Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Haven’t seen a sales section this packed for awhile. Lots of popbacks and holiday leftovers, plus good deals for random sizes. I ended up placing 2 orders, one with all FS things and the other a Barbour jacket at a good price. I bet the fellas at Reddit/fmf went nuts.

    1. The great deal on the Barbour was sold out, but I did get the hubs a Wallace Barnes corduroy chore jacket, a sweater for my stepson, and a hoodie for my stepdaughter. (Will be sad when we lose the free shipping)

    2. I missed the REALLY AMAZING Barbour deal but I got the good-enough one on the quilted jacket. I'm buying it for myself - quarantine weight gain is sizing me out of my favorite Penfield parka so need a sub.

    3. Oh, was that the navy blue one?

  2. Is there talk about no free shipping?
I also bought way too much.... the cashmere was just to good to pass up. Will keep all of you posted

    1. What is this talk of no free shipping? While this will certainly cure me from JCrew addiction, it'll be a sad day...

  3. I was able to ignore this recent 50/60% off sale promo until this morning I wandered over to look for shorts and see what popbacks had showed up. Got 1 pr of shorts, 2 summer sweaters (yes summer sweaters get worn for real all summer in Michigan), just one thing was FS and it was a $13 item. Some really great deals on some lovely dressy skirts and jackets that I absolutely do not need. Have been spending tons of time cleaning out my closet while "sheltering in place" and selling stuff on Ebay (I totally gave up on Poshmark but that's a long ranty story). Trying on tons of things in my closet, thinking a lot about what I wear the most and being much stricter about buying for the life I have vs the one I wish I had ;D

  4. Some new items are up on the site today including a No. 3 pencil skirt (scratches head - did I miss a memo that No. 2 is replaced by No. 3?). Some very pretty new dresses.

    1. I saw that...No. 3 pencil skirt (wha??). those pretty new dresses and skirts caught me eye too, they seem to have snuck in a mini rollout. I'm also really happy that many of the new straighter skirts are longer/below the knee.
I bought a pair of shorts morning and they were 40% off, just went back now and they are "excluded from promo". Not that I wanted to order more but it's so annoying how they change stuff around like that, even while the promo is going on. sheesh!

    2. Thank you for the heads up! I hadn’t noticed so that was a nice surprise. I like the new dresses too.

  5. I received the embellished cardigan sweater today (AK181) in both the khaki and indigo. They look pretty, but I am not keeping them because they are way too thin for me. I don't think that I've ever held a sweater that thin. I didn't bother to try them on.

    1. @MmeJacqueline, thank you for the review. I haven’t received mine yet. Given your straightforward feedback I will be sending mine back as well. Simply not the quality of old jcrew.

    2. @Lynn: I've never come across a sweater that is that sheer, which is a shame considering the "embellishment." When I put my hand inside the sweater, I knew that I would not be comfortable wearing it, and it's not the type of sweater that I would want to layer. I'll be interested to hear what you think. It's so sad that the quality has slipped so very much. When I look at the shoes I have that are so nice, all leather, and made in Italy...well, I just sigh.

    3. Sorry to hear about the indigo embellished sweater, but I'm glad to be warned. I've been eyeing that sweater for awhile, wondering if it would be one of those neat day-into-evening items but I got the Chanel-style navy cardi recently with the white trim and it was almost too thin, though I kept it for a fresh summer look with white linen.

    4. Perhaps someone would use this sweater over a sleeveless dress, but I don't have any use for something like that, and it's still awfully sheer. The merino wool sequined Jackie is much better, although it's not exactly heavy. It pops back now and then, and shame on me for buying all three colors in that one, but I did. It is AE171.

  6. Ratti king crab boy shirt and tie waist linen pants. Fit was tts for me, but some may be able to size down in the shirt. The linen fabric is a good weight/quality and I'm pleased with the look of the print. I'm a Ratti fan, so it's hard for me not to be happy.

Linen rainbow stripe drawstring pants. I ordered my usual size; fit is tts since I really like a relaxed fit for this style. If that's not your preference, you can size down becaues the linen is going to stretch with wear and they're drawstring. Good quality and the color scheme makes these very versatile. Brilliant sunset and larkspur pink long sleeve linen shirts work well; I also have the short sleeve v-neck linen tee in neon flamingo and it's an option too. If you have the older version of the popover linen shirts in the candy stripe (think NWFY from a few years ago) and blue/white linen (last year and had a matching skirt), they will work too. So, very versatile. Will be a workhorse this summer as I work from home. Will be great for travel and vacation once that resumes at some future date.

Scalloped one shoulder bikin top in laser cut eyelet and matching hipster bottom in navy. Fit is tts and the eyelet detailing is very pretty. I'm a 36C and the top has appropriate upport for the girls and full coverage. Have a Bali vacation planned for August, but not sure if that's going to happen. If not, I'll have something pretty to look forward to wearing when vacation travel resumes for me.

