Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Not going this weekend, but I stopped into the store on Wednesday to make some returns from my large order from the latest roll out. There was no promo on full-price goods, and only 30% off sale, which is a far cry from the 40%/60% discount that was available online at the time. They had lots of new items, but the sale selection was smaller than I'd ever seen it; I suspect they had sent a lot of stock back.

  2. No visit for me. Waiting for a couple of items to come (2 cashmere tees and a sale linen dress)... I wasn't totally in love with the new roll out but I keep checking the site anyway to see if anything new pops in. Fall is my favorite season to shop for.

    1. Both my orders came early!! I love the cashmere tees and I'm so glad I got them in the brief moment they were included in a promo. And I love my linen shift dress. I actually have it in another color and was hoping the black would sell out so I'd have an excuse not to buy more but it was always there... just waiting for me to buy it. 😂

  4. I have to stop in to return one of the two seersucker ribbon dresses I purchased, but I'm waiting on my antho order to be delivered, so I can make all my returns at once. Thankfully, the two stores are right down the hall from each other at my local mall.

    1. I ordered the shorts in the same fabric, so cute. Though I guess I won't really wear them much this year - we're nearly into bermuda shorts + long sleeves weather.

    2. I’m planning to wear that dress, as well as the eyelet trimmed midi dress which also came Thursday, to work one day this week with a loose knit cotton cardigan over. Then they’re going away for the year.

Stopped in store yesterday. Sale section was very skimpy with only an additional 30% off. I was relieved to not buy anything. Anthropologie has the smallest sale section I’d ever seen, just a few racks as compared to the room plus racks they usually have. I was happy to make it out of the mall without purchasing anything.

  5. I was in the area so I popped in for a visit. Around 11:30 am Friday.
30 percent off new arrivals (didn’t read fine print) and sale.

An item that got canceled on me, the pointelle Mockneck sweater, was available in the sale section but seemingly for more $$$. I could have asked to price match but the material was odd. If you’ve seen any of the cotton crepe items online and read reviews I now know what people are talking about. It’s all cotton but kind of stiff. I also saw the brilliant sunset cardigan In the same color (as mentioned, this does not match the brilliant sunset pants) and it’s garishly bright fluorescent red Orange.

I glanced at new arrival shoes. The Roxie suede boots are nice. The coated jacket with liberty trim also comes in a pretty cinnamony-russet color For fall but I know from experience I don’t love the fit. Nothing else of interest.

    1. Too bad about the jacket & the cardigan. Lucky about the crepe sweater, though.

We're just starting cotton sweater season, looking forward to wearing mine.

    2. Me too! It was so brisk this morning I’m wanting to put on soft sweats and I seem to have none anymore.

  6. Curious if anyone knows why Chris Benz is leaving? The article is behind a pay wall. Also, is he the reason the clothes are a little better looking this fall? Oh this makes me sad if true. Agree with previous posters, the items excluded from the promo are pretty significant.

    1. @swp in nova, I read it quickly the other day. It doesn’t say why he’s leaving. I’m quite sad about it as I was really optimistic about him being at JCrew. It did say that there’s talk of them replacing him with a vp from Victoria’s Secret. That made me worry but then I read that this person apparently used to work at JCrew under Jenna for a number of years so that could be positive. I hope!

Also to read that article if you go to outline.com and copy the article URL into the space provided it will let you read most articles. HTH

    3. You’re welcome! 😊 Someone showed me that last year and I can’t believe how many times I’ve used it to read news articles.

  7. Ordered online, not much in stores in my size

  8. Stopped in to make a few returns that were more than 30 days old. Exchange or gift card. Opted for the gift card. Store looked sparse and sale was 30% off. Left empty-handed and then went to Madewell. Picked up boardwalk ankle strap sandal in English saddle. Really like the color and they were $8. Sale is 40% off and not final sale.

    1. Received the last of my 70+10% items, tie neck autumn tweed dress. Fit is tts and there are pockets (yeah!). I ordered classic and dress is at my knees (just over 5.8.). The colors are a nice mix & very pretty. Was watching a news show and one of the guests was wearing it. Gives me an excuse to "dress up" for a Zoom meeting.

  9. I really can’t believe most of what was on sale is no longer an additional percentage off. Maybe they’re using this time to catch up on orders?

    1. On the other hand, it’s not final sale so it might be a good time to try questionable cuts with no model shots.

  10. I know it sounds alarming to hear that the rumoured new head designer is currently at Victoria's Secret, but if I have my J Crew trivia correct, she's actually a J Crew alum. The rumoured front runner is Olympia Gayot. She used to be at J Crew. I believe her mother is Michelle Lloyd Bermann who is a well-known interior designer in Toronto (and was shown once along with a bunch of other people a J Crew promotion). I could be totally wrong about the relationships between the people but I think I've got it right. Both of them have had their homes featured in House & Home (a lovely Canadian magazine). You can google Michelle Bermann J Crew to see the J Crew campaign from a couple of years ago, and if you want to see their homes (and feel reassured that the Victoria's Secret gig should not be held against her because they have excellent taste), you can google Olympia Bermann House & Home as well as Michelle Bermann house Home.

    1. @TorontoModern, thank you for that info! That sounds promising. When I have a chance I’ll check out their home features. Fingers crossed that this will help JCrew assuming she gets the job.

  11. I am very sad about the upcoming closing of the Bloor Street Toronto location. I have not been there in months because of COVID and will not be going there prior to closing. Some of the staff had been there for years and are just lovely. I hope that they get reasonable packages, but terrible that they are losing their jobs. As other Canadian JCAs have commented J Crew appears to be pulling out of Canada. I just hope the website continues to allow shipping to Canada.

