Noticed there are new Ratti Collection pieces out in silk and cotton. What’s your take everyone? Not crazy about the large ruffles and some of the patterns aren’t attractive to me at all. My humble opinion
ReplyDeleteI'm not a ruffle kind of woman, doesn't work with my muscular square shoulders. I'm also not a fan of some of the latest Ratti prints, though I like the lilac floral this summer. The block color prints left me cold. With you on missing Drakes prints.
Delete@Lynn, for some reason I can’t pull up the new Ratti items. I’m not into large ruffles either, it looks like overall they’ve made a lot of tops with ruffles this season. I agree with you and pbanos about bringing back Drakes prints! I keep hoping for beautiful prints to return.
Delete@jan, they pulled a fast one again. Probably put them up too early and then discovered they shouldn’t have been there until whenever. I saw them at full priced and preorder with arrival not until Dec. One item I was able to retrieve was AT672 collection pull on silk pants red chains print & shows sold out. Not true. I couldn’t locate the Ratti ones unfortunately The company has previously done this with many items.

DeleteHi Lynn, that’s happened to me before. Recently I preordered the vintage pjs in black Stewart plaid, then they disappeared from the site. I received them beginning of Nov and then maybe a week later they appeared on the site. I hope that your items work out for you!
DeleteHi Jan, Thank you. I didn’t preorder anything from the new silk or cotton collection. I did reorder the autumn tweed pink multi jacket AR 428 for 34.01. The first one I ordered I paid was about 41.00. They took 20% on this last order because of the credit card promo. It’s a gift for someone and an excellent price. I haggle all the time with CS, or any company for that matter; sort of a game for me. Some might be ashamed to admit it but I’m not:) I’m happy I can pass on nice things to people especially when the price is right! I wish you were getting big deals up there. 30% off is stingy for them. Perhaps for Black Friday they’ll pass something better to all of you. Hope so. Have a nice weekend. Still here in Fl. Ugh!

I did call the ups shop just across the border and they said they can combine boxes and ship to Canada I would pay the shipping fee plus duty depending on the value. I used to order to Florida when we’d go for our yearly trip. I’m worried that this spring/summer we may not get to go again depending on the pandemic.

DeleteThe Ratti paisley, at least on my monitor, looks more like something from Lands End. No slam on Lands End, I've ordered casual things from time to time, but definitely a different vibe from what I expect from Ratti. Maybe the print is not as subdued in real life? Like the chain print but orange is second only to citron and mustard for making me look like I have a liver disease when worn close to the face. A skirt would be nice.

Mary G I agree with you, maybe in real life the poinsettia paisley looks more bold. The orange green purple melting floral reminds me of Halloween. I think the print is unique and mod but I wouldn’t wear those colors.

Actually the melting floral reminds me of a bad 1970s tuxedo. Maybe it’s supposed to be ironic.

ReplyDeleteCan anyone tell me what your recent experiences have been with Liberty slim perfect shirt sizing? I've always found them tight in the shoulders and under the arms and had to size up at last one, possibly two sizes for ease/comfort. How are you finding the recent sizing on these?

DeleteFunny, because I just checked and when I purchased my last Liberty shirt it was called "Perfect shirt in Liberty®" Little Marquess (black multi) print Item AR564 but it's now listed as "Slim perfect shirt in Liberty". I always take a size 2 in these and have not noticed any difference in sizing. I do have long arms and sometimes need to size up for shoulders, but not in Liberty shirts.

ReplyDeleteToronto JCAs - visited Yorkdale this past Wednesday but will not be going this weekend due to Monday’s lockdown. Store was still 50% off everything in advance of their closing in late January but not sure how the upcoming 4-week closure will impact this. None of the Xmas pieces had arrived instore when I was there, and given they will not reopen until Dec 21 who knows what will be there. Mall traffic this weekend will be like December 23 as everyone tries to get their gift shopping done before lockdown! Stay well everyone.

