J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  2. OT - A Kate Spade surprise sale has kicked off. up to 75% off. Unlike some past sales, this one has a lot of good, solid bargains. Stuff ya actually will want. Some picks!

    1. Good catch Gigi, thank you! I had to get the flamingo tote (called the tropica dayton) -- my daughter has loved flamingos since she was 2 and insisted on pink flamingo decorations for her third bday (yes, on the lawn too!) to my husband's chagrin.

Also recommend the athenee collar necklace -- this trend is not so big anymore, but these necklaces (in both black and neutral) are very lovely and IMO quite timeless.

One thing to note is that some of the items on these surprise sales were made for Kate Spade Outlet, so read the descriptions carefully. There is often not much difference between retail and outlet, the leather and material are the same, but there are some differences in the detail. For example, one bag I got online during one of these sales did not have the lining sewn down inside the bag. Still a great bag, but a little weird that they would have intentionally (I called to check) done this.

    2. As usual, I looked but didn't buy. The only thing I wanted (a pair of shoes) was already sold out so, oh well. There are good "deals" but still really expensive, to me at least, except some of the jewelry. I so want that ship clutch though!

    4. I nabbed the Queen of the Nile clutch. It should be the perfect bag for summer weddings.

    5. JCrewJD - were you looking at the navy/silver wedges!'?! I had to guess as we are the same shoe size and that was the only pair I wanted too ;);) and the only size that was sold out!!

I picked up a few cute jewelry items :) love KS jewelry.

  3. I recently received the darby leather loafer in neon pink (on lucky popback) and I love them. They ARE bright -- when JC names a color neon, they really mean neon -- but so comfortable. Definitely the most comfy of any of my JC shoes, including the cece, which is also a winner. Runs TTS and stays on my narrow-heeled feet, unlike JC ballet flats.

    1. audreys - I love those shoes. Trust that they look smashing as bright as they are. I see them on a JC mgr and love them every time.

Thx for sharing my stripe Darby link :)

  4. Has anyone tried the printed Darby loafers (in navy/ivory stripe and leopard/white)? I like the Darby bead-stitch and Darby suede loafers so much that I am interested in trying the printed version. Do they fit the same and feel the same? I've found the other Darby loafers TTS.

audreys the pink ones sound great! I've given up trying to make ballet flats work for me, but the Darby loafers are just right.

    1. Gigi did a review recently on her shoe blog:

      http://www.1060pairs.com/2013/03/j-crew-darby-printed-loafers.html

Is the bead stitch one as cute IRL as they look online? May have to try them...

    2. Thanks audreys I will take a look there. The bead-stitch are cuter IRL IMO, it was love at first sight when I took them out of the box.

  5. Continuing the chambray shirt smackdown here on my blog with a review on the selvedge chambray shirt, worn with (crazy jeans) Liberty toothpick jean in June's Meadow floral, cropped matchstick jean in indigo floral and Liberty toothpick jean in Tresco floral.

    1. I love the seahorse tee on you (just when the words were past my lips (fingers) that there was nothing that interested me in the recent rollouts). I agree that I wouldn't pay full-price, given how J. Crew tees hold out, but a price cut or a promo + 30% off and hopefully its mine! So adorable.

    2. Thank you! I loved it too! The fit is spot on - skimming the body instead of adhering to it.

  7. In case you havent seen my review of the thistle print boyshirt, the caftan tunic in cove paisley and the Bambouls for JC market tote, you can see it here.

  8. Has anyone seen the t-shirt dress or boy shirt in seahorse print?

  9. I received one of the Thistle Print Popovers, the Sundrenched Peony color in my regular size. I really like it but could probably go up a size. It's a little tight in the bust, but not the shoulders which is more usual for me, and it is shorter than I like. I'm going to hang onto it until I get the blue one in the next size up and see if that one fits me better. It's a really cute shirt!

  10. Rec'd the metallic vega perforated sandals yesterday -- OH, I LOVE these! Not comfortable like the darbys (which I mentioned above) but not bad, as the heel is nice and thick. A bit narrow for my wide forefoot and a bit wide for my narrow heels, but I will make them work. Length is TTS.

    ReplyDelete

    1. audreys - I'm a little green that you have the metallic vegas. ;) My JC size popped back in apricot mist and they're a little big in the length. Very, very rare for me & JC shoes. Still deciding whether to keep them or not, as you're said they're not comfortable like a Darby loafer.

      Delete
    2. Ooooh, LUCKY! (Clearly I have been hanging around kids too much.) The apricot mist is gorgeous too, and a pretty neutral -- they would not have worked for me b/c they are patent and I've found JC patent (maybe all patent) doesn't stretch much and I always need the forefoot to stretch.... But you're right, they are a little long -- maybe that's why they are so loose in the heel. I would try to keep them -- they are so unusual looking and the mary-jane strap keeps them on your feet even though they are long -- in a flip flop snapping sort of way.

  11. Got the stone bracelet for Mother's Day in bright seaside and it is lovely. Received the magazine as well with a coupon for 20% off and free shipping and returns. Have been looking at the Etta and Miri pumps but never took the plunge. As an international customer I would have had to pay shipping as well as the return fee if the size wasn't right.
So here's what I wanted to ask you JCA's: is the sizing TTS. With the Booker boots I have a size 9. Or do the Etta and Miri pumps run larger or smaller? TIA.

    2. I have size 8 Booker boots and size 8 Miri pumps (black leather). The Booker boots are roomier, but I think they are TTS. The Miri pumps fit me well but are more snug. I tried the Miris in suede too but thought they felt tighter. So if you are a size 9 in Booker, you are probably a size 9 or 9.5 in Miri, I would guess. I have not tried the Ettas so can't compare them. Hope someone else can chime in in case my experience is not the norm. I do have wide feet and a high arch, which might explain why the Bookers felt roomier and the Miris felt snug.

    3. I took size 8 in Booker and size 8.5 in the Etta's, Mona's and Everly's and have a medium width foot. HTH

    4. The Etta's seem true to size. I wear a 6.5 and got the Etta's in 6.5 and they fit perfectly.

    5. Thanks so much, I' m going to order the 9 and the 9.5 and see which one fits best.

  13. Has anyone done a review on the Factory Multistrand Necklace vs.Retail Twisted Hammock Pearl Necklace? The picture on the factory site does not show the whole necklace, so hard for me to compare. TIA

    1. I can't comment on the retail version but I have the factory version and I love it. I bought it because Andrea on tweed and toile wears her factory version all the time and recommended it to me. You could see IRL photos on her blog. HTH

  16. I picked up the color mix bracelet this weekend. I love it and the colors but find it a touch tight. I have medium wrists, and usually find J Crew bracelets to be a perfect fit. The scale is great and I truly love it.

  17. Review of the collection contessa snakeskin bow pump in blush stone here...still debating if I have too much toe cleavage or not. Shoes are very tall but beautiful and will go with a lot of my wardrobe.

  18. My review of the scalloped underwire top was more suited for the vent thread, so refer there if interested. In short - it runs huge.

  20. I can't get around to posting pics and review of the Linen Whale Tippi, but want to mention that it's adorable and runs TTS. I got my normal small and feel it's a good fit.

  21. The linen whale tippi is adorable but I can't wear it because the print reminds me of single celled organisms seen through a microscope.