My J Crew spending is down considerably due to the combination of working from home plus the fact that the Canadian promos have been pretty anemic. We've only been able to get 30% off a couple of times in the past few months. But I still enjoy popping into this forum to follow the action!

    1. Certainly at this point I can say it’s probably not worth your while to visit the Bloor store - I was there the first day it was announced and again a week later and there were some very good deals to be had. But as the lineups outside have grown this week, and the clothing diminished (even the mannequins are naked now) I doubt there’s much to go for. The men’s side seemed still to be well stocked though. Yorkdale has not announced a closing (yet) and I am hoping it will stay. I agree that the staff at Bloor have been wonderful through the years, and there are some at Yorkdale who have been there since it opened 10 years ago.

    2. I really hope Yorkdale doesn’t close! Is the whole store 70% off, if so it would seem they are closing.
I did phone the Bloor store looking for something and they were so lovely as usual. So sad for the employees and us cdn JCAs.

    3. Hoping to get to Yorkdale this week, I will report back if I see any sign of impending closure. It would sure be nice if JCrew kept its first-ever Canadian store open, just as a toehold on this side of the border. Not holding my breath since I’m sure mall traffic is down significantly.

    4. I’m sure that location does well so hopefully they keep it open. I hope that you find some great items, oh how I miss visiting a store in person.

  12. Got my items: thought let you guys know my thoughts!
    1. Embroidered romper in white AP212. Size 0 arrived. Size 2 canceled! It fits perfect! So it’s smaller one of my sizes! I love it. Very chick! Channel like lol
    2. Tiered popover dress in Ratti® safari print AP199. I got XXS. Size down! Fits great! It’s fun! Idk if I can make it work and I got shut down by my 18 yrs old daughter and hubby! They both thought I would have to work at zoo to wear this. I do like it. But it’s loud and it’s not my usually style.
3.Tiered midi dress in seersucker ribbons AO466. Got Sz 0. Fits well! I am not impressed! Very cute! But idk!
    4. Edie Parker® X J.Crew button-front tiered maxi dress in limes and oranges AP050. XS is little snug! I do like it and so does hubby and my daughter! It’s very pretty! If I keep it , I will exchange for size small. Prob my favorite from all the my dress purchases!
    5. Sleeveless pleated A-line dress in two-way stretch wool
Item K7879. Size 2 was too small in the bust. Size 4 is perfect! I got navy and I can pair it with regent navy blazer for work! I never get a 4. But it seems it’s the new 2 in this style. It’s lined and well made. I can wear it 4 seasons! For $28 it’s a keeper!
    6. Tiered popover dress in embroidered eyelet AP152. Got xxs in navy. Super cute! I just don’t know where I would use this except vacation! So prob return!
    7. Vintage cotton French café T-shirt AS063. Love it! TTS. Got XS.
    8. 10" highest-rise toothpick jean in Prairie wash AQ864 for my daughter. TTS. Got her her usual 30. She loves them!
    9. On pop back I got 8" toothpick jean in medium wash
Item H7799. I love them! I spent all day in them yesterday! I can’t do 9 and 10 rise...: suffocates me....lol. Great color. On sale they were $20. I return 3 pairs before! So happy to find a pair I love!
Honestly all the dresses I listed are fantastic! Problem is we are not traveling anywhere( Aruba and Bahamas are just a dream now.... covid killed it).... so it’s hard to keep all of them as I won’t use many. I go to work and home. We barely go out....(ughh).... and winter is coming! But I do complement the styles and fabric and what JCrew was able to do the this year with their merchandise!

  13. Off note, I got this dress form Tory Burch!

    https://www.toryburch.com/handkerchief-printed-t-shirt-dress/65143.html?color=131

It’s pricey even on sale! But it’s so beautiful. Tried both small and xs. Keeping xs. The price is too much.... I just have not seen elegant things like this in long time! They offer 1 yrs return! Non final sale! Arrived in most beautiful huge box with tissue paper!

    1. Very pretty and feminine, plus it certainly looks comfortable.

I nearly ordered the white embroidered romper, it's adorable. But I've too many clothes as is, and I held off. I did wear my short sleeve poplin romper from last year a bunch of times this summer. That one ran large too, but I like loose clothing in summer.

  14. No store visit bc there isn’t one any more (I feel your pain Canadians), but I did get a Labor Day promo package - the seaside pants in chambray. I already own two of the linen pair and assumed they were patterned the same. Wrong. The chambray pair is about an inch off on all seams. CS sent me a return label even though they were final sale and allowed me to repurchase at the same price, but I lost my rewards used to buy the first pair. That part really irks me considering I was essentially purchasing another “color” of the same pants and felt “safe” to use the rewards. Oh well. I have the chambray striped coverup still coming - hopefully I guessed right on that sizing. Clearly I was feeling chambray last weekend.

    1. Ugh that stinks. I have the ZIP up indigo seaside pants coming today and I hope they fit. Sizing has really been inconsistent. I’m glad they are at least allowing you to return/exchange but to lose rewards for a sizing issue is just wrong, specially when you can’t even try on in store (last I checked).

  15. Any reviews on the leopard barn jacket?

  16. Zip-up indigo seaside pant
    Item AJ459
Arrived today. They’re not terrible but I think they’re more fitted than I was expecting, and I took the larger of my two sizes. The color is also quite a bit lighter. Oh well.

    2. After taking pics I noticed the pockets are sewn crooked/uneven and I’m going to bring them back.

    3. @Zach and Mere I was thinking about it actually, but with the way the pockets lie I dont know if going up a size will help. I certainly paid a fair price for them and they’re comfortable but I might just return them and forget it
