Sneak Peek at Upcoming J.Crew Catalog

A big "thanks!" to KnitYarns (in this post) who shared the following:
... I just popped into my local B&M (Garden State)the JC concept shop, and they were merchandising all of the new fall goodies...

There were beautiful spectator with chains Chanel type ballet flats- no price, but the SA thought about $200-eek. They came in Camellia pink and black, and saddle and cream. There was a Jules type shift in a vibrant green, a saddle and cream striped (OMG)cashmere mockneck ($228), a 2 tone cobalt and lighter blue bubble necklace, and lovely glass stone cobalt and deep green jewelry. There was a fabulous ecru lace embroidered bracelet sleeve top- with a little stretch- very elegant- $98.
Chanel tweed-esque capris in a violet with black and white. One of the loveliest most inspiring collections they have had for a while.

...I snagged a catalog, and will try to post some images. (My primary blog is geared towards knitters- so feel free to stop by if you are interested, but I also have a fledgling fashion blog (www.ontrendorchids.blogspot.com), and I will try to put the pictures there. They are so awesome, I would love to share!

There are more pictures over at her "New J Crew" post that you should check out.

Also, "thanks!" to Nicole, who shared the following response she received from a J.Crew rep about the Brompton Hobo:
"I’m very sorry, but the Collection Brompton Hobo (item 29063) will not be offered in an Espresso brown color this fall. It will return in the Henna, True Black and Rainforest Green colors. A new color will be introduced - Blue Sea (dark blue color). ..."
Lastly, according to many of you, including cashmereandchai (in this post), rynetta PhD (in this post), as well as Nicole, new arrivals are expecting to be available this Thursday, July 19th. Can't wait!

What are your thoughts on the latest arrivals from J.Crew? Are you excited about the upcoming collection? Are you ready for Fall?

  2. Ahh the collection shirt is poly!! I think I am more excited to see Marissa's designs, as she's reported to be using silk, etc. Not that I could afford it, but still!

  4. OMG OMG OMG...I'm totally excited now. I cannot stand it, I wish the Utah store was a concept store :(...have to wait but so excited for the catalog (even though it's 105+ degrees) because I love taking years ago items and mixing with new things! Inspiration galore.
    Thank you!

  5. Hi- I just added 3 more pictures, and I have to stop before I feel compelled to show the whole catalog! AJC is going for a preview, and I can confirm that the in store items are even prettier than what is in the catalog, so I am certain she will have wonderful things to share. (BTW, in case there are knitting JCAs out there, my blog is www.knityarns.blogspot.com)

  6. Thanks for sharing the pictures! I like the blouse and one pencil skirt. I am kind of sad that there isn't a deep purple skirt this year (so far). There is going to be a hacking jacket in the same light purple material as the pictured skirt - I bought it at the sample sale.
Can't wait to see the entire catalogue.

  8. I got the new catalog as well thanks to one of my lovely SA's at my b&m. There's really beautiful/interesting jewelry including an Elephant bracelet! Lots to look at. I've only had one pass through, so need to sit down and go through again!

  9. My store had new scarves out yesterday, and one was in the turquoise-y floral print; I think it's gorgeous! Looks like there will be a pencil skirt in it, too. These catalog pages are gorgeous, but it's hard to imagine Fall clothes in this heat...

  10. I want the bag in that top photo!

Was told the new stock will hit the store on July 26.

  12. I'll trade temporary shelter from this studio tempest and/or hairbrush(es) for the bag in the first picture and the spectator flats.

  13. It seems like it will be jewel tones this fall, love! I wonder when the catalog will be available in regular stores.

  14. Yay and thank you for the preview! What I've been waiting for and so far the colors and prints appear to be what I love about JC, fall in particular. Worth the wait, and now there is no way I will fall prey to FS ...

  15. As always, J.Crew's collection is better during the fall/winter season. Can't wait to see the clothes...

  16. YAY!!! Thanks so much for the sneak peek!! This makes it soo much easier to sit out this promo and FS to save my pennies.

    1. You are so right, Marlene. Having a preview of what's to come for Fall makes skipping the sale section so much easier.

