This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
Well, my foray into tall jeans for extra length didn't work out. It was close but not quite right. But, since the prices were super cheap, I did order the same jeans in regular and they seem fine. I guess the models being 6 feet tall throw my perception off. And the new jeans come at a perfect time. I literally ripped a giant hole in my jeans yesterday. Unfortunately, it was too wide and too high up to salvage.
ReplyDelete50% off sale this morning - cardlove doesn't seem to be stacking for an extra 20% off but the retailmenot code is still stacking. I reordered the point sur shoreditch straight in bright worn wash in two sizes since I'm beyond the price adjustment window. I stopped in earlier this week for returns, probably won't go this weekend.
ReplyDeleteI got cardlove to work with retail me not code.. but the item I tested was on sale but not part of the 50%.
DeleteI give up.
I bit on the Vintage straight eco jean in medium wash ($15.72) and the Vintage straight jean in rip-and-repair ($20.82). I don't have a JCC but stacked the retail me not code.
DeleteGreat - more jeans I can't wear to work *hangs head*.
Posting retailmenot code because I keep going back to Miss JR's post from 3/29 (thank you Miss JR!) dbc256517209194
DeleteThanks Miss JR and Cheritheberry! Combined the codes and got some great deals. Cheri, I reordered the same jeans because the prices were so good and I'm past the price adjustment window. :)
Deletewelcome! but someone else originally posted the code... i just keep copying it so i don't forget it! :)
DeleteMe, too! After the CARDLOVE disappointment, I'm glad that the retailmenot code combining still works.
Delete@Shopalot, that's great! How did you find they fit?
Delete@Miss JR, well yours is the post I kept going back to because it's been on the JCA front page :)
@Cheritheberry, both are pretty high rise but fit very well. I especially like the hem on the eco jean - it's slightly darker than the jeans. I can't wear distressed or holey jeans to work so I like to get them for less $$ since they'll be weekend only jeans. I wear a 25 and they do get a little baggy on me as my rear end is minimal. I probably should try a 24 at these prices and see how the fit is but I don't have a store close by anymore.
Delete@Shopalot Thank you, that was very helpful! Same story :)
DeleteI ordered just a 25 in the darker and a 24/25 in the looser and the 25 will probably be good because I have a big butt lol.
Hi JCAs - correct me if I'm wrong, but CARDLOVE seems to give you the 50% off sale items AND the additional 20%. I did a mock checkout with a $44.99 pair of jeans. CARDLOVE changed the price of the jeans in the cart to $22.49, and then in the grey "Summary" box on the right hand side there's an additional $4.50 deducted from that. You can then apply the RTM code on top of that (-$3.37), bringing the total to $15.xx depending on your taxes. I could only see the additional % off when I was on the final order checkout page. Hope this helps!
DeleteYep, that worked for me silver_lining. Dang it. I tried to resist, but $15 jeans (and I really love my one pair of vintage straight- they fit me perfectly), $20 liberty perfect shirt, few others... I caved.
DeleteThanks for the heads-up regarding the CARDLOVE offer. It gave me 50% off plus the additional 20%. I also used the retailmenot code. Got a pair of Point Sur seaside pants I’ve had my eyes on for $22, which I’m happy with. :-)
DeleteDamn. Hangs head in shame here too.
DeleteI tried to be mindful but to try jeans for under $15...generally vintage straight doesn’t work for my shape to fit how I want but at least they’re not final sale. Last time I tried a pair they were too tight on my legs but loose above so I kind of hope these don’t work either.
Other than that I just got two plain white Supima tshirts and that deep v sleeveless poly shirt in black, taking a chance that I won’t expose my non-cleavage for about ten bucks.
I stopped myself (or Cher did) from buying mahogany wide leg pants for under $25 (one would think I’d learn after returning the red black plaid wide leg pleated pants after realizing they’re too loud for me) and the Chambray shirt dress which just looks too shapeless for me.
Suz - I ordered that black top too on the recommendation of my friend said it was very flattering and showed respectable cleavage. She owns a bra shop locally though so may be biased but I'm giving it a shot :) Now I'm sad I couldn't get all of the codes to work! Not sure I feel like fussing for a price adjustment.
DeleteI like the way the sleeves are cut out. I am concerned about the v but I can always add a little hook or pin if I feel it’s too low,
DeleteSeems to me there are a lot of exclusions. Anything that’s part of the weekly deal I guess.
ReplyDeleteYes, I was all excited about some items on my wishlist, then realized they were all excluded.
DeleteSeems like anything in the sale section that is promo (XX.00) is not included, but anything ending in .99 is included. Which is annoying to learn AFTER I had already gone through the sale section and made my selections. I ended up with two final sale items, which is not my fave way to shop, but the reviews seemed enough to chance it. I got the 7" chino shorts, which is about 2-3 inches longer than my usual shorts length. I'm a little worried about them looking too mature bc most of the reviews were from women saying they were all middle aged and needed more coverage. I'm in my late 30s and I just don't want to be wearing booty shorts anymore. Is 7" too long for my age? I went by the model photo and she looked cute in them.
