30% Off J.Crew Final Sale

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Emily (in this post), Rose (in this post), as well as Kelly, who shared the following update from J.Crew this morning.

J.Crew is offering customers 30% off all sale items (no min) with promo code MUSTSHOP. This offer expires Friday, September 7, 2012. The fine print includes:
*Offer valid at jcrew.com only. Offer is not valid at J.Crew retail or J.Crew Factory stores. Offer valid in U.S. and Canada only. Offer does not apply to previous purchases or to the purchase of gift cards. 30% off discount applies only to J.Crew sale and Factory sale items online. Offer valid through Friday, September 7, 2012, 11:59pm ET. Savings are applied at checkout with code MUSTSHOP. Offer not valid on phone orders. Cannot be combined with any other promotion. Limit one promotional code per order. Details of offer are subject to change.
This offer was already running at several brick & mortar stores over the weekend. It is nice to see this offer extended to online as well (click here to shop online).

Will you be checking out the Sale section? Are there any items you are hoping to see or to get?

  1. I agree that it's nice to see the offer extended to online, Alexis. I just always wonder what their reasoning is in waiting until after the long Labor Day weekend to run the promo. At least they are offering it eventually though, so at least that is a plus. :)

Also, for those interested, I have the Women's and Men's list of Promo-priced items (some of which have been marked down) on my blog here and here respectively.

  2. This is maddening for them to offer a % off promo AFTER the holiday weekend where they at least offered FREE shipping. Why make your own customers/fans feel bad if they JUST ordered sale items over the weekend?? This is just nasty.

  3. Does anyone know what "released" means for your order status? Does it mean it's getting close to be shipped? I'm closely tracking an item as I really want to receive it by Friday so I can take it on my upcoming vacation.

  4. wonder what J. Crew's logic is. Everybody is throwing a sale on the labor day weekend. All they did was offer the free shipping. Now comes the 30% off sale items but of course no free shipping. Really makes us think hard of whether to buy now or later.

  5. Is anyone else having trouble with the website? I can add a few items, but then after that I start getting completely blank pages when I try to open the item page, and in the address bar it says "empty" in the middle of the link.
This also happened on a different computer Friday when I was trying to place an order, in both Firefox and IE. I have never had to work so hard to place an order! :)

    1. I've had the same issues recently. Not sure what is going on.

  6. This happened to me this morning, too, on Google Chrome. I switched over to IE and it seemed to work perfectly fine -- I have no idea what the problem was.

  7. Would someone please tell me if they see the 30% off continuing (or not) in stores today? Thanks!

    1. No longer going on at the store I visited today (Chicago - Michigan Ave.). The SA honored the discount when I mentioned it at the register. Doesn't hurt to ask.

    2. Thanks for answering! I was worried all day that I was missing something, but it wasnt worth a half hour drive to find out.

  8. I passed, the shipping cost pretty much negates the discount for me on what little I want. I'd really like to see a FP promo as there are a few small things I want.

My store did not offer an extra 30% off sale prices so I will be returning the snowcat boyshirt I paid $50 for. Would have liked to re-buy online but not worth it with ship cost. Phooey.

    1. Same here. Shipping is making me think twice and not order anything from this promo since it negates the savings from the promo code.

  9. For a 30% off sale pretty slim pickings...my bet is there will be updates coming tommorow or the day after ( you know when you have already placed an order and paid shipping)

  10. I think they do this to avoid competing with other retailers for your attention over the labor day weekend. Though, when I saw the free shipping on any order this weekend, I just knew it would be followed by some further discounts.

  11. I feel like i've been waiting for a full price promo forever. And the selection in the sale section is just not good : / J.Crew needs to step up their game.

  12. While every other retailer is seemingly offering Labor Day deals, the best JC can do is free shipping and then another 30% off final sale the day after the weekend is over? Lame. Between this season's ever-increasing price point and an apparent deterioration in quality, I'm getting really frustrated with JC and have been seeking out other retailers. Case in point--I finally saw the Peter Pan Collar Sweater IRL in my local B&M, and I was stunned by how awful it felt to touch. I didn't bother trying on because just skimming my hand over the fabric felt so awful, I couldn't even believe it. I had to call my fiance over just to see if I was crazy but he agreed it was terrible. For $90 I was flabbergasted. Is this season going to be the one to make me stop drinking the Crewlaid?? Ugh. In other news, my VPS is ALWAYS "out of the office" so whenever I want to place an order, I email him and get an out of office bounceback. What's the point of having a VPS if they are so inconvenient to use?

Please, JCrew, you're killin me. I love you, but you're breaking my heart.

  13. I'm passing on this one, J. Crew. I was so happy with my last Boden purchase that I just bought from them again, they are having a good sale this week. 30% off sale is good, but so much is Final Sale, and there just isn't anything I want right now from J. Crew. I might be at the point where I have enough from J. Crew, no matter what they do next.

