Jenna Lyons on the Today Show {about the inauguration}

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Jessy (in this post), as well as maryeb, who let us know about the following news.

J.Crew's Jenna Lyons was spotted on the Today Show discussing the appearance of J.Crew at the Presidential Inauguration yesterday. Jump to minute 4:35 to see her interview. She talks about how J.Crew did not even know their items were selected until they saw it on t.v., with the rest of the country. There are also close ups of the J.Crew items.

As for Jenna Lyons, she did a great job despite a sore throat. Also, I can't tell if I love or hate her outfit. She pulls the look off very well, so it makes me like it. But I know I could never rock that outfit, so I am wondering...

What are your thoughts on the J.Crew pieces? Do you own any of them? What are your thoughts on the Jenna Lyon's outfit?

  2. I loved Jenna and Jason Wu, so honest and smiley. They seem like really normal people enjoying a special moment. I am so happy for both of them. After reading the article in NY Times about her, I respect her even more. Her outfit, well, of all the lovely clothes J Crew offers I did not get it but again respect her choice.

  3. I loved this interview except when she talked about wanting to create clothes for average people, not just people with a big pocket book. I mean, yes, the clothes are attainable, but they are still expensive and are trending towards being even more expensive. I think you have to have a pretty darn big pocketbook to be able to afford a majority J.Crew wardrobe, unfortunately.

    1. Yes. The $400+ pants are not affordable for most people that she is wearing! Plus, on the general side JCrew's prices are out of range full price for most people. The store super sale prices are very good but that is only if you are near one!!!

  4. I really enjoyed watching the interview. I definitely could not pull off that outfit. The stripes on the sleeves of her top were just too much for me, but I loved the detail on side of the pants.

  5. I wanted to see IRL photos of the pants that she's wearing from the Spring 2013 line. Thanks Janna. She does seem nice though.

  6. did not like jenna's outfit one bit... i actually think i prefer it when she doesn't try as hard (though in reality i'm sure she always tries hard, so i guess i prefer it when she doesn't LOOK like she has tried hard)... gah.

  7. Her outfit was cute, but not for the Today Show. I would have liked it better if she had a blazer, instead of a jean jacket.

    1. Yes. I agree. A blazer would have been better with the pants and more appropriate for the show.

    1. I know, right?? I would love to see some of the catalogs without Jenna's picks too...I'm glad that J Crew is receiving positive attention but she almost seems to becoming a caricature rather than an icon

  9. Love, love, love Jenna's look from the waist up...those pants could be amazing but didn't get to have their moment. Obama family looked wonderful in their cool tones.

  12. Love Jenna! consider the alternatives! She's so eager to please and self-effacing (not in a groveling way) and genuine. Her outfit was fine. I enjoyed hearing her reaction.

  13. I've read so many stories about Jenna and how humble and down to earth she is, so I agree with you fidele. She seems like an awesome person to have as a friend.
The pants that Jenna is wearing is actually one of my favorite from the spring '13 runway.
I love her outfit. Its so like her to pair pieces like that, it works on her because she is tall. If I wear that ensemble, I'd probably look dorky because I am petite.
I like what Michelle is wearing. She's got great style. And her daughters looked adorable.

    1. Darn, the pants that Jenna wore is a collection piece and sells for $445. :-O Expensive...for the unemployed FT college student.

  15. I liked Jenna a lot. She comes across as a very humble person in almost all her interviews.

  16. I don't get why they're retiring the color of Malia's Lady Day Coat "out of respect for the first family". I like Jenna but that's ridiculous!

    1. The way I took it was that they are not going to go and do reruns of those items just to make money due to the 'Obama effect'. by that I mean increased demand as a result of the Obama ladies wearing those items and they don't want to use that. which I think is a classy move, many companies reissue things that Kate Middleton has worn just because people want what she's worn. I'm liking Jenna more the more I hear her talk actually :)
