thing about the jackie pullovers. I especially love that the white is not at all sheer. I am wearing it today and I just love it. I have almost every color and wear them constantly!

  9. I also LOVE my cafe trousers in desert that I got on sale this summer! They fit so, so perfectly, and I love the darker color.

And of course much love to my Owen high-heel lace up boots in warm sienna:)

  10. I love my Garden Lace Pencil Skirt A LOT. I get lots of compliments on it when I wear it. Wish JC would come up with another colour of that skirt. See OOTD here.

  11. I am in LOVE with my wool Cafe Capris- just got them a few weeks back in black. I also snagged the camel color from last year (the new saffron looks way too yellow) as well as the bright dahlia from last year.

Now I am trying to find another couple of colors from last year to complete my wish list!

  12. I love J. Crew and I have received their catalog for several years, but one time, for some reason, I did not get one of their catalogs. It was the one that they shot in Lisbon, Portugal. So I went to their Facebook page and left a note saying how sorry I was for not having received it.

A few days later, I got an envelope in the mail with the Lisbon catalog in it. They looked up my address in their client list and sent it to me. How amazing is that? I love them. I think half of my clothes are J.Crew...
