Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SUMMER sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. The Vancouver store has a 'pool party,' I was told. I might crash it. :)

Sounds fancy, but they only measure you so that you can order swimwear in the correct size, supposedly.

  2. I had to run to Neiman Marcus to pick up a dress yesterday, so I stopped by J.Crew while I was there. They are still running the 40% off promotion, and will likely continue to do so until next week, when all the unsold sale merchandise gets shipped back to the warehouse. My store will be getting the new arrivals on the 25th, with their official new arrivals event happening on the 26th.

For those of you who don't know already, I scanned the women's section of the catalog yesterday afternoon/evening and posted it on my blog here. I will scan the men's section and add it later this morning.

    1. Thanks for scanning! And wow! Boring catalogue:(. Anyone else think that models clothes are a tad too small for them? The toothpick cords and silk pencil skirts look like they're squeezed into them. Also - a bit immature, these headphones and iPod/iPhone gals. I found it queer.

    2. Pathos: I agree that the catalog is boring. I mentioned yesterday after picking it up that while I do like several of the new items (which I posted about on my blog yesterday, I do not care for most of the styling in it at all. There are a couple of outfits that I think look nice, such as the one with the Zigzag tee and Photo Floral skirt, but the other combinations really leave a lot to be desired, as does the catalog in general. I really miss the catalogs from several years ago, and wish J.Crew would consider making them like that again.

    3. I found this August catalog to be uninspiring too. there were only several items I liked. I am a bit disappointed that the photo black/white print skirt, pant, and top is well above $595. each...can't afford it, even if it went on sale.. was obsessing over it since February. Oh well..

I think JCrew releases their destination catalog for the month of September. Will be looking forward to that...

      Delete
    4. I agree. I think it's the styling of the clothes. Even a great Or cute outfit shot against a blank backdrop can be interesting. I guess I don't like the styling. I also don't like the tailoring in general and find the pants to be too skinny or tapered and the skirts too narrow and too long so they give a sausage effect in a lot of the shots.

      Delete
    5. I think that the catalog is a little depressing. The colors are subdued and the models don't look happy to be wearing the clothes.

  3. Ruelala (sample site sale) is offering two $50 gift cards and free shipping for a whole year, for the cost of $100. The gift cards can be chosen from J.Crew, Madewell, Theory, Tory Burch, among others.

You're just getting your money back in the form of gift cards, but for someone like me who shops there quite often the free shipping is a great bonus.

    1. Lucy - How did you find out what brands were gift card choices? I had seen the Rue 365 offer last week but didn't go for it since I wondered if they were a bust for options...

    2. I only received the offer yesterday, and the choices in the email were J.Crew, Madewell, Tory Burch and Theory. If you click through to the site, they also offer Hudson and Stuart Weitzman among the choices I believe. On the offer page there should be a selection of gift cards to choose from. I saw J.Crew/Madewell and was sold...I knew I would have no trouble spending those cards.
      The offer expires 7/21.

    5. Considering that lately I've had Rue La La deliveries about 2x a week, I have no idea why I didn't get this e-mail? I checked on the website and didn't even see where I could sign up for the Rue 365, just a description of it on "At your service." Am I missing something?

    8. Maybe they sent it selectively to customers who haven't shopped as much recently. But since they have the Rue 365 description up for everyone to see, I think they'll eventually extend the offer to everyone. You can contact them about getting in the program.

Pretty addicted, sent you the email

  5. OT but to those of you who liked the new J Crew polka dot dress, Lands End Canvas has a similar version for $28 plus an add'l 30% off (reg $130). I know several JCAs have reviewed it and liked it. I also own it and love it.

  6. I was wondering if the 40% off was still happening in stores... I have to return my safari cat skirt with the damaged hook & eye so I will certainly be trolling the sale section(s) looking for deals. :D

My Marrakech bikini shipped yesterday so I'm really looking forward to receiving it, fingers crossed that it fits!

Also, I wanted to let my size M-L / 8-10-12 sisters know that I've started adding a few more items to my eBay auctions daily. I have a LOT of items to sell -- lots of shorts, swimsuits, tops, skirts, dresses, you name it ... some NWT / NWOT / EUC ... some from ye olde J Crew of yore, some in between -- please pop in to see if there might be a treasure or two for you. :)

  7. Thank you FFM for scanning the catalog! I wasn't excited by the styling either. I don't see enough mixture of print and colors for me. It's fall, but it still seems pretty sedate for J. Crew. I've already mentioned how unnerving all that messy hair is. It's propably a good thing I'm not all crazy for the whole rollout. I've still got summer sale packages coming!

