J.Crew Final Sale {nice update}

J.Crew has a nice update to their Final Sale section online (click here) this morning. Lots of merchandise for everyone (1200+ for Women and 400+ for Men). Moreover, it looks like several new pieces made it to sale along with some new price reductions. Yey!

Even though MUSTHAVE ended earlier this week, it sounds like brick & mortar (B&M) stores are still running an additional 30% off their Final Sale. Yey for that too! :)

Did you check out the Final Sale section today? Were you able to snag any amazing deals? If so, please share! :)

  1. So far I've been sticking to my resolution not to buy anything final sale that I haven't already tried on. The potential for it to be money thrown in the trash is just too big.

    1. Agreed. I wish they'd modify their "final sale" to at the very least allow for size exchanges. I think they would get rid of so much more of their stock that way. It's just too risky unless I've tried it on before. I'm eyeing the Lucille dress but won't pull the trigger.

    2. SharynMO - I have some Lucille dresses - the purple eyelet, the black & green (solid colors)...I purchased the Yellow lace one because I thought it was gorgeous. Unfortunately it didn't fit like the others. :( UGH!!!!

    3. Ugh, I wish I had stuck to my own resolution not to buy final sale stuff without trying on. The linen sweatshirt I bought does NOT look good on me, and the sunglasses are fine but not worth the money I spent. Silly sales goggles.

  2. ACK! Make it stop! Looks like everyone returned their stuff from the last round and it's all back. Like bad pennies. I have a question.....where does all the unsold stuff go? Does the Crew have discount outlet stores where they sell the leftovers? Or are there little kids in third world countries sporting sequin stripe tees and "Italian Calf hair" bags? Just curious.....I've never seen a J. Crew garment at TJ Maxx or Marshalls. Another question: Are Italian cows more fashionable than other cows?

    1. In February 2009 J.Crew was "Spotted at TJ Maxx". Search the JCA blog for Maxx and you'll see the posts and comments. It was a bonanza for some.

I think it goes to the clearance center and much of it ends up for resale on ebay. There is also a store in California that offers discounted NWT items from seasons past. Can't remember the name of it but likely someone else knows.

    2. I was wondering that too, thanks xoxo.

    3. Hope it lands in their clearance center or warehouse or donated and not destroyed to maintain their "brand integrity" as some retailers do....Does anyone know if Walmart or Anthropologie still practice this? I know H&M did but stopped after an outcry from the public and a letter to the company.

  3. I have some things in the cart, but... Madewell is much more tempting with their free shipping on any order and lots of additions to sale today!

    1. I agree! For the first time I have actually purchased more from Madewell than from JC this summer.

  4. My closet has reached critical mass! No more new items may enter until I do an edit and a small purge. I already have far more than I can use, adding to this would be simply prove how I hate having any money in my wallet.

    2. I'm in the same position as jcrew guy in Canada. My closet is perpetually overstuffed.

    3. Also love the last line, jcrew guy. May have to steal it to print and attach to my computer screen as a rhetorical question to curb Crewlade purchases--'Do you hate having money in your wallet?' Love!

    4. The really sad thing is I keep checking the *#@* sale section; I think I'm addicted!

    5. Haha!! Jcrew guy, I am with you - my closet is bursting and I need to purge! And I can't stop looking at the sale section!!

  5. Love your bad penny analogy, StrayCat! The way I look at it is this - those old items (or 'extreme popbacks') were probably last sold when Final Sale was going on. So why are they back? I'm guessing defects...so please be careful, JCAs!

I think the CA store is Jeremy's? There was also a store in Duck, NC (Barr-ee Station Catalogue Outlet) that had a ton of JC merch.

    1. Yes silver_lining, the store I was thinking of in California is Jeremy's.

  6. I noticed the large update this morning, too. They also had one yesterday morning, which included some new promo-priced items and markdowns. I've updated the Women's and Men's lists here and here respectively. :)

I'm going to try to head over to the local B&M today or tomorrow to see if they have any additional markdowns, or if any of the items on my watch list made it to sale yet in stores.