Was able to order everything during the "magic hour," so very good deals.

Off topic. I was looking for silk joggers since my work attire is very casual. ATM has them on sale in navy and dark chocolate for an extra 25% off sale price of $68. I have them in black and love them. Also, Equipment and Joie are offering 60% off sale.

    1. Thanks for the reviews. I've been looking at the king crab shirt. My one reservation was the lack of contrast between the crabs and shirt background. Is the fuchsia/red contrast more apparent in person? You can't always tell what something looks like on a monitor.

      Delete
    2. I think the contrast is clear, but I know that’s a matter of interpretation. The product shot is an accurate representation of how it looks in person. Hope that’s helpful.

    3. Yes, that's helpful. Thanks.

    4. @Mygoddy, thanks for the description. I was wondering the same thing as well. Online it didn’t look too appealing to me but why not, will order and see what it’s like.Hopefully prettier than online:) I didn’t realize it was linen as I simply looked at the photo and passed. I loved the lobster Ratti online and when I received it was disappointed. Color wasn’t as pretty and quality wasn’t good.

    2. Thanks for the link! I loved Rynetta’s opening description of the Tippi, it’s my work go-to as well. And the “trapdoor” method that J.Crew used to keep their brand name is one of those things that just boggles my mind. When we look at website (or when we used to look at the catalogs, sigh) we just see the clothes, but there’s so many financial shenanigans going on behind closed doors, it’s a wonder they’ve been able to hang on as long as they have.

  8. Ann Taylor is having a big sale, and there are some stunningly low prices. As with J.Crew, Banana Republic, and many others, there are fabrics with questionable content, but there are a few possible gems among the rubble. I do keep my expectations low these days. Some things are final sale, but I don't get involved with that.

    1. @MmeJacqueline, I haven’t shopped Ann Taylor or Banana Republic in years. Ann Taylor was a pretty decent brand when I was a teenager years ago. I walked into an Ann Taylor last year and was simply overwhelmed by all the clutter. I can’t shop in a sea of clutter. I did purchase a cute skinny green Elephant buckled belt from Banana Republic a couple of years ago on sale however the buckle scratched easily etc. I pulled out an old jcrew anchor detailed bracelet from years ago and it’s held up well. Received quite a few compliments. Haven’t received the sweater yet but it will immediately send back after a quick look per your review. Agree on Jcrew’s shoes assessment, they haven’t made a decent shoe in years that’s comfortable or if a nice quality. I received a pair of strapped sandals that the model wear with the Ratti regatta poly pants ( which I love) even if poly. The sandals were stamped made in Italy. Felt like plywood and cheap looking. Sent back. I normally spend 40% of my time in Italy and I could pick up a pair for $10.00 more comfortable and better made than these:) Thank you again for the warning about the sweater. I also sent the sequined gingham checked top back. Purchased both blue and pink. Fabric is too heavy for my taste. Shame because I love sequins. Again, the old Jcrew items are much better. June 2nd is Jcrew’s next launch.

    2. So very true about both AT and BR. My first visit to AT was on 57th St. in NY in the very early 80's. The silk scarves had hand-rolled edges, and the shoes were Joan & David (all leather made in Italy). I continued to shop at the one in Greenwich, CT through the 80's and was always happy with my purchases. Back then, BR was very utilitarian and safari oriented. They had the jeeps built into the front of the store. They were both okay during the 90's, and I still have a cashmere cardigan from BR (circa 1994) that is lovely with no pilling. Imagine that!

Last spring I purchased a navy leather belt at AT to wear with jeans, and by the end of the summer, I threw it away. The leather was peeling. Honestly! I am so over these cheap throw-away things.

I'll be interested to see what J.Crew offers in the next few months. It must be very disappointing to be on the design team at these retailers when the execution and overall quality ruins the final product.

  9. J Crew on Zulily tomorrow. Some of the prices didn’t seem that terrible, especially if there’s something you’re waiting on to pop back. Looked like mostly stuff from last year.

    1. You may be able to shop today if you have a Zulily account (free). Also an item I had purchased on Friday was cancelled (Juliette cardi at $20). They wouldn’t honor another color but CS did give me a $20 discount code to use.

