"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Why is my inbox full of great birthday gifts and promos as well as my snail mail box from many companies and NOTHING ever from J.Crew? esp. being a cardholder????

  2. JUST got a "Wish We Had Enough" email for a No. 2 double serge wool pencil skirt in Vibrant Flame that I ordered in DECEMBER 2011! Really? I did not even remember ordering this, which probably speaks volumes about my shopping habits...

  3. The HUGE discrepancy between store prices and online prices is VERY aggravating! I am buying much less in protest!

  4. JCrew prices on their International shopping site are quite a bit higher than the US prices. Add on taxes & duty to that.... and I'm thinking I won't be able to buy much from JCrew after all!!

  5. I've been a customer of JCrew for over 15 years and I've found myself purchasing a whole lot less in the last several years. For the items I do purchase, I'm returning a lot more. It seems that their focus has changed from classic looks that could stand the test of time to cheaper fabrics with a growing reliance on outside brand names. If you don't believe me, feel free to check out the boring grey "PLAY" cardigan priced at 400.00. Wish they would bring the value back into their styles.

  6. I've recently closed my JCrew account. As a result of their "IT upgrade", I didn't receive e-statements for the JCrew card for two billing cycles. I used to buy a lot more from JCrew, but for the last few years I have only been buying clothes for my daughter from the Crewcuts line, and very sporadically. Due to this and to the fact that I pay off my card every billing cycle, I was totally unsuspecting of my overdue balance, and I didn't think about checking my balance on the JCrew website. To make the story short, a few days ago I got a phone call from the JCrew collection department. I was shocked, as I have stellar credit. I explained the situation to them, and they REFUSED to credit the late fees (2) back. I was treated like a thug, the JCrew card rep was rude and uncaring. So I paid off my balance over the phone and closed my account. After being a loyal customer for many, many years, I feel I deserve better. So moving forward, my daughter will be wearing Ralph Lauren kids. Not a bad change indeed, given the consistent declining quality and increasing prices of JCrew's clothing in general.