I’ve actually ordered from Yorkdale over the phone a couple of weeks ago, they are so lovely there I’m so sad for the staff. I’ve been trying to buy more but as you said they are slow in receiving merchandise lately. I too was wondering how the lockdown will affect them. I wonder if they’d do curbside? Such a tough time before Christmas for the lockdown. I’m in a ‘yellow’ zone so feeling lucky so far. I hope things improve for Toronto.
DeleteThank you Jan! Thankfully I live in a very low-incidence neighbourhood of TO, so we are doing just fine. I am SO sorry that the Yorkdale JCrew will probably have to close Monday, during the spring lockdown they were not open at all so I doubt they’ll be doing curbside pickup since there’s no way of ordering online from them. I agree, the staff there are just wonderful and I’m feeling such empathy for them. Such terrible timing for a lockdown, they ought to have done it a month ago! I imagine the mall was crazy busy today, I know my high street was. For now I’ll just be looking at the JC website and hoping our one little store manages to open again before - and after - Christmas.
DeleteI’m glad to hear that you’re doing well. I honestly wonder if the lockdown will even help since it seems most cases are from big gatherings, parties, weddings. I feel so badly for the businesses and staff. Hard to imagine the Yorkdale store closing for a month then opening for only one more month after. Take care, hopefully December will bring good news.

Off note card love would not work
Did a chat and they said no! Very frustrating
However velour joggers A778 are marked $44.50 with 50 off plus 20. It’s not going through but they did do a adjust for me. $17.80 per pair! I seem to need joggers with work form home! My daughter is remoting her freshman year in college as well! So grey and navy for both of us! And one pair for my mom! I think it’s a good price . But I really wanted additional 20 off . Ughh. Rules lol

DeleteI saw the joggers this morning but didn’t look closely because I find them cold inside, I think I tried them last winter.
I also have the kikis in ivory with black toe and sand with gold toe that I first painted black, then red, after my girls scuffed the gold. Right now I’m waiting for my eldest to custom paint a design on them which she’s been doing to stay creative over quarantine. A fun way to update a classic shoe and make them more unique.
I like the Kate heeled loafer as well but same. Really really don’t need another heel right now.

But it’s Hard to predict what’s going to happen. I don’t think city Manhatan schools will reopen any time soon. They overfilled and building are very old. It’s depressing for the kids! But safe for me! She is home, no commute, no huge parties. No covid hopefully!! Lol

DeleteI got a package today (super sale tissue tneck I’m the navy white dot print) and there was no coupon, but I got a free great deals this week so can’t complain. My little boy loves boots and I picked up Sorels for $22! Plain white tees for my bf for layering, $3 each. And those low heeled olive green suede boots for less than $50.

Thanks Lynn for the heads up about the new arrivals. The Ratti prints in Poinsettia Paisley (which does not look Christmasy) and the mod Melting Floral are up now. The non-Ratti silk shirt and pant in Red Chain print (which looks more coral or orange) are catching my eye. I especially like the look of the chain print shirt. Nothing in jewelry or shoes is really speaking to me and I sure don’t need anymore holiday tartan shoes.

DeleteOT but I ordered the new Everlane half zip mockneck sweater. It’s merino but almost like a boiled wool, thick. It’s called oversized so I was originally going for XS but that sold out and I got the S and it’s fine, a little wide but not huge. It’s pricy but considering the material content, if you like the shape. I am considering it almost an investment piece but it’s much more reasonable than comparable sustainable brand sweaters I’ve seen. The zip neck is tight but I thought worn slightly open it’s perfect for one of my colorful JCrew silk scarves peeking out. The zipper is silver (I would have preferred gold) but it’s not so shiny that it makes a statement.

Is not a Navy looks more like a dark gray or faded black. Comes with an extra button. They should have included a lot more. The buttons are sewn on as if I had done it. I flunked sewing😂 really loose and the buttons are cheap looking. This one is going back as fast as it arrived.

ReplyDeleteItem AR944 Beautiful!! A keeper. I sized down one size and the fit is perfect. Hits me at my waist. I am high waisted. It soft, one of my favorite all time colors and doesn’t look sloppy. It’s not as wide as it’s on the model. I think it looks better as far as the fit. The V neck is so nice and I will wear it without a tee or tank. I’m a 34D. For reference I paid $100.00 tax included with a promo. If there’s another promo I may order another color. That’s how much I love it. It’s a winner at least for me.