  14. There seems to be alot of discontent with J Crew these days...this skimpy sale after the long weekend of others having better offerings at better prices. The fact they offered only free shipping for yesterday makes me wonder who is in charge of this cracker jack factory? Mickey who?

  15. Remember, JC fancies themselves a "high-end" retailer that is above having Memorial Day/Labor Day/Black Friday sales. I wonder how that "training customers to pay full price" is working out for them.

    1. Hahaha! It has had the exact opposite effect on me. I am waiting for markdowns now, which I never did in the past. Nothing is so special that I'll kick myself if it sells out but really, what has sold out at full price lately? Absolutely nothing I've bought.

  16. I held out this weekend because free shipping just wasn’t enough for me. When I checked the website this morning to survey what I had put into my shopping cart I was pleasantly surprised to find 30% off and FREE SHIPPING on the shoes I was after! I have been waiting to do some honeymoon shopping so I let loose. I ordered the Marci wedges in Bright Dahlia, the Sydney patent sandals in Sunflower, the Havana clutch in Heritage Green, a pair of my favorite Café Capris in black, some 3” Chino shorts in Viridian Green AND a pair of Tretorn sneakers for my brother for his birthday. All for $195 and FREE SHIPPING! Now let’s just hope it all fits!!

  17. i went to the store today and was told they had a "surprise" sale on Sunday and Monday only...They will pricematch to whatever's online though. And when i went to checkout, they gave me an additional 30% off sale items -- i didn't request... she just offered it. So thumbs up for that!

  18. silver_lining, I know you're right. I figured that was why they were keeping themselves above the sale fray, but I guess if they stick to that strategy ardently then they will leave many of us longtime customers behind. I am lucky enough to have a high household income and I still find myself insulted by this season's prices, especially with the low quality I've seen. The problem is, when you start with an absurd "full" price, then when you do get to use a rare discount of any sort, it merely puts the item down in a normal price range that comparable retailers were using all along. That's not fun.

I also feel like JCrew took the old joke of "slap a bird on it" and morphed it to, "slap Collection on it!" Apparently putting that one word on an item allows you to quadruple the price for no good reason. Well, that word and sequins.

All the ranting is just because I'm disappointed--I miss the JCrew of yesterday and I am having a hard time finding another retailer to step in to those shoes. Seeking (1) quality items with good tailoring made from good fabrics, (2) classic styles with a twist, (3) a few trendy items or winks to trends each season, (4) pricing that accurately reflects the product.

    1. I wholeheartedly agree!! I have been so frustrated with JCrew lately, it's a culmination of so many things: the quality declines, pricing games, ridic original prices and uninspiring designs/styling. But I am struggling to find a substitute. I am hoping that this season is just a momentary blip on the radar, because it is just depressing to go into a JCrew and not want a single thing :(

  19. Pass. I am thrilled with my most recent Boden and Land's End purchases for fall - the quality and details, the customer service, the lack of "games" - and there isn't anything at JC that I'm dying for right now.

It's really sad because fall is the JC season when I am usually the most head over heels.

    1. Me too, there will always be a few things I want, but overall I feel nothing for the fall stuff. Which suits me just fine for now -- lord knows I don't *need* any more clothes! :)

  20. I'm holding off for a while . . . the only thing I "need" is a camel skirt and the reviews on this year's pencil skirt have been so bad that it doesn't seem worth it to pay FP (especially when the other colors are already at promo plus % off).

  21. I ordered last night off the sale (two origami dresses) and then today went to the B&M expecting to see 30% off...they said "nope" but if I couldn't find something on-line and they had it, THEN I could get the 30% off. That sounded like a job so I wandered off to another store....

  22. There are some new Promo-priced items this morning plus a couple that just got marked down. I've added them to the list here.

  23. Ordered a pair of the Seville Wedges. Thanks gigiofca for compiling IRL pics and all of those JCAs who reviewed the shoes. FS still sucks, but the solid reviews always make the bite less bitter.

  25. The 30% off is still available at some B&Ms. If anyone is looking for an Icon trench, there were 4 in the sale section at Northbrook Court (3 4's and a larger size - a 10 I think) I don't remember the price but they were well under $200 with another 30% off.
There were also 3 colorblock (black & tan) Edie grands towards the back on the shelves by the Crewcuts sale section. They were also under $200 before discount.
The #2 pencil skirt in neon yellow eyelet was $49.99 and the multiple colors of the narrow patent leather belts were $19.99

  28. Hi Gigi - do you know what price the snake Tippi will be at the B&M? It was marked $59.99 early this morning but would not add to my cart. Was hoping to get this for sale price + 30% off but unless it pops back tomorrow, I guess I'm out of luck!
