^ can I vent about these guys?! ^
ReplyDeleteSorta vent: I ordered a couple of t-shirts. Two linen shirts. Same size small but one color is clearly not a small. It's like an inch bigger in every direction. Another t-shirt I bought was cancelled even tho they were still showing in stock for twice the price I ordered it at. I was going to complain but then decided I don't need another shirt anyway. So I didn't get everything I wanted but saved a few bucks.
Also kinda meh on the new arrivals. Put a couple of things into my saved cart but I don't even think I'll order them on sale later.
new arrival. awful. sale section sitting there day after day.no Canadian promos...for eons. just disappointed in general
ReplyDeleteWent to the store today and basically walked in and out. Really didn’t see anything much appealing.
ReplyDeleteTried on a pair of shorts at Madewell I’ve been eyeing, the pull on linen blend shorts. Originally $49.50 but on sale online for $34.50. Fit was just bla. Reviews said the waist was small but the rest was loose but it really just hung on me even going down to XXS.
All I really want are basics that fit well. There is only one pair of shorts from JCrew that is appealing to me at all right now and they are a tencel blend, I have mixed results with that. I don’t like one pair of the shorts I bought last year.
Was there percent off sale on store? If so how much?
DeleteThanks for the update
25 percent off in the small sale room. I didn’t notice anything else.
DeleteThanks!!! I am going next week for few returns and will report back!
DeleteContinuation of vent on new arrivals ... further inspection last night sent me straight to my closet to dig out some of the lovelies from years past. Y’all inspired me to wear some lobster print and a pair of treasured modern red ceces today. I am newly thankful for the years I overshopped, and especially thankful I was too lazy to purge too much of the good stuff.
ReplyDeleteSame here. I wore the trench sheath dress from 2019 in oatmeal color with my Chanel flats. Got a lot of compliments. What a difference two years has made!!
Delete@kikigirl OT but it was you who got the everlane retro jersey barrel pants, correct? I’m losing patience and was contemplating the shorts, just to have a super casual easy pull on pair. Maybe the pants too. How would you describe the fabric? One reviewer of the shorts said something about “formal?” I know that’s not the right word. This whole time I’ve been comparing them in my head to the Soffe shorts I used to get my girls for summer camp. Like a thicker T-shirt material. Is that somewhat accurate?
DeleteYes those are my fav pants right now. Not formal. Agree slightly thicker but not see through Tee shirt material. Very light and easy to wear in summer.
DeleteMy recent purge included more recent purchases that I bought on super sale--items that I probably would not have purchased at a higher price. They really were not special to me at all. It made me rethink that temptation of those low prices because in most cases that simply turned out to be wasteful for me.
DeleteI kept older J.Crew items that are classic and good quality and continue to be worn. I am still happy with some of the lovely things that came out when Chris Benz was in charge of design. I've pushed my shopping ban up to Labor Day now because it has been very easy. It's a relief not to order then reorder at a lower price and then return. I don't like final sale at all.
In looking at new arrivals, I asked myself, "Is there anything here they could give you for free?" NO. I don't want things that I don't absolutely love and that become clutter.
I've said this before, but I still cherish the wonderful J.Crew shoes made in Italy. The fit and quality are great. This is a strong reminder to me to buy less but better going forward. I think Net-a-Porter will be replacing J.Crew when the "need" arises.
Looks like more 3rd party seller items coming to J Crew. Not sure we need an Amazon business model at the Crew, but I guess this shows that even they are not confident in what they are offering these days.

Perhaps they need a different person in charge of design. This new one who replaced Chris Benz has not impressed me with spring and summer styles. Dull, drab, and shapeless. No thanks.
DeleteReally have wanted to order something from JCrew the past few months. For twenty years it’s been my favorite place to shop. Past. Tense. Yes there still are items I’d like but not at the prices they are charging Canadians. $100 for men’s shorts? Nope. $117 for a casual shirt? Nah. So I picked up a few things from Ralph Lauren Polo. Better quality and less expensive. If I need expensive I’ll shop at Todd Snyder; far far better quality fabrics, colour sand designs than JCrew.
ReplyDeleteRant over. Missing the ol JCrew, both designs and prices.
