This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.
So
if you have recently purchased,
or stopped by a J.Crew store to try
on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you
might be willing to share that
information with us in this post.
Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.
In
particular, if you could
mention a few of the noteworthy
details like fit, size, fabric, and the
like— that would be fantastic! Thanks
in advance! :)
They really don’t make shopping easy. Another new code, SOGOOD. I did a test on an item that said “extra 50 off with code” and it didn't work. Too much effort.
ReplyDeleteToday was the demise of the retailmenot code. Surprised it lasted so long!
DeleteI tried it too - sad trombone. Agree it lasted much longer than expected.
DeleteSuz, me too. Why does it say extra 50% off if it isn’t? Probably a sign I should not order anything!
DeleteI picked up the Adidas Samba sneakers (J9123) in periwinkle this morning for $29.49. I couldn’t get the retailmenot code to work either, but I’m ok with the price I paid. I’ve been stalking these for quite a while, but I never saw my size available until now. Hopefully they ship and are in new condition.
ReplyDeleteLove the color and that is a great price. I hope they ship for you.
DeleteOT: Anyone know when the next rollout is? I'm debating ordering a Liberty popover with the great price today. I might want to wait for a shirt in the Ciara print as only a headband and mens tie available in this print now.
ReplyDeleteI just received the Tretorn tournament sneakers in Lilac and I love them! I have really narrow feet so I often have to size down in sneakers, and this was the case here. I am a true size 8 in flats and heels but took a 7.5 in these. They have massaging insoles and feel like slippers. I am not one for multiples, but if they ever pop back, I may have to buy more!
ReplyDeleteI ordered both a 7.5 and an 8, so the 8 is going back. If anybody is interested, let me know before I return them. I believe they were $29 on sale and I used my student discount.
Also, I received the Liberty popover in swirling petals. Someone had commented Liberty items are running shorter this season. No joke! It is super short on me especially on the sides and huge, so it is going back. The print is lovely though so if you're on the shorter end, it may work for you.
I bought those in ivory, black and lilac last summer from lord and Taylor. They also had a suede tretorn with stars I got in black/silver and pink/rose gold. Both pairs are so comfortable. They’re perfect for wearing to softball tournaments when I want to be cool but know I’ll be walking through dirt and grass. My only complaint with the tournament ones is the insole often comes out when I take them off.
Delete(As usual I bought some for my girls too. The lilac and pink stars.)
DeleteTretorns take me back. I used to wear them all the time as a teen. I'm not sure how I'd do with them now that my feet are wider and I need a more supportive shoe, but I am tempted to try them.
DeleteThe net ones are not wide but I do find the more traditional style runs big and maybe a little wide. They’re light as air and very comfy.
DeleteI find the mesh ones less comfy for longer walks, but not bad.
I failed to mention in my comment yesterday about my latest order that the eco denim jacket was a win for me and at a great price of $35. I have a medium/dark wash J.Crew denim jacket that's from 03 or 04 which I still wear constantly and a lighter more fitted one I bought from Poshmark. I went with a medium in this and it's a more relaxed fit, slightly boxy and a lighter denim wash. I had tried the oversized denim jacket at one point and it was too much - this is slightly oversized without being sloppy and it's a good alternative to the darker wash one. Definitely a winner for the price.
ReplyDeleteThe eco toothpick jeans and the 10" toothpicks with release hem are going back. I still haven't opened my stiletto boots but hoping the 9s work for the price they were! I also received my grey cocoon coat - on the topic of good price adjustments, this netted about $60 and it has functional pockets. I thought it would be a slightly older verison but it's from fall 2016 which must have been the last year before they switched to the other pocket style. I sized down to a 4 which is consistent with my other Cocoon coat. Glad to tuck this away for next winter.
I poked around this morning in the sale section but nothing I would have purchased was eligible for the sale. I have my eye on a few of the new tops but I'll wait for a promo or for them to pop back later on sale. I'm a little frustrated that some of the new items don't show the item on a model. I had L8076 the lace trimmed short sleeve top in my cart this morning but it's sold out now. I'd like to see that in person - it's only a stock photo online.
On the topic of tops, has anyone tried L3037 the Point Sur Button Front Square Neck top in cotton poplin? It's backordered until June - have seen the style on other bloggers, etc. and wondering if I can pull this off and if so if I should stick with a small (6 on top) or go down to an XS.
