J.Crew of Seasons Past: {a look in the closet}

It's that time again, to take a look at an image of J.Crew pieces from seasons past! As caribbelle (in this post) so beautifully termed, "ye olde j crew of yore".

This post features the St. Emilion Eyelet Blouse, a romantic top thanks to its embroidered eyelet medallion design. Absolutely gorgeous!

What are your thoughts on the look(s)/item(s) from the past? Do you find the look(s)/item(s) classic or do you think they are dated?

  1. That just looks horrible on the model. Well, I was never a fan of that particular model but if the top looks bad on her, it would probably look bad on most! Yuck. But the fabric looks really pretty.

    1. I was just coming on to say the same thing! I think it's the sleeves that are the most unflattering.

  2. When is this from?? I think her makeup is pretty dated. I wouldnt say the shirt is dated, just not a very good idea.

    1. I think that this was Spring 2007? They did a similar silhouette in Winter '07 that was made of polka-dotted silk. If I recall, it didn't sell well (went down to like, $20 or something)...but! They learned from the mistake and didn't proceed to do it season after season after season (I'm looking at you, high-waisted-too-short-plunging-neckline dresses!).

  3. I have this top and the sleeves are not as wide as they look in the photo (and I don't have huge arms) The lace is beautiful and the back has large covered buttons. I wore it this summer with the neon pink cotton pencil skirt and I hope it didn't look too "bad" :)

  4. love this top and i've been stalking ebay for years now for it! i like that it's loose and oversized, would look great with skinny jeans or a pencil skirt.