DeleteAlso got the Point Sur paperbag pant in petite. I don't own any PS items, but I wanted something to wear with last year's giraffe print OTS top. I think someone here had suggested it for styling. Nervous because it's FS. Anyone here with reviews?
Lastly got the textured lady cardigan in green/navy, went up a size due to the reviews. I've found with those fabrics that they tend to get misshapen and the least bit of stretch on them will cause the button lines in the front to warp and expose skin if all buttoned up? I think with the cute neck tie this cardigan should be worn buttoned up, right? Lately I've been into buttoning my cardigans nearly to the top and tucking them into skirts like a 1950s look.
@eeps, I have the Point Sur paperbag pants in the navy/khaki stripe. I got my smaller size (2 Tall) to make them full length instead of crops. They are very high waist due to the fabric above the belt. Also super comfortable and they drape well. I think the fabric be different, since the stripe pair is dryclean, but the cut looks the same. They are keepers for me.
DeleteI also have the 7" chinos from last summer. I like this length for 'going out' shorts. They have a neat look and can be dressed up with mules or a low heel sandal. I wear shorter inseams around home. I don't think anyone needs to dress based on an age number. But I do think longer shorts can be worn with a little heel as well as with flat shoes but shorter shorts are better with sneakers or flat sandals. For some reason the white/olive and khaki ran larger than the navy/grey or pink colors.
@pbanos - thanks! I feel better about my purchases now. The reviews say the pants run long - I’m 5’1 and I think the petite will end up being regular length on me. Which is not exactly what I had in mind, but maybe I can turn up the hems. You make a good point about longer shorts and heels. I’ve never worn heels with shorts because I always used to buy 3-4 inch inseams and they look so tarty with heels but I gotta try that out! I got the navy shorts, so I’m thinking a nice pair of blue heeled sandals and a silk top might be a nice weekend look (since I can’t wear shorts to work). How do we feel about blazers with longer shorts?
DeleteI don’t wear longer shorts but agree that they could work with a heeled sandal and I’m laughing at the Tarty remark. That’s so funny. And accurate. I wear blazers with my shorts so I think it can definitely work with a longer length.
DeleteI worked in Bermuda for a couple of weeks - so there it was totally normal for guys to wear shorts (Bermuda of course!) with a navy blazer + knee socks and wing tips. Anyway, of course you can pair a blazer with tailored shorts. Its a fun seasonal transition look.

ReplyDeleteNordstrom has the Limoncello tee in white in case anyone is interested.
ReplyDeleteI hope it becomes available on the JCrew site so I can use all the promo codes.
Delete;)
Oh wow, so much better! I tried the khaki version in store and it really is drab. Not quite brown, not quite olive. Also, the white version looks like the design is more centered. I do hope the Crew gets the white version! It seems a shame to buy it elsewhere if you don't get reward points.
DeleteI was able to resist the last time but this time I bit the sale and bought the tie-neck dress, tie-front top, wide-leg crop pant in 365 crepe, a pair of suede smoking slippers, and the sleeveless cowlneck top for $135 total. Slightly embarrassed because of my weak will, but I just paid off my student loan so I'm using this as an excuse.. I've been loving the look of the tie-neck dress, hopefully it fits!
ReplyDeleteNothing I've bought recently is eligible for price adjustment . I already own everything I like from April roll out and ready for the new arrivals.
ReplyDeleteWow, well I’m glad for my sale order yesterday.
ReplyDeleteI looked at those super wide leg Collection pants too. My Mom wore the same thing in the late 1970's. In the days of the 'cocktail party' my parents went out a lot. In my real life I'd never get a chance to wear such dramatic party wear.
DeleteI did get a price adjustment on a belt I bought between sales for my husband. And I also found a pair of black wide leg trouser jeans in a 25. I ordered the 26 at a prior sale for $20 and these were price matched. Not sure about size. I wore my pair in the Lagoon wash yesterday and was very comfortable in the 25's. They are sneaker length, so I wore sneakers for 'casual' Friday at work. Those pants run very large as they are the only garment I wear in a 25, I am a 26 or 27. They are not tight, not even on my large thighs. But the black pair may fit differently since the denim seems stiffer. I also wore my Ashbury flares in Palmetto wash last Tuesday. They pass off like a twill trouser since they do not have topstitching and are not a denim color. I'd wear the black wide leg trouser jeans the same way, pretending they are not jeans.
I also ordered a sweatshirt hoodie at $14, not final sale.
One of the women I work with bought the cotton leopard sheath dress. I took mine to work for her to try on and she was really pleased.
If they’re not too long I’d wear them with a sleeveless top and sandals to dinner, which is how I’ve worn my Madewell ones that are not quite as wide. I find pants like that really easy to wear and comfortable to dress up or down, but for me the mahogany color is just too limiting.