No store visit for me this weekend. I did receive the Ruffleneck classic-fit boy shirt in stripe. I sized up and that was the right call. It will be lovely tucked into skirts in the spring but not sure it works for a drapey top with jeans. I think I will keep. A bunch of stuff is in my cart but nothing compelling me to buy. I really want to order my kiddos some new stuff but sale prices haven’t been great. Hoping for a BF deal!

DeleteThere's a good tip the the reviews that you should tack down through the waistband in a couple of places to keep the elastic from twisting in the wash. Plus I'd wash inside out so they don't pick up lint.
Ha, I have cats, the pants are going to be covered in fuzz the moment I take them out of the bag. But if they're cozy, that's what matters!

I’d call customer service and explain it. I’m pretty sure that they’ll honor it if it’s still showing that on the page. That happened to me once and they placed the order for me. Good luck!

ReplyDeleteHi Wendy. While I have not seen the cashmere, in my experience Jcrew’s cerise is an orangey red and not a Christmas Red at all.

Hi TorontoModern, I’ve been going through the same thoughts. Wondering and hoping for better on Friday but I think last year was 30% off. I decided to buy the Nordic boots at 30% even though it pains me knowing how much cheaper they are in the US. I know I’ll get use out of them though.

DeleteI've been planning on buying more tissue turtlenecks for a while. In the good old days, I would be paying less than $10 Canadian each thanks to the amazing discounts we used to get, so it's a little hard to adjust to the new pricing, which is a little ridiculous since even today we are not talking about meaningful amounts. I also feel like I need to be efficient with the $14 shipping fee so I've been holding back. I'd love to get more Liberty shirts, but it's been hard to reconcile myself to the current pricing. (And of course I don't need anything...) I am almost grateful to J Crew for their new Canadian pricing as I have really cut back!
I meant to post in reviews about a tissue turtleneck that I received. I think it was you asking about sizing, I apologize if I’m wrong. I received the ivory one and it’s consistent with the sizing from last years. It’s very very sheer though so I’m going to use it underneath and not on its own. I think that colour was on sale when I bought it.
DeleteI agree about the shipping fee. I try to place big orders to get free shipping on the $250. I always pay PayPal so return shipping is covered by PayPal. I’ve probably used that 5 times this year and am grateful for it.

DeleteHi Amahendra, just sign up for the return shipping on them program in your PayPal account (it’s free) and then after you make a purchase if you return something you’ll see the option to request a shipping refund if you click on the original transaction. It’s up to $30 shipping and I think it’s up to 12 times per year. Since JCrew charges $30 now this makes shopping there much more attractive. It’s easy to send the documentation to get your money back.

DeleteI've used the PayPal refund service before (which is great and I still don't know why they do it), but I have mailed back on my own through Canada Post. How does the J Crew return service work? Can you generate a return label on your own or do you have to call Customer Service. Is it UPS return only through J Crew? Thanks.
Hi Toronto Modern, you call CS and they initiate the return and email you a UPS label and paperwork. Unless there’s a defect or something the $30 shipping charge will be on your email from them. That’s the proof you’ll use for PayPal. JCrew deducts $30 from your refund. The $30 doesn’t appear on the paperwork for customs just in the email from JCrew. UPS returns usually arrive back in a few days, they go to Pennsylvanian and lately JCrew has processed them a few days later. Much faster lately although holidays might slow it down. HTH
DeleteI should mention not to claim your shipping refund until the return is processed. JCrew used to send an email saying it’s processed lately they don’t so I use the original return email from them. I also attach a screen shot of the email from PayPal saying I have a refund from JCrew and PayPal has been accepting those two things as my proof.

ReplyDeleteWow, I check often and have ordered a few things in the past but I can’t believe some of the deals. The tread trainers are my best fitting sneakers. I paid $50 which was a great price, I can’t believe they’re $20. Too bad my size isn’t available.
