"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Not a vent. Ordered a couple of featherweight short sleeve cardigans in light pecan and navy/white stripe before final sale (during magic hour). For $30, I'm hoping they work. It's still warm here, so no signs of fall yet.

    1. I was tempted with those too, but held off valiantly. It was 45F this morning, a taste of Fall for NJ.

    2. I ordered awhile back and reordered both at the lower price. I like them.. I sized down as I wanted to wear them more as a tee shirt.

    3. @Lynn, thanks for letting me know that you like them. You have great taste, so looking forward to receiving.

    4. @pbanos J Crew is full of temptations! I've won some battles and lost others (LOL). Looking forward to at least some cooler temps (in the 70s).

  2. I was looking at them! May order it with my rewards! Can always use another cashmere sweater!

  3. It is a vent: I put my latest striped Artist T-shirt into laundry. I held off from washing it for as long as I could, but basic hygiene and common sense demanded water and soap. And so I succumbed...You probably guessed where I am going with this story - 4 tiny holes on the front of my fave t-shirt. That's it, i give up with Artist tees. Is developing holes a part of these tees being Artist-ic? I love the look, the fit, the feel. But I really hate holes. If anybody knows of a similar tee that is a bit more robust, give me a shoutout (leaves the stage to cry in a corner).

    1. I have a mesh bag that a lot of my more delicate t-shirts and fine cotton blouses go in for washing. Say pima, linen or tissue tees and tnecks, my Liberty blouses. Plus you can fish it out before the spin cycle and drip dry.

    2. That’s smart. I keep some by my laundry area but always forget to use them!

  4. I finally got my Drapey paperbag pants. AB672.
They looked as if they came from a crumpled up garbage bag. So wrinkled and worn looking. Loose threads and messed up stitching everywhere. At first I thought for sure I’d have to return them but I steamed them and they look nice. They’re easy and comfortable. But still, the stitching is bad and the condition they arrived looked like I purchased them at a bin from a garage sale. It’s almost embarrassing that anything would be sent out like that.

  5. Sometimes I find items shipped from stores, though they don't get sent promptly, are the best packaged. They might show up with a hangar, with tissue, neatly folded, in a box. Guess I'd prefer neat to fast shipping.

At least they steamed out easily. Maybe the poor stitching is why they reached sale status.

    1. Well CS offered an extra 20 percent off which, although only a few dollars, (I paid $33) seems like a nice gesture. I used $10 rewards so to lose them and not have the pants (not that I’m lacking black pants) seems like a less fun option

    2. I can’t figure out any rhyme or reason, but I’m glad they did something. It’s a nice feeling.

    3. I’m thinking they would have been discards or damaged goods. So better to give a discount than have more rags.

  6. Received many items one of which is AR656. The navy peony tiered dress. Yes, it’s in viscose which I normally dislike with a poly lining but fits nicely. I will wear this with navy ballet flats or GG sneakers to keep it very casual. Very flattering and I sized down. Price was fine less than $60.00. Overall I am enjoying the new rollout and no issues. These rust copper colors are quite nice and compliment my car😂
