This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
I went yesterday for a very quick trip to make a lot of returns. Unfortunately I had so many, I didn't have time to stick around and try on new things, though I wish I had! The store looked very spring-y, I could see they got most of the pieces in the favourite flowers print. Pretty busy for a Thursday afternoon as well, though nobody came up to the register to make a purchase. No promo signs were in the store on full-price items, I was in such a rush I didn't have time to go look in the back room at the promo for the sale section. I did receive an e-mail saying stores would be 30% off select full price items in-store only, dated Saturday and Sunday.
ReplyDeleteAlso, a PSA: If you've been hanging onto an extra 25% off code from the site crashes around the holidays, it expires April 30.
I have a few returns to make so may stop in. I did place an order this morning - didn't end up getting the shoes I had in my cart yesterday but did pick up the Liberty shepherdly song slides as well as some white jeans and white/navy polka dot shell.
ReplyDeleteHow depressing/sad
ReplyDeleteJ Crew's bankruptcy risk is pegged at 9.99% to 50% chance of bankruptcy within 12 months

J Crew is discussed below Neiman Marcus.

Not surprising given they’re trying to spin Madewell off as a public company. That way if JC goes down it doesn’t take Madewell with it. Of that list though I’d be sadder if Neiman Marcus went bankrupt.
DeleteHas anyone tried the Tassel-tie beach tunic in Ratti® scribble floral? I really love this print and am wondering about the fit of this tunic, thinking maybe I should size down.
ReplyDeleteMore items added to sale and some price reductions. White slingbacks are further reduced to 89.99 and the code works, however last week’s price with the added retailmenot code made them a lower price.
ReplyDeleteI did buy the pointy toe suede slingbacks in black, sized up from the silver since they were tight. I really liked the silver but the black would be more versatile. However I forgot the elastic back hurt but I’m hoping in the size up and the suede it works,
If you sign up for email, you’ll receive a one time use 15% off code that stacks with the current promo.
DeleteYes but I wouldn’t want to do that for every order. I already get emails.
DeleteYes, just suggesting that could be an option for the white slingbacks since you mentioned they were cheaper with Retailmenot promo code.
DeleteOh I was just commenting, the actual price difference was minimal and if I get an extra 15 off I want to use it for a big order, not a single purchase.
DeleteHas anyone ever tried on the cropped pants in stretch twill? One review said the pants were heavy. Do the pants run true to size? Are they really wide legged? Are they nice? I’m thinking about getting the navy.
ReplyDeleteI'll have a bunch of returns, but there is a lot I am keeping.
ReplyDeleteThe Stubbs & Wooton Mules, black velvet with bee arrived and I am in love. Very glad I went a full size up or I'd have been brokenhearted to return them. I'm planning to keep these as house shoes - we do not wear our street shoes inside, and I wanted something nicer than regular socks or slippers. These mules totally do it for me. Perfect for when we have visitors, but also everyday.
Also received a Factory cashmere tee at the very attractive price of $19.50 from the 70% off sale sale (Thanks for the heads-up @ruffles!) It fits well, a bit loose on me at the hip but a pretty peony color. I got it to wear with my blue&lavender tweed Lady Jacket, and it does work fine.
I also ordered a couple perfect tees at $7.65. I went with my usual S, thinking my old perfect tees are a bit loose. Now I'm second guessing and will probably exchange for M.
A bunch of socks for the Mr. and a very nice white dress shirt. I can't believe he did not have a decent white shirt, but now he does at a great sale price.
We're waiting on shoes (the wicked shoe sale got me again and again).
Finally I also received a non-Crew item, a jacket for my husband from Club Monaco. They are a bit more stylish for men, and a short jacket we'd looked at went on sale.
Nice score on SW mules! I ordered Factory cashmere tees too, so glad to know you liked them. My order should arrive tomorrow. Also ordered pink and black since it’s a good basic color.
DeleteCongrats on snagging those S&W mules, they are gorgeous! That embroidered bee is amazing.
DeleteMy husband has slipper envy ;- )
DeleteReceived several sale orders today and keeping most of what I’d ordered. Will make returns tomorrow.
ReplyDeletePoint Sur linen/tencel shorts. Fit is tts. I like my shorts to fit relaxed and linen will also loosen. Bought rose and mustard colors. Keeping both.
Linen roll sleeve tees. Fit tts. I can tuck them into my shorts or not. Didn’t have an issue with them being too short. Bought mustard and navy colors. Both are keepers.
Liberty Tretorn sneakers in navy/white print. Fit tts. Love these sneakers and can’t wait to wear them.
SZ Blockprints scarf in rose. The print is so pretty and I have a tunic with the same rose color. They’re so soft and work well for travel. It’s definitely a keeper.