  10. OT, I went into our local Nordstrom today. First of all I felt so bad for the employees. I saw people entering and walking around without masks, touching all the clothing and behaving as if things were back to normal. There were hand sanitizers at the entrance, there were masks available if people didn’t have one. I don’t understand why the store manager didn’t enforce anything. Inside the store was void of so much merchandise. This was because previously they were fulfilling online orders. It was sad to see. I was told now the company will be doing their normal restocking etc. next week. You can’t touch anything in cosmetics but they have samples which they willing give you as usual. Not too many employees, but a couple of the ones I deal with were there. Note to everyone, it’s tough for them, they are frightened as are many others out there working. I am so angry by the lack of respect towards people out trying to earn a living. This includes everyone out working. Yesterday we had flyover. A salute to all the medical professionals, first responders, etc. What a slap in the face to all of these brave people not only here but everywhere. Thanks for listening to my rant and stay safe.

    1. Masks and social distancing aren’t being enforced by local governments, so it’s being left to individual businesses. And a lot of them are scared of angering customers who don’t believe that public health issues should impede on their individual rights. Or the businesses feel they have no legal standing to enforce masks or social distancing since they’re not actually law. I live in NYC and despite the fact we are still the epicenter of the state and country, a third of ppl I see walking outside aren’t wearing masks or aren’t covering their nose/mouth or social distancing.

    2. @eeps, thank you. Well put.

    3. Agree... been very frustrating walking around NYC. Folks just don’t understand! If we careless we will have another surge. I see this daily and if the rest saw and understand what is we see daily at the hospital they would rethink this...stay safe everyone!

  12. I was happy to see the pencil skirt in polka-dot textured tweed (white navy) pop back. It was only available one size up from my normal size, but I'll get it altered if necessary; this has been on my list for a long time.

Received a few items this week, mixed results:

-Odette block heel twisted knot sandal, neon flamingo (AJ768): Comfortable and pretty. Keeper.
-Slim perfect shirt in Baird McNutt Irish linen, French blue and white (L3026): Terrible fit, arms way too long. Returning.
-Mini disc earrings in acetate, tortoise (AJ711): Cute, easy for everyday wear. I already own these in white and they're excellent.
-Crystal circle barrette, rainbow/gold (AO551): Lovely, excellent quality, great for Pride Month, nice sparkle for Zoom calls. I already own this in crystal/gold.
-Shirtdress in Liberty Margaret Annie print with removable necktie (AK219): Awful poly lining. Poor fit on my 5'4" frame. Returning. Sad, I loved the print and the sweet bow.
-Embroidered eyelet flutter-sleeve T-shirt, honey brown (AN181): Nice casual shirt but runs a little narrow. The eyelet continues on the back as well (nice touch).
Tie-waist seaside pant in linen blend, desert sand, distressed fatigue (AN013): Runs wide and short. I wanted loose pants and I'm short, so these worked out well. Patch pockets on the rear (no pics online). I would have preferred slit pockets, but these will be handy for phone, etc.
-Factory sleeveless tiered dress, white (AO050): Runs big everywhere but a little snug across chest. Cute with wedges. No poly. Ordered black as well (backordered).
-Factory calf hair espadrille wedge sandals, leopard (AP565): Comfortable. Ankle strap is a little wider than I like, but the price makes up for it.
-Factory cork low block-heel sandals, cork (AO022): Comfy. Fit just like the Penny (retail) sandals. Goes with everything. Caveat: difficult to buckle, the cork material doesn't slid against itself easily.
-Factory lemon-print sleeveless tie-waist shirtdress (AO136): Not as washed out as I expected (very vibrant/crisp), which made the print look juvenile; too small across chest for me. Returning.
-Factory pearl and crystal hair clip set, ivory gold (AN118): Excellent.
-Factory pearl hoop earrings, pearl (AH124): They don't look real, but I just wanted something cheap and charming. Scored these for $6.80!
Factory beaded blossom drop earrings, white (AQ189): Paid full price, which seemed like too much at the time, but I haven't been able to find anything equivalent in the same price range/lower price range. I love white earrings for summer and these are lightweight and comfy.

  13. OT, but Stubbs & Wooton is doing a 20% off sale, which online applies to sale items as well. I called the Palm Beach store and a lovely associate Cinda (?) helped me with an order. With WFH, we decided to splurge on a pair of needlepoint slippers for me.

    1. @pbanos, she’s my friend at the store and a former long term JCrew employee at their old Palm Beach Gardens store.I recommended her here months ago on a post. She’s lovely and knows her product. I purchased a bunch of these shoes recently at 50%. They’re really throwing promotions out if you’re on their email list. Enjoy!

    2. : ) Yes, the promotion was very good, or I'd not have been tempted. It's the fallout from the lockdowns. Though these are meant to me at-home shoes for me, so I suppose the lockdown was an encouragement. I wrote to the store email to thank her, I do appreciate sales associates who make shopping a treat. Glad I called Palm Beach instead of NYC.

  14. Is this just mine or your orders get cancelled left and right too? I placed about 10 orders for 15+ items over the last week with the 50-60% sale and every single one of them got cancelled. It's sooo frustrating!
