"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. This half vent, half FYI. I can confirm what Lynn said in a previous post about selected stores having crazy markdowns to move inventory this week. I've been eying the silk pants in Giraffes. I just called the Rockefeller Center store (my nearest store) and was told the pants are currently $93.xx + 50% off. I called the Richmond, Va., store that Dana had mentioned in an earlier post and asked for the same pants. Price? $14.99! No idea what combo of markdowns led to this insane discrepancy in price, but as soon as she said $14.99, I asked her to do a charge-send. I haven't bought anything in months so I used my rewards, and now the pants are en route to NYC for $4.99 out of my pocket. I'm both thrilled and annoyed about the price!

    1. I called the Richmond store, which is the one I go to even though it is 2 hours from where I live. The SA's and manager there are really nice. They are holding both a 0 and 00 for me to try on this Friday. I ordered the shirt online. It wasn't FS, but the pants are. It's not a big deal for $15, but I have other things I can do over there. Thanks to Lynn and eeps.

    2. That’s wonderful. I hope they work out for you.

    3. The giraffe pants were $14.99 here in the Toronto store yesterday as well, while the shirt was still full price! The pants didn’t work on me, but the dress was on sale too with an extra 50% off - not silk but very cute on, so now I own some giraffes

    4. I was considering the dress. How much was it? I didn’t ask the SA bc I was afraid if she said something ridiculously low, I’d buy it immediately too.

    5. Eeps, it was marked down from $217 to 139, then a further 50% off that. So $69.50. Definitely worth it at that price for me. Fits tts

    6. Which Toronto store? Yorkdale? Is the one on Bloor still open?

    7. Wow, what a score, I can’t believe the price of the pants!

    8. The Bloor St store closed a week ago. The Yorkdale one is still open and so far there is no sign of it closing. Full size run of the pants and the dress, the SA said they had received them much later than when they went up on the website

    9. Thanks for the info @cagliari67! I don’t need a dress now so glad I didn’t ask the SA. I’m still wearing all the sundresses I picked up on sale over the summer.

    10. You’re welcome eeps - for me, the dress is definitely fall/winter due to the colour, fabric and sleeves, so I could justify it to myself. Because lord knows I’m not in any real need of dresses either lol! But it will look great even as we go into tights-wearing weather.

    11. I'd totally get it if I had somewhere to wear it to - like the office. I think it would be gorgeous with a mustard cardi.

  2. Not a vent, just breaking news. October is cardholder appreciation month and Jcrew card holders will get 20% off purchases. You’re Welcome;)

    2. A little birdie (sales associate) told me. ;)

    3. Make sure the CARDLOVE gets applied! Website doesn’t calculate the difference. See my post on Looking to Love this a.m. please

  3. I asked CS if they would apply the extra 15% offer to my purchase and they said no. It irks me that I paid $14 more for the same item than someone else got just because their e-mails are inconsistent. And it's final sale so no returning/rebuying when the item inevitably is at 60 or 70% off sale next week. Very sick of the pricing games and final sale.

    1. That sucks. I’m sorry. I didn’t get a code either and I didn’t buy. I hope you love what you got.
