I went to the Pre Black Friday sale. It was pretty packed. Not a ton to buy but I did get tweed loafer mules for only $24 and the bright pink sold wrap sweatshirt for $10. So with the clearance having the extra 40 off too the deals were not bad at all. I will go back to another store Black Fri but imagine it will be even more picked over by then.

ReplyDeleteHi Victoria, you can call CS and complain. They might offer you a one-time 40% discount for your order. Try it. I complained about my shopping experiences this Sunday and they gave it to me :)
DeleteAfter hearing about it from other JCAs for awhile now, I got my first random "Here's What's in Your Shopping Bag" email from J.Crew, showing the Striped one-shoulder ruffle top. One-shoulder? Strike one! Ruffle? Strike two! Sending me an email about an item I would never have put in my shopping cart and would give away even if I received it for free? Strike three, J.Crew, you're outta there!
ReplyDeleteFrom the sounds of it, the cardholder promotion was more than successful this weekend. It just goes to show that the loyal shoppers are waiting for a good sale or mark down and then they'll bite. Clearance is not going to move out of the store or website unless a buyer feels like they are getting a good price. Giving you an extra percent off is the way to move that merchandise but all that off the shoulder stuff may stay there forever.

DeleteHello Nordstrom is having pre-sale of their JCrew stuff at 40% off. A lot of it is old, but there are a few shoes that are marked lowered on their site than Jcrew, and no final sale (at Nordis) in case anyone is interested.

DeleteYay!! I love pop-backs especially at Nordstrom since they don't do final sale. Just FYI if you see an item @ a lower price on JCrew online, you can always call Nordis, and they will honor the lower price. It has to be offered to everyone online, no special 15%-20% bundled offers :)
DeleteWent in Sunday to place an online order using the promo. I didn't get an invitation but knew about it from here (thank you!). My gift guide came the day before so I ordered my son some holiday socks and picked up the terrier top, lace up sweatshirt, tunic sweatshirt, and a v neck boyfriend style sweater for myself. At 40% off I agree with other JCAs this is how to move clearance. My store still had more bodysuits in the clearance section than there were bodies in the store. My store is in an outdoor higher end mall (for our area) and is having an event on Saturday for kids. I told the store manager that they should plan ahead and have a small Crewcuts section out for purchase for all the families coming through. It'd be a great way to sell things to families needing holiday outfits or gifts. In other news for those who didn't get a $50 off card, mine just arrived today so yours may be stuck in the mail too!
ReplyDeleteDidn't feel like dealing with the stores yesterday but went by today to make returns to both J.Crew and Madewell.
ReplyDeleteFor anyone curious, I got the Anywhere jean in black and hated them. I probably could have used a size down anyway but I did like the look or the fit.
Neither store had much going on today, though there was a board at the entrance to Crew with some store savings which I didn't even closely read. (30% off tops was one). Since I know yesterday was 40% off there was no way I'd bother.
I did see a few new arrivals, some holiday patterned women's tops that were cute, if not a little over the top. (One was that white background forest green and navy plaid in a popover with black beads that looked like snow flakes and some tulle.) There is a lightweight cotton Stewart plaid button down in a larger scale pattern. And a black with gold metallic polka dots. A cardi with a beaded neckline that was cute, but I think for my purposes a plain black cardi with a necklace would work better.
I did find the lamé mini that I wanted to try and it was ok. Maybe at 40% off with my rewards I'd consider it.
Re anywhere jean, I did NOT like the look or fit.
DeleteThanks for the heads up on the upcoming items. I ordered the Madewell straight fit denim in tall/black on Sunday. I am tired of skinny and trying to give this fit a try. I didn't really like the anywhere denim either.
DeleteI'm back to trying skinny jeans again, mostly because they do work better with ankle boots and my old ones need replacing. That was another new J.Crew item, a nice black wash jean, that looked like washed black denim, not solid black twill. I really liked the wash but just got a black pair from Madewell and didn't feel like trying them on.

I am looking forward to new rollout tomorrow am. I called CS to complain about the problems with my wishlist and online shopping bag. I mentioned not being able to shop last Sunday since my wishlist was wiped out. They graciously offered me a one-time 40% off my purchase this week if I call back with my order. I will wait for the new rollout and will place my order tomorrow. I need to use that reward card anyway.