DeleteSpeaking of wide leg jeans my Everlane denimDrop 02 are set to arrive today. I ordered three sizes because I really wasn’t sure if more fitted or loose would be most flattering, so we shall see.
OT, Madewell has a CEO now for the first time

Wonder what this new focus means for J. Crew.
So my Everlane denim drop 2 arrived. I followed the size charts but still ordered three sizes just in case. My regular Jcrew toothpick size works the best EXCEPT the leg lengths are not exactly the same and at the slightly cropped length it’s very obvious to me, and of course theyre sold out.
ReplyDeleteThe size down fits tight and anyone approaching 50 and older might remember lying on a bed to put your jeans up and zipper them, that’s how these are. But the denim is all cotton and sturdy, it reminds me of washed Levi’s (not as stiff as raw denim) so they may give a size with wear. The cut is def reminiscent of the late 70s/early 80s high waisted jeans. The darker color is a traditional blue jean color. I really love them and hope I can figure out the leg length/size issue.
I do have to compare them to the Point Sur wide leg crop denim I got this winter. Something about these is more flattering, I think due to the rise and width of the leg.
The size up still fits but it’s a little looser around the waist and the leg seems much larger.
Thanks for this review. I had signed up for these but the email came when I was at work, and by the time I got home they were sold out! I'm really not looking for denim anyway, so probably a good thing. If you post photos on Insta I'll want to see them.
DeleteYes I did post. The tight pair and the perfect fitting pair with the crooked legs!
DeleteThey both suit you. Since the legs are not tight the small pair looks fine, but would it be uncomfortable? I hate anything that pinches at the waist. I prefer the pair with the uneven legs - I guess you could hope for a return, or see if Everlane would discount enough to pay for a tailor?
DeleteI could use a pair of pants with uneven legs, since my one leg is longer than the other. I always think pants are uneven, but it is because I am uneven!
@Suz thanks for the memory of 80s-tight jeans! I also remember looping a coat hanger through the zipper to get my jeans zipped up. I hope you can get an exchange from Everlane when they start getting some returns. However, if they can’t help you, I honestly think you’ll only ever notice the leg length issue when standing in front of a mirror with your feet together. When you’re sitting or walking it won’t be noticeable to you or anyone else.
DeleteOops, I missed the email but they have another 24 to send me so I’ll be able to compare. Hopefully it’s not gone already.
DeleteThanks ladies.
ReplyDeleteI know one of my thighs is a little wider than the other but I measured both with a tape measure and by folding the pants and there is a difference,
I also compared these to the Point Sur wide leg with the custom let down hem. As expected the rise on these is a little higher, and the legs are narrower. It’s a big enough difference that I feel these are much more slenderizing whereas the Point Sur are just comfortable.
I like the narrower bottom too.
DeleteSo today I'm wearing good old Matchstick denim in just-short-of-neon coral. I know the lower rise is not a thing anymore but I don't really care. It will be a thing again soon enough! The Matchsticks are such a good fit for me - my big calves love the narrow straight leg.
That is a good point shopgrrrl! About it only being noticeable while standing legs together.
ReplyDeleteI stopped in today in my travels. Nice to see the SAs as I haven’t been to the store, nor made a purchase, in weeks. I was hoping for something to wow me, but everything is so casual, so basic, so extremely average IMO.
ReplyDeleteI keep trying, but I seem to be among the formerly-obsessed J Crew customers who have lost interest. I keep hoping the next rollout willl change my mind.
Same. Even Alexis said on her Insta that she was sick of JC.
DeleteI'm mainly shopping my closet and picking up old-school 'Crew from eBay/PM/ThredUp that I missed the first time around. Still like to check in here but it's mostly out of habit.
I generally don’t Iove what’s available in my local store. Not into the graphic or word tees or too much color/pattern so I know what I like is different than what most do. I definitely see a decline in fit and quality which is more frustrating than anything else. If I saw walls of simple linen or cotton pieces in a variety of colors and silhouetttes (And prints) that actually fit nicely I’d be content.
DeleteSo I got the Button-front linen midi dress in faded indigo stripe (L2571). I got my usual size 4 and a size 6 to try because reviews were leaning towards it running small.
ReplyDeleteThe size 4 fits but it's snug around the rib cage. The 6 is more comfortable in the rib cage but way too big in the bust. I do really like it but I'm not sure what to do. Keep the 4 and hope it loosens a bit while wearing it? Or spend the extra money to have the bust taken in on the 6? Or just return them altogether?
Need a black dress?

CA and USA are much different prices 😂
Deletethe promo works on that ha!
DeleteGeez, I wish I even vaguely liked this dress!
DeleteHuh, if I liked it I'd pay the shipping charge to the US. Is is just me, or does it give the poor model a wedgie?
DeleteOMG. Did no one notice that? What the heck. I had no idea what you could possibly mean and had to look. 😳
DeleteToday it's .99 less 40% with the code. And a best seller (no wonder!)
DeleteWhat a bargain!