    1. Was there on Tuesday - at that point the 50% off final sale was still going. Still had lots of variety (pencil skirts, dresses, blouses, shorts etc), though sizes were hit-and-miss for the more popular items. Probably still worth a visit, especially if you take smaller sizes.

  10. I will be going but only to make a few returns. I placed two orders yesterday, and after seeing the Factory Dorset Purse today on the website, I wish I would've waited until this morning to place that second order. The Dorset Purse looks to be the Wixon Purse but with a different name. Either way, I was wishing for it in black and at $88, I think I have to have it. Wish I didn't have to pay the shipping.

-Lila Patent Platform Wedges in neon peach $20 was $168
-Cece Suede Ballet Flats in bright flame $35 was $128
-Weatherby Rain Boot in black $15 was $79.99
-Collection Lula Snakeskin Flat in fresh strawberry $41 was $198
-New Balance perforated pro sneakers for bf $20 was $75
-Ribbon Strip Boatneck tee $15 was $49.50
-No.2 Pencil Skirt in Caribbean Tweed in grass green $25 was $128

Received a phone message last night stating one of my items was no longer in stock and then got the "news about your order" email this morning but the remainder of the order STILL has not shipped. I'm really not concerned about the one item being unavailable as it was a cr*pshoot because final sale & never tried this style on. I'm seriously unhappy about the rest of the order not shipping out. I'd love it if a shirtdress was made in the wonderful paisleys, polka dots, foulards and all the other great patterns used for capris, skirts and shirts. Why can't we have shirtdresses in gorgeous fabrics? I'd buy every one they made. Well....as long as they got the pattern of the dress right of course. 41. Popped into the Arundel Mills Crewlet today because I was hoping they'd have the petal collar cami in Casablanca blue. They didn't, BUT they had a lot of other fall rollout with 30-40% off and the sale section was still an additional 40% off. They said the rollout would be complete by next week. Similar color and prints to retail. I bought a silk dress that was not on the website but had the same print as the printed cotton sateen mini (black with a white pattern) that was marked $98, was 40% off and with the educator discount came to right around $50. Decent prices all around. Lots left in the sale section.

Additionally, many of the new arrivals are already in store. It looks like they are rolling out the polka dots slowly, but the anchors are everywhere!

  45. Rose....I hear you on the dresses that don't fit long waisted gals. I have that problem and I'm 5'9". Most of the sheath dresses are just too short for me. I love the sheath style but need it to at least hit around my knee (sounds like J. Crew speak). I think they could make a smashing 50's style shirtdress with a fitted bodice, short sleeve or sleeveless and full skirt. I would have bought this dress in the navy/cream pop art polka dot fabric, seersucker, madras, all the paisleys they are so good at, the foulard prints. I just love a nice pretty classic frock. Add a cute shoe and bag, nice jools and you're out the door.

  46. I was at the Mall of America store earlier today and they had four the white eyelet Lucille dresses in the sale section -- all size 6. Marked at $89.99 and they still had the 40% off going. Hope that helps someone!

    1. Stores must be shipping stock back to warehouse. I always feel that this should coincide with greater markdowns like its the left over merch.

  55. The Factory site is finally carrying sizes 00, 24/25! If anyone visits the Factory store, could you please share any info on the quality and fit of the professor blazer? Thanks!

Also, looking for the Minnies that are on sale in a size 00. If anyone finds a pair please email phillyroll3@gmail.com

    1. The professor blazer is really cute! It's on the thin side, and it is a blend. Shopwithm posted that the other day, but I don't remember exactly what it was and I didn't look at the tag today. But I normally have issues with JC jackets being tight in the shoulders, then big everywhere else if I size to accommodate. The professor was nicely fitted everywhere in the size I take for shoulders, which is 6. I'm almost always a small or 4/6 in tops. This blazer will be a must purchase for me now since its a lovely camel color and the fit was positively spot on for me. HTH!

    2. Just looked at the description online. It's the "hint of stretch" that clinched it for me. And it's a schoolboy fit, even has a schoolboy tag in it. Better price online right now than in store.