Charlie metallic gold loafers. I ordered these when they were initially released and returned them. Don’t remember why. Fit is tts. They’re a nice option for casual wear. Going to compare to Ryan loafers I also ordered in gold.
Returning Nordic leopard boots and Perfect Winter boot. Despite the great prices, I know I won’t wear them enough.
I also ordered the Liberty Tretorn sneakers. I ordered my regular size, even though in the other Tretorns I have (Nylite) I had to go down 1/2. But these looked like a slimmer shape. I thought they were black/ivory, but navy is ok too.
DeleteI did get a 2nd pair of Nordic boots, but at $13.50 for the tan (Dune) color I couldn't resist. I will wear them with my light colored winter coat, I'm sure. I got the black last winter and they are comfy & warm. Not for the snow, but I have LL Bean boots for those days.

DeleteHi, pbanos.
DeleteI have the black ones and after two years, they still look pretty good. (Out of laziness, I did not weatherproof mine and they seem to be holding up ok and the salt stains are not visible.) But based on this blogger's experience, you may want to weatherproof your tan ones.
https://www.carlytheprepster.com/2018/01/winter-boots-love.html
Thanks Toronto! I can do this before it gets cold again.
DeleteStopped in for returns and the Nordic boots in leopard calf hair (Originally $298) had been price killed to $9.99 ($80 online with promos). SA said I could buy them back for that price, so I said ok :). Picked up Peyton linen pants in pink since they were included in 30% off promo and I had rewards. I’ve wanted to try them, but my size has never been available online. Didn’t see any of the new stuff that’s showing in pre-order. No additional % off sale.
Delete@Mygoddy: It would have been wrong and selfish of you NOT to buy the boots back! You will have to work quite hard to wear them. Excellent ;-)
Delete$298 down to $9.99? Sure that is some kind of record? 96.5% off?
DeleteSale update 1800+ and the return of horrible Playa swim, but no promo on sale. Without sale PAs or promo, what do they think will motivate anyone to buy sale?
ReplyDeleteIt’s crazy. Just like in the stores. Same velvet tanks on the sale racks. Get rid of it.
DeleteWell, in my case the cancelled Liberty shirt in white garden appeared. I almost didn't reorder, but it is $20, and I can still return (though likely I won't). Now only if the cancelled Drakes pumps show up in my size.
DeletePlus some of the 70%+ off shoes are a great deal. Not that I'm even looking at a shoe for the next 10 years. Well, not unless another pair of Stubbs & Wootons shows up in my size.
Delete“Well, not unless another pair of Stubbs & Wootons shows up in my size.” Ha ha, this reminds me of the Friends episode where they make a list of 5 people they’re allowed to cheat with if they ever get the chance. I think S&W will be permanently on my list!
DeleteI am going to return the following - white eyelet cardi (returned and rebought to get a better proce - it's pretty but see through!), navy crepe dress (horrible fabric - felt like something you could get at Macy's for $50), red-orange (vibrant flame?) eyelet backed sweatshirt (liked but didn't lurve), eyelet cami pajama set (see through and not flattering!), and two pairs of crewcut shoes (ordered multiple sizes). The poor SAs!
ReplyDeleteChecked out the popbacks - I'm guessing they are betting if it is something you are stalking, you might bite without a promo. I'm hesitant because they aren't so free with the price adjustments. I noticed the resume dress in dark seaweed (item C1902) is back - I have it and it's gorgeous. Much nicer than the navy "crepe" dress I am returning. Had I been stalking it, I might have been tempted at full price.
I am debating about whether to keep the glitter block heel pumps I ordered (item KO447). I ordered them over Christmas and the order got cancelled so I pounced when they popped back. I'm worried they won't break in. I got a pair of pointed toe brocade pumps (item K2646) during the crazy sale for $14.97 - I've worn them about ten times in my office and they are not breaking in at all. Too late to return, I don't know what to do with them. They are currently available on the website for $190!!!
Finally, if anyone sees the spaghetti strap lace dress in green size 00 or the point sur menagerie midi dress in 00, could you please LMK?
The spaghetti strap dress in fernwood green is item K4427
ReplyDeleteUnder preorder and early access are a bunch of new things. I like some of the silk items and hope they will come out in colors other than ivory. The ruffle halter is gorgeous but so expensive.
ReplyDeleteThat ruffle halter got me good, ordered in two sizes just to be safe. Also hoping it comes in more colors!
DeleteThe ruffle halter is beautiful from the front - not sure what that giant tie hanging down the back would look like on me though.
DeleteI'm not sure I'm going to purchase for that reason (plus the price and color issue). Makes it so fancy it's hard to imagine wearing for anything but a party. Maybe it could be tied a bit higher. We'll see.
DeleteLace-trimmed top L8076: This top is special. Lightweight but not sheer. It's a little oversized but I think that's intentional. Pronounced peplum hem and bell sleeves. Some reviewers online said it was short but I don't feel that it is.