  7. All the items that were "sold out" of my size during the last additional 30% off are now back in my size. I'm sure I'm not the only person who finds this irritating. I'm assuming it's just from returns. Thanks for all the answers about "where does it all go". I'd like to visit one of those stores! I"m just waiting for one item to hit sale. And then I'm done for awhile!

If I don't find anything there, I'm done. I'll be receiving my first package from the 30% off sale today. Very excited to try my items on!

  11. Garden State Plaza has SO many Ella Garden Floral Dresses($39.00 I think!) and Filigree Beach dresses( Don't recall the price) and some seahorse necklaces left. They still were advertising 30% off too.

Also how is the fit on the Pom Pom shell? TTS?

    Many thanks :)

The Pom Pom shell fits TTS to large-ish. Pic on my blog.

  14. Grabbed the Ella Dress in petal eyelet. Hope it fits like the Porcelain Paisley Ella, but at $50 it was too good to pass up even on final sale. Also got the Skinny Plaque Belt. Had the raindrop lace shirt in my cart too but someone beat me to it by about 30 seconds. Oh well!

  15. I mailed back a pair of chinos which had back pockets that were 1 inch deep and were missing beltloops. Yes, this is true. Would be interested to know if anyone else has noticed this kind of outrageous cost-cutting.

  16. Lots of temptation, but I'm staying put. :D

  17. I bought a few popbacks this morning. Mad that they weren't an extra 30% off but I was doubtful they'd make it to further sale. Seeing the shipping and tax add $18 to my order pissed me OFF.

On the upside, Ebates is offering 6% cash back. :)

I picked up the safari cat skirt (this pattern doesn't seem to be selling well; are people all leoparded out? I'm not!); a bright poppy Natasha (which I haven't seen in my size for ages), the drapey elbow-sleeve tee in the orange/green color, the colorblock stripe slash henley in the blue color (i have the other one and love it and haven't seen my size in a long time).

Apropos of nothing, I found out yesterday that a Madewell store is opening today at the Southpoint Mall in Durham and our Raleigh mall will get one in 2013. So they must be expanding...

    1. Elaine, shopathome.com is offering 10% back. I find that they generally offer a higher % than Ebates for JCrew.

I stopped by the 5th Ave b&m to pick up the wool floral scarf. It wa still FP, so I asked if they would price match online and they did, including an extra 30% off. If anyone is looking for the double strand seahorse necklace, there were about 6 of them, priced at $89.99 plus 30% off.

    2. Interesting, I have never heard of this site before. Is it reputable?

    3. Elaine, I have both of those tops - the drapey sleeve in mint/orange stripe and the colorblock henley in the blue stripe/blue cuffs. Super cute! :)

    4. Elaine, they're also opening a Madewell store at Southdale Mall in Minnesota (Edina). Super excited since there's a J Crew there I haunt weekly...or more.

    5. Elaine, yes, they are reputable, I have received several cash back checks already from them. I compare the two sites and whichever is offering the highest % back is where I place my order through. I get checks back from both Ebates and shopathome, lol.

  20. Know what I wish we could do? Have one big ol' meetup somewhere and everyone brings all their Crew that they've outgrown or got stuck with on FS and we just have a big swap. Then donate the leftovers to charity or something.

That would be so awesome. Ah, dreams.

  22. I bought the Talitha blouse in belvedere red during the last 30% off and it is a very bright, almost neon-y strawberry red. It doesn't compared to anything I have so I don't know how to explain but it looks more neon rose to me then red. It is also a bit more sheer than my other one in wreath. Bottom line, it doesn't look at all like the red on the website pic. Still, I love that blouse so much that I will take it.

  23. I must have driven by Jeremy's 50 times in SF, but didn't realize what type of merchandise they carried. Now I'll make a point of checking it out and let you all know if they carry J Crew items from prior seasons.

    1. They have tons of Urban, some Anthro and some lower end brands. I've never seen J Crew and have founds that unless they are having a super sale (extra 50%-90% off) it is really hit or miss in terms of prices. Give it a try, though more often than not, I come away empty handed.

      Delete
    2. I haven't been to Jeremy's in a few years but I did see J.Crew there at that time. It is definitely hit or miss though and I have found designer items as well. I find with a store like Jeremy's as well as consignment/vintage shops, if you go often you will get to know the merch and be able to find the new things pretty quickly. That definitely helps IMO.