    2. I'll have to make a trip to pick up a catalog and start marking my wish list items! That will definitely help pass the time and the reduce the temptation.

    3. Yes, I was ready to order a new suit but may wait....

  17. I am so happy to see a fall of jewel tones, speaking as a very pale red head!

I found my August 2010 catalogue the other night (AKA, the fatigues/Sequin catalogue) and while i am sure it was divine on some of you, I couldn't really pull those colours off!

I am anxious to see the snakeskin and some shoes!

    1. WMM, yes the jewel tones are delicious!!! And I'm sure as a red head all those emerald greens will look great on you!

  18. The fall line snake skin print pencil skirt is featured in Bazarr's August issue page 183. The fabric actually looks textured like snakeskin....wonder what it is? It's not my cup of tea, but I'd like to see it in person. The colors are awesome!

    1. Thanks stray cat! Will take a look - maybe a cotton jacquard?

    2. I was told by friend it's a real snake skin and priced at $3500 or so.

      Delete
    3. There is a snakeskin print wool and silk skirt in the catalog which retails for $158- much more reasonable than $3500, so perhaps it is not the same ne that is in Bazaar.

  21. Loving the new botanical yellow/turquoise Asian inspired print of the pencil skirt - so cute that it also comes in iPhone case and scarf format (which are in stores right now)! It is SO pretty!

  22. Thanks for the preview! Looks like there will be a lot of pretty things this time around. The polka-dot blouse and blazer in the first photo are on my list of things to try so far. I'm looking forward to seeing all the other new arrivals and catalog online this Thursday. My store will be getting their new arrivals in the following week and have an event scheduled for the rollout.

  24. Thank you for the preview!! I am so excited to see what the new arrivals will be! Even though I can't imagine wearing them in this insane heat they look beautiful. This has also stopped me from being tempted by FS, I really don't need more summer clothes and this is a good reminder that the fall line should have lots of temptations.

  25. I think me and Pat must have crossed paths at the GSP Concept Store. Pat, we should go together next time!
Great pictures from the catalog. I just came back from the store and I loaded bunch of pictures HERE . I tried many items on and will have reviews coming up soon. I am exhausted from the heat and all those trying ons. Lot's to love.

    1. Thank you for the pictures! I can't wait to get my hands on the floral white/black pencil skirt. The clothes you grabbed to try on in the dressing room looks cool-from the snakeskin skirt, houndstooth top, and the chevron stripe (sequin ?) top.
      :)

  26. @ajc- Thank you so much for posting those wonderful photos! I too am wondering why I spent so much on summer items, I should have thought ahead to fall. :) Can't wait to see your reviews!

  27. I'm also interested in Edie's older brother (the bag from the first photo). So excited about the fall arrivals!

  28. I just took a look at the preview on the site Unknown posted the link for. First impression...I don't think my wallet will suffer much. I see only a couple of things I might be interested in.....but I'm sure this isn't all that's coming out. I'm just not sure who the target customer is when I look at these first items. Some of it borders on costume (IMO). I'm hoping for some nice normal wool pencil skirts and pretty Tippi sweaters.

  29. ouh oh....Did someone say a pencil skirt in yellow and turqouise Asian print? Now we're talkin'! I hope my stores have some of the new things....I'm dying to see them!

  30. UGH. A skirt made from real snake skin. The thought of that makes my skin crawl.

  31. Everyone I just found out new arrivals won't be in stores till NEXT Thursday - the 26th. Called two NYC stores-- soho and 5th avenue.
Sad-- was really looking forward to seeing all the pre fall arrivals.
The person over the phone corrected me when I said they were fall arrivals (they are pre fall arrivals)!

  34. I just picked up a a copy from my store- posted my personal faves here. Interestingly enough Jenna's feature is back- remember we had discussion about it not so long ago? My favorite is a zig zag sequin top- can't wait to get my hands on it- it's surprisingly very reasonably priced ($138).

    1. Thanks for posting Slastena...I love that zig zag top and floral print skirt, too. I have had my eye on that since I saw it on J.Crew's runway back in February. Now which to get, the skirt, the pant, or the top..
I love the Everly pumps. The jewels are lovely, as always.