ReplyDeleteTie-neck shell L7237. TTS. Not sure I like it. Single button placket is tricky if I try to tie it normally, looks nice if I tie it below the button. The top overall looks nice enough but something is missing.
Panda! I have L8076 bookmarked for a future order! Do you find it TTS?
DeleteI took my regular size and found it slightly oversized but in a way that I found flattering. I did not have the option to size down, so did not try to do so. As I stated above, it is not short or long. Hope that helps.
DeleteThank you so much for your reply Panda! I'll try it out :D
DeleteI got a popback of the Dulci heels (the ones that were made in Italy, not the new, inferior ones), and they arrived today with price tags on the box and on the shoe (I think it was a display model, it's a clear label strip) that are in GBP! I think they came from a store in the UK! That's kind of cool. It is weird that the shoebox had the new script logo rather than the old caps, block print logo that was around when these shoes came out.
ReplyDeleteSome of the items from the large sale update a couple of weeks ago were from the UK. I notices that on a belt and a sweater.
DeleteJust had an order with two items from the big 50% off sale cancelled on me. Not heartbroken because I really bought too much in the past two weeks but with the slow shipping and cancellations clearly JC still hasn’t gotten a hold on their inventory problems.
ReplyDeleteThe new PA policy has me looking at sale differently now. As in, “How am I going to feel tomorrow when this is an additional 50% off what I paid and I can’t get a PA?” I understand it’s something they had to do, but that insurance policy has resulted in some incremental purchases over time that I’m going to be less willing to make unless it’s something I can’t live without.
ReplyDeleteSame. I could see limiting PAs but if an item hasn’t yet shipped or arrived, that’s just wrong.
DeleteSuz, “hasn’t shipped or arrived” seems very fair!
DeleteITA. I recently asked Banana to do this on two shirts that were still in stock in my desired color/size. They refused, so I promptly placed another order for the exact same things. I returned both,m orders when I didn’t like the tops, so they were both shipped free and then returned. Do retailers really think people won’t just re-buy?
DeleteAnthropologie changed their PA policy months ago, and it was so frustrating, especially when items hadn't even shipped yet. I returned and repurchased almost everything, as it seemed to be marked down more within a week, and since all my items still had tags and were unworn, I did this. It was such a pain, especially since they had such a generous policy before. It really made me dislike shopping there.
DeleteI'm sad JC has taken this route, but I now I know not to buy ANYTHING that is final sale. On the bright side, I think this does make one buy a lot less, as it has to be worth it.
with so many people complain about j crew i am just happy it is still around and i can enjoy shopping there. In its hay day 007-2008 i was younger and with less money and bought way less. The silk cat print shirt I bought at 20-30 dollars, many stores either don't offer items like that anymore or they are way more expensive. I bought silk items in Target/Old Navy/Gap in 2006 era but not anymore. The days will never come back. So enjoy Jcrew while you still can.
ReplyDeleteAfter awhile you wonder what JC is bringing to a very crowded market. Pre-downfall, it had a particular design aesthetic that was worth the price. It had excellent quality, and customer service. Now the design aesthetic looks like everything else in the mall. My mom has been pointing out a lot of new JC clothes look and feel like “stuff they have a Target, so why don’t you just shop there instead?” I’m not opposed to buying clothes at Target (I was a devout of their designer collabs) but that statement says a lot about how far JC has fallen from being an aspirational brand as Jenna and Mickey imagined it. Now the customer service is going downhill too. So right now, what’s setting JC aside from the competition? As far as I can tell, next to nothing.
DeleteEeps, you nailed it. J Crew is still my go-to not because the design, style, quality, or customer service are unique or better than what else is out there. It’s because of habit, familiarity and nostalgia.
DeleteI've tried to find clothes at other stores from Nordstrom to Ann Taylor to Banana Republic. Very difficult to find ANYTHING I like in the price range I'm used to spending. The quality has gone down everywhere. Even Nordstrom - lots of low quality crap for prices higher than I'm willing to pay. Agree with ceces, miss the old days but very glad J Crew is still around because everywhere else I've looked is offering similar or worse quality for similar or higher prices.
DeleteI agree Shopalot. I buy Tory Burch on sale (her clothes are so well made) and I am hanging on to some of my older J Crew clothes. Essex makes some very incredible cotton shirts (feels like silk) that I am buying (classic staples that will last forever) and I am buying much less than I once did. You can still find vintage J Crew for very reasonable prices on Poshmark.
ReplyDeleteTory Burch is fantastic but they have like 4 sales per year and keep their prices high.... I don’t have many clothes but have tons of their shoes which are fantastic but even the biggest sale run about $100.... outlets are good but no longer ship out.... so it’s just waiting for a sale....
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing it with us. It is really nice postand very informative also.