      Delete
    3. There are two Jeremy's: one in Berkeley and one in San Francisco. The one in Berkeley tends to carry non-designer lines like JCrew, Anthro brands, etc. They also have an "as-is" section. The one in SF is much more high end, like big designers, and occasionally also JCrew and Anthro and similar lines too. The merchandise varies hugely from month to month......

  24. OT but wasn't there supposed to be an update of new arrivals online today? Also, I was told that usually JC ends their in-store promos on a Saturday. I don't know when the in-store 30% promo will end but just passing on what I was told.

  25. Marypopps....thank you for the link to Garance Dore's blog! Finally a fashion blog by someone close to my age and GASP older than me! If I were rich, I'd be her! I can't buy Mui Mui, Prada and Givenchy, but I can look just as stylish and fashionable thanks to lines like J. Crew. But oh how I wish I could afford Prada's gorgeous clothes!

  26. I picked up the "Talitha" blouse recently and I believe it is still in the final sale in a few remaining colors and sizes (at least, in Seattle). I bought it in the color "wreath" and it is GORGEOUS! Check it out on my blog!http://www.harpersshadow.com/2012/06/jcrew-talitha-blouse.html

  27. I'm so tired I didn't even go into the B&M today even though I was in the mall. I stopped by Anthropologie to pick up the Farmer's Egg Crate dishes which I thought would be a cute storage from small earrings and rings. Of course it was a similiar sitch to all my shopping lately....the original price stickers of $14.00 were still on but with an additional sticker in red saying $14.95. I already had seen them online on sale for $7.95. Brother. So I ask a young SA gal that proceeded to look me up and down like I was naked sans the raccoon on my head then she yells over to the manager "SOMEONE marked these all wrong". Then the manager gives me a crummy look. "Honest check your website!" ARG! It's enough to make me stop shopping. Well...not quite, but it's exhausting.

  28. Just got back from my B&M... I'll be working there the whole weekend so nice to check out what we've moved around. Bought the Farmer's Market Tote in blue for my mom and the Boy Shirt in plaid for me... think the shirt will look super cute with pearls and heck, it was on sale and the colors are gorgeous! So what if I have to channel my inner lumberjack when I wear it... ;)

In other news, my store has a few NEW things in - but this is strange. We just got the crinkle city mini in navy/red/kiwi, but it is already on sale on the website! What gives? I think it's adorable but that is a big price difference. Also spotted the field jacket in navy and a new lace shell type of top (cute). Also some new tanks with little flower decals. The camp popovers in stripe (navy/pink/mint) are NOT marked down in my store. Neither are the drapey sleeve tees in the solid colors, even though both are on the website. Hmmm...

Also - my store has the new jewels! The kelly green bubble necklace was on display, as was the pearl/flower necklace and matching bracelet and a few other cute things. :)

  34. I am actually very happy with my J Crew final sales. I tallied up everything I bought and was pleasantly surprised at my deals!

    1) Mona patent pumps in warm bisque, original price is $218 and I paid $100.8
    2) Mona pumps in red, original price is $198 and I paid $83.99
    3) Mona pumps in navy print, original price of $248 and I paid $71.99
    4) Olympia suede sandals, original price $198 and I paid $59.99
    5) Jeans in classic rinse, original price at $115 and I paid $46.8
    6) Collection color block silk skirt, original price at $350 and I paid $77.99

I am pretty familiar with my sizes in Mona pumps and was comfortable to take the plunge. While I am happy with my discount, it makes me wonder how much markup there is in retail. I mean, I am paying around 33% of full price in this sales. From now on, I am only buying on sales.

    1. Oh! I also like to add more sales that I find, but it is from Kate Spade.

      1) Gold Coast Elizabeth handbag in quilted leather, original price is $398 and I paid $169
      2) Quinn tote in bone color, original price is $398 and I paid $135.15
      3) Flicker Scout in white patent leather, original price at $368 and I paid $124.95.

They offer 15% off when you sign up on their mailing list. Again, I am getting these sale items on average of 37% of full retail price. I realize I got a little carried away on clearance sales, but from now on, I am only shopping during end of season sales.
