J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Am I the only one who's bummed about Chris Benz leaving already? I felt like we were just starting to see his influence on designs and things were looking good.

    1. I’m sad too. He made me optimistic and I just like him in general.

I did read that JCrew has now emerged from bankruptcy, this week I guess they’re technically finished restructuring. So let’s hope they can find a way to be stronger now.

  2. I visited my store today for returns. Sale was 30 percent off with some newer items, it seemed a lot of the older stuff was gone.

I was able to return my “brilliant sunset” items, including the pleated pants I purchased in store, since nothing matched.

I’m still waiting on one sale item which disappeared a week ago, the paperbag pants (which are linen and tencel, not poly). I hope they come soon because I need a little pick me up.

    1. Paperbag pants should fit you well.

Brilliant sunset went down, too bad.

On the plus side, we get to wear sweaters now! Today I'm wearing drawstring linen pants (from the 72%+ off sale) and a summer sweater from two years ago. Look more like drinks by the pool than work-from-home, but the office can't see me.

You have to wonder how long 'outside' meals, gym classes, meetings etc will last once the temps are in the 50's

    2. @pbanos - that’s my perfect outfit! I cannot wait to wear a summer/early fall sweater. Outside temps in the 50’s are also my favorite. I hope we have more than a few of those days this fall.

I received the linen/chambray cover up dress today. It’s really neat. A heavier fabric than I expected but still breathable. I love the neckline and adjustable straps. The pockets are perfection as is the length (hits above my ankle at 5’6”). A keeper for sure at $27. I took a M which is my normal size and I would say it’s on point.

    3. I wore my Everlane chunky cotton sweater with Alex Mill gray linen pants, black Everlane day gloves and my black with red Longchamp (with my one fancy mask that coordinates). I admit I’m loving comfortable pants.

It was hard to say goodbye to those pants because I really did like the fit, but it was just too much effort to coordinate them with anything and I know enough to know that means they won’t get worn.

And my jcrew high waisted pleated linen pants DO get worn because they’re smart and comfortable. I wish the rise was higher but it is what it is!

    4. Zach and Mere is that the striped one? I’m not a dress person but every so often I see one I would consider getting and that was one of them.

PBanos, I’m still tempted by those linen drawstring pants even though none of the colors are really me. I’m keeping my eye on them.

    5. @Suz, yes it is! It’s not a bright blue, but not quite navy. I love how the stripes varied in spacing and patterns. I’m not a dress person either but like to have a few summer options. I felt like this was pretty classic (blue/white, stripes, linen...).

I’m also a huge fan of the drawstring linen pants. I have olive and tan (adding the chambray when it hits my mailbox). I love them and find that they flex with my variety of current outings. Nothing crazy fancy but they can do a Zoom or a doctors appointment or distanced work meeting.

    6. Can any of you comment on the sizing of the linen drawstring pants. I am tempted by the sale price but don’t want to return/rebuy if I can avoid it. On the website, many reviews say they run large. Was that your experience as well?

    8. Sara, I’m a large 6 or smaller 8 in J. Crew. I took a medium in the drawstring pant. In the seaside linen pant (more joggers style) I took a small.

    9. There are two different drawstring linen pants, the ones called “drawstring linen pant” that have a side stripe and come in a color called sweet briar and then the more slim cut looking seaside pull on version.

  3. Not finding too much that sparks my interest from this batch of new arrivals. I am very concerned about the lack of new Tippi colors this roll out... Did they not learn their lesson with the Cece and the Tilly and the countless articles that have been written about those changes? Do not get rid of the tried and true staples your customer base love!!!!

  4. Does anyone have the Rooster blouse and can post your opinion? I'm interested, but it's now final sale. There are only 2 reviews posted.
