Happy 4th of July! {celebrating with J.Crew?}

Have a happy 4th of July everyone!

Many of us will be attending various outdoor parties, fireworks, and traveling to visit family & friends throughout the weekend. As per usual with the {celebrating with J.Crew?} posts, it would be fun to hear what everyone plans on wearing. So for this post, what we are planning to wear on Independence Day? :)

As for me, I am excited about wearing the Maritime Anchor Dress (item 83375; $98.00). I initially found this dress to not work for my shape (refer here). After the price reduction, and additional 30% off, I thought I would give the dress one last try. I ended up going down a size and it looked great.

I plan on wearing the dress with a pair of Cece Ballet Flats in bright red and a belt to cinch the dress at the waist. The outfit is finished with the beautiful Bubble Necklace in White. (This necklace is a bit pricey, but totally worth every penny! It is such a beautiful statement piece, sure to get you compliments anywhere you go.)

What are you planning to wear this 4th of July? Are you planning to go "head to toe" J.Crew or parts J.Crew?

  1. The muted red-white-and-blue raj paisley maxidress is perfect for this very hot July 4 on the east coast! I was late to the party on this one, having just purchased it last week -- I'd looked at it for WEEKS in the stores, with all the blog-love it's gotten and could not figure out why. I finally tried it on last week and of course, understood at once. It is a perfectly easy dress and one of the best things about it is the adjustable straps -- there are three button holes on each strap, so they can be adjusted in length and can also be worn straight or crossed in the back. Love!

  2. I'm wearing the stripe button-front dress. I didn't bring any red, though, so my yellow belt & nude shoes will have to do.

You're gonna look cute, Alexis :)

  5. Happy 4th of July everyone! :)

Alexis, your outfit is super cute! I haven't decided yet what I'll be wearing, but it will more than likely either be this outfit or this one.

  6. I wish the stripe button front dress would looked good on me but no dice. I really loved on the hanger. I'll be sporting the navy polka dot crosstown tee from the crewlet, red skinny belt, and either a denim pencil or white bermudas - depending on how rambunctious DD is. She's 20 months today!

  7. I'll be sporting the stripe Villa dress with the red Cecelia buckle sandals for the parade this morning, then changing for a party to the Stripe Derby Dress. (Will need the change after being outside in near 100 degree heat!) Oh, and carrying the Tillary tote of course!

  8. I was really hoping my Raj paisley maxi dress would have arrived before today, but unfortunately it didn't. So, I guess I'll wear the blue and red stripe Amie maxi dress. I have a cute blue anchor necklace from the factory store and the blue small brulee bracelet.

  10. Happy 4th of July to all!!!Love your outfit, Alexis- was tempted to follow your footsteps and wear Maritime too, but it's too hot. I ended up with Anthro Remolino lace pullover (white) and embroidered shorts (blue), added a JCrew rope belt (red)- and voila- I have all of my colors. Oh, I am wearing my striped Soludos ( they look like a flag, lol). I was not even lazy and posted some pics- here .

I am wearing it with red havianas and a necklace my four year old nephew made me out of red buttons. Happy 4th!

  12. Too funny! I wore my maritime anchor dress last night to our country club fireworks party. I rolled up the sleeves to the elbow to make it a little cooler. I added a necklace of my daughters actually from Gymboree that was silver with a navy anchor and red hearts and silver flip flops since I had no red ones. Got lots of compliments and was very comfortable. I too sized down from my s to xs and liked the fit much better.

  16. I wore my anchors aweigh blouse and my new jbrand jean shorts out earlier while doing some shopping. Loved this outfit! But I'm about to head to a bbq, and the blouse is too hot to wear outside here. Thinking of wearing the vintage cotton bandana tee in the navy.

But I will say...I just adore the anchors aweigh blouse after wearing it today...and yesterday (to work). Yep...I wore it two days in a row...ha.

  19. What is the white sequined linen bomber jacket that's showing up on a lot of blogs (Atlantic-Pacific, Maine to Montreal)? Is it new? It's on net-a-porter but I can't find it on J.Crew. Would love an item number so I could track it down, assuming it's something recent. Thanks!

  21. Wish it weren't so hot here so I could wear my maritime too, but ended up with the beaded lighthouse skirt (thanks for the reminder, original Genny) and a navy tank with the gold Audras - my new favorite sandals - and some sparkly jewelry. Happy Independence Day, JCAs!

  22. Cute! I wore my maritime dress to an outdoor concert a couple weeks ago and it was perfect but it's blazing hot in Chicago so I got my hair braided on the 3rd at a new braid bar and wound up wearing a strapless white gauze Anthropologie dress with blue/white striped Soludos for J.Crew espadrilles that I picked up on sale ($19.99, plus an additional 30% off at my local b&m), and topped it off with my Selima Sunglasses that are a citrus green color. We decided it was too hot to do anything but drink vodka lemonades and watch movies in air conditioning...

  23. I wore red/white/blue/navy plaid shorts from Ralph Lauren with the Crew red/white striped sailor boatneck tee #82591 and my red patent Micheal Kors ballets and carried my navy Ralph Lauren tote. I had an arm load of bracelets, all gold and red/white/blue with my Michael Kors watch with the blue face. I asked my husband how come he wasn't wearing holiday colors and he said I was wearing enough for both of us! We went out and did some errands and the only other people I saw in red/white/blue were children! Hee!