ReplyDeleteI dug out my spring/summer items from the basement and compared my 2018 Point Sur Seaside pants in linen/tencel to my newest Point Sur Seaside pants in cotton twill that I received last week. As I suspected, the linen/tencel is a more substantial fabric than the cotton twill. The cotton twill pants really thin and soft — they look and feel cheap, and show every bump and bulge. They’re also 1.5” shorter than the linen/tencel version, and definitely fit tighter. All this to say, the cotton twill pants are going back. The description said "Our best-selling seaside pant, now in 100 percent cotton so it's weighty enough for between-seasons weather”, which is exactly what I wanted, but far from what I got. I’d prefer to wear the linen/tencel pants in May or September over these any day.
ReplyDeleteStyling the natural rattan clutch on the blog today. Quality is good and consistent with previous releases. Also available in pink this year.

How does it close? Does just tucking the leather ribbon through the slot keep it stuck shut reliably? It's super cute but I'm waiting for it to be eligible for promo.
Deletei tried the new clunky wedge sandals and slides. sadly a return for both.
ReplyDelete.each shoe weighs about five pounds w no support and rough materials. sad. quality just not there anymore.
Received the Ruched-sleeve top in the black/ivory floral and it’s a rare keeper for me. It’s poly but has a decent hand and drape, and I love that the print has birds in it. The sleeve detail is cute and the length is flattering. I found it TTS in my usual S. It has a built in cami which I will remove. If the quality is up to par and it washes/wears well, I think it is a very nice, elevated basic.
ReplyDeleteI really like this print and tried it in store several months ago after admiring it online. Unfortunately the cut and style didn’t work for me. I remember looking for another style in the same print but didn’t see anything else.
DeleteSuz, it’s a great neutral print and it’s too bad they didn’t make more items in it.
DeleteHas anyone noticed the “start a return” option in order history? I’ve logged on to j crew a dozen times today to see if my items shipped and didn’t notice until now. I have nothing to return, but when I started a mock return it gave me two months from today to return it. Also if note, when I tried to do a mock return for a final sale order of one item it said there were “no items eligible for returns”. Perhaps after 30 days you can return by mail only? Very confusing! I will stick to returning ASAP to store.
ReplyDeleteI received the RUFFLE TIE-WAIST DRESS IN LIBERTY® FAVORITE FLOWERS today (sorry for caps, I copied it from my e-mail). As I worried, the non-set-in sleeves are pretty voluminous, but what I did not expect is that it is SHORT! I'm 5'4" and it fell mid-calf on me, indecent in the back when I bent over. I've also been spoiled by Boden and am disappointed whenever dresses don't have pockets anymore. Back it goes, along with a huge box of other returns from the extra 40% off sale. All of my denim popbacks were a bust- I received 3 pairs of clearly used jeans (no hang tags, pilling of the denim, interior care tags wrinkled from washing, stubs of cut off "remove before wearing" tags).
ReplyDeleteI’ve already returned 60% of my recent purchases from the big promos in April and will be adding two more: light pink Tippi and the ciao baby tee. I have a few Tippis in dark colors and wanted something light for spring. The pink is nearly see through. Same with the light gray of the Bonjour Tippi, which I also returned. The ciao baby tee looks someone embroidered the words on a Hanes undershirt. It wasn’t a feminine fit at all - really looked like a cotton undershirt. I tried rolling the sleeves to style it but no avail. Got both at excellent prices but not worth keeping. I have one more item yet to arrive - a hooded sweatshirt. Surely JC can’t get that wrong but they’ve astounded me before with poor quality.
ReplyDeleteI admit I went a little nuts ordering with all the promos too... But I must have returned like 80% of it over fit and quality issues. So far I've spent a third of what I spent last month and that includes a new sports bra from athleta.
DeleteEeps, I returned a pink Tippi last year for the same reason - it was practically see-through.
DeleteReceived Liberty ballet flats. Fit is tts and this is a cute style for spring and summer. Bow works best when tied on the side. Also received velvet pointed flats with bow from holiday. I usually size up a half size in mules and this was the right decision. They’re a pretty option that can be dressed up or down and the glitter soles are a plus.