  56. My B&M had one lone white Jackie (XL) in the sale section - $19.99-40%. 5184565902

  57. As cranky as the new catalog made me it didn't keep me from stopping by the B&M today. My store had the field jacket, the new liberty print shirts and the chevron black/cream sequin top from the new rollout. I LOVE the field jacket! It's wide enough in the shoulder and armsto wear a sweater, but it has a double side snap at the waist to bring in the body. I got Medium and just snapped it smaller in the waist to give it a more fit. I got navy. Love! And I tried to not love the Liberty print in the Indian paisley, but it's so pretty. I tried it on with the no.2 in golden burgandy. What a cute outfit! So brought home the field jacket, the Liberty shirt and the golden burgandy skirt. Ok...about the chevron sequin top. I didn't try it on. It does not have a zipper at the neck and the neck is a close cut...not scooped. I had it over my head then I realized I would have to literally scrape it over my face to get it on. I had on makeup and lipstick of course. I told the SA why I didn't try it on and she expressed the same concern. I told her those tops are going to get ruined with makeup all over the neck edging, along with snags and missing sequins by the time everyone struggles into them. If you are interested in the top, I'd suggest ordering online.

  59. I stopped by Friday but not much to see. Extra 40% still on but everything left is either the wrong size or I have it already. I did buy the linen tippi in deep cinnamon since it will be a good color going into fall. Very few new arrivals to look at yet.

  60. Does anyone know of a store that has the white and blue dress with the anchor at the bottom in size small or extra small ?!

  64. Nothing new added to my sale section, so I'm just looking forward to checking out new arrivals on Thursday.

OT, but I posted pics of four different sale shoes -- nutmeg snakeskin Lulas, bronze Valentinas, grey suede Martinas and the Jayne t-strap ballet flats here. Love them all!

  65. Has anyone checked out the new handbag options at their local Crewlet? I'm looking at the Dorset Bag online, and although the leather looks decent (not super nice or anything), I'm wondering how it looks and feels in real life.

  66. Does anyone know if the 40% in-store ends today, Sun?

  67. Both the Westport, CT and New Canaan, CT stores still had 40% off signage in their miniscule sale sections. Looks like both stores shipped a majority of their items back to the warehouse....

    ReplyDelete
  68. Hi Gigi - my B&M said that they think the 40% will go on a few days into this week, but they're never totally sure 'cause they could get a notice from corporate to end it at any time. Their fall stock is going to be on the floor on Wednesday, so they'll probably have to send any remaining sale stuff back then. Short answer: I don't know. :)

    2. Wonder if that means lots of online popbacks on things I've been stalking in a week or so? As much as I need to stop buying, there are a few special items on my wish list if there is another online promo. It seems like my size only popsback when the promo is over.

  71. The store on Madison @ 45 had a few of he pompom jacquard cafe capris if anyone is looking for those (sorry didn't check price or sizes). Nothing else caught my eyes in the sale section. They had a new color of the keyhole jacquard blouse that looked more spring-y than fall-ish to me (sort of a strawberry red) and it looks like they re-issued the navy (or at least they had a lot of them).

  72. I went to the store in Southlake, TX, today and 40% off was still going on. Had lots of the double serge cotton pencil skirts in burgandy (only sizes 2 and up), natural, and black. Couple of the papaya attache dresses in sizes 0 and 12. Tons of pants/jeans and perfect tees in all colors, linen cardis, colored shorts, and the pompom tanks. One anchors aweigh blouse in 00 that I had to pass on. :(

  74. I hit the B&M this weekend, still had 40% off. Not much there, but I did get the golden burgandy no.2 which I had sort of ignored because I wasn't in the fall mood yet. I tried it on with the Liberty print shirt in Indian red and it looks great together. I got the Liberty shirt and the new field jacket in navy. Today Mr. Brown Shorts brought both colors of the Frog Clasp bracelet. Oddly the yellow one fits tighter than the green one. I like the green better anyway and the yellow will go back. Also got the Raj Paisley skirt in my regular size. I think I need to drop a couple of pounds. It seems tight....maybe it will stretch out a bit with wearing. My Light Blade Audra sandals look really nice with it. As do the Cerise ones. Tomorrow I get the Edie Attache' in Oasis green and the Retro Jade Tippi. I'll let you all know what I think of them.
