"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I finally just received the scalloped underwire top that I bought on sale months ago after having to wait for my sister to mail it to me abroad (which took 7 weeks!). I have two tops in similar underwire/halter styles from the last two years and they fit perfectly in a 34D (for reference my bra size is 34DD), but I bought the same size in this one and it's wayyyy too big! It's more like a 38DD or maybe a 36E.I expect a bit of inconsistency, especially from year to year, with XS-XL type sizing but when it's listed in more specific bra sizing I expect it to be both accurate and consistent. It's so pretty that I want to try to make it work but I don't think it's possible unless I'm planning on putting on some weight. It's not uncomfortable so I might try wearing it in place of a bra under sheer tops in the summer.. more likely it will just gather dust in my closet until I get over it and put it up on ebay.

  2. Paying big bucks for Liberty flats that are defective on the soles. J.Crew's quality is really the pits anymore.

Had problems with their other Liberty jackets as well. Done with anything from them Liberty related.

  3. Bought the Acid Floral silk top. I saw the print on the cover of the latest catalog, and couldn't resist - but the pants are completely impractical for me. Anyway, I wore the top ONCE to a party, and got tons of compliments on it. We were at the party for *maybe* 4 hours. When I came home, the top had a bunch of tiny little pulls in the fabric all over. I was wearing NOTHING that would snag or pull on it, and I am gravely disappointed in the quality of the silk used! For $98, that's just ridiculous. The same thing happened to a bright pink chiffon silk top I bought last year. I chalked the pulls up to wearing the top too often - 6 times or so - but ONCE? That's unacceptable, and I'm not sure how to go about approaching Jcrew. Should I call customer service or attempt to go through the B&M?

    1. I had an issue with a merino cardigan pilling after one day of wear and I took it back to the store and exchanged for a new one without any difficulties.

    2. Your B&M should take that back. I've never had a problem at the B&M returning something for a quality issue.

    1. Oh totally agree Gigi! I stocked up on those, but would love some new ones. I used them as gift bags all the time.

  6. I received the tortoise flip flops and one had the straps totally attached wrong -- both of them were twisted. Oh well, I'll just stick with my ON pair.

  7. I went into my store last night, and a saleswoman was helping someone else. She had some cute stuff in her arms, and I wanted to ask where those pieces were. After trying to get her attention, she looked at me, and went back to her client. She wouldn't even acknowledge me. No one else greeted me or helped me either. So I left and spent money at Banana Republic instead.

  8. The 20% off coupons that J. Crew inserted in a recent package don't work. The codes are invalid, even though I am within the valid dates to use them.
