Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SPRING sale, or to see some new SUMMER arrivals {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Very likely, since I haven't checked out the new JC store digs in Vancouver yet. Can't wait! Too bad my Rewards card hasn't made it yet.

  7. Can anyone tell me if the jersey maxiskirt in stripe (blue) is on sale in stores? I feel like it was on FS for awhile online but then went back to full price when FS ended...am I crazy?

  8. If anyone is in stores today (particularly NYC), please let me know if the 30% off is still going on. Would make a lunchtime shopping trip worthwhile :)

On an unrelated but positive note, I recently placed my first JC order in months - final sale items too, against my better judgment - and everything fit beautifully and I'm really happy with the items. Success! Now to find out if they last ;)

What surprised me most about my order is that I had ordered a 00 in the Teddie dress and read in the comments here, right after the window expired to change my order, that it runs really small so I was upset that I didn't order the 0. Well as it turns out, my 00 is very roomy! Perhaps it's labeled wrong? Not that I'm complaining - I was fully expecting it to fit me like the cotton gauze Belinda dress from last summer that ran so small it wouldn't even zip up my ribcage! JC sure does confuse me with their sizing... ;)

    1. Hi,
Can you place the Valentina Patent Pumps (walnut) in Sz 8 on hold if found.

Need to do a size exchange!

      Thanks so much.

    2. Candece, I'm so sorry I didn't see your comment until after I came back from the store, but if I see the Valentina pumps you're looking for over the weekend I will definitely put them on hold and let you know :)

    5. Dara - I must be in the minority too...I have the teddie in my normal dress size and find it to be roomy, but not enough to have sized down. Love the dress though - I wear it all the time.

    4. what does the margate bag in blue IRL do for you? love or like ? too big too small ? does the patches of leather make it look casual or not? THANKS P.S I saw the havana clutch and it is tiny. Big price tag for a little bag.

      Delete
    5. Hope this helps- The Margate was beautiful, but it was smaller than I expected. Tight fit for an ipad with a case. The blue was really pretty and I would have kept it if I hadn't already gotten the Tillary Tote. I also got the Lucille dress- it was short (almost mid-thigh) on me, but I am 5'11. Not enough extra fabric to let it out. Overall, the style seemed a little juvenile to me and the dress should be in the crewcuts section instead.

  13. I already cut the tags off an item about which I'm having second thoughts... And opened the vent, too (no2 pencil skirt, which wrinkles easily). Can I still return it or am I stuck with making it work?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I would try calling the store where you purchased it or the main CS number if you purchased it online and ask them. They may allow you to return it or exchange it as long as it looks like it's in "new" condition. I'm very, very quick myself to take the tags off items and about 2 years ago I bought a Jackie cardigan in a mushroom-y color that was beautiful on the hanger but ended up washing me out completely; naturally I realized this after I'd already cut off the tags which didn't help matters. I ended up bringing it to the collection store uptown and asking if I could exchange it, and they let me return it. Probably depends on who you speak with on any given day, but I don't think you're necessarily stuck with it.

      Delete
    2. I was able to return a dress I bought that I took the tags off. It was weird though, the lady at the store I went to (SF Centre) gave me a lecture about how they would have to throw the dress away because they couldn't sell it. When I asked her if they could donate it, she said no. I'm sure there is some weird reason, but I didn't think the lecture was the best cust. service!

      Delete
    3. Um... it's easy to reattach the tags, if you haven't thrown them away. That little nylon thing the tags are attached to can just go back through the cloth like a needle, and the end reattached with crazy glue. Or even heated a bit with a flame.
I'm inveterate tag-ripper-offer and have regretted purchases too. (Please don't think I'm returning anything I've worn) As for the vent, those often are already open from people trying them on instore, so I wouldn't worry about that.
Madeline, I've never heard anything SO insane - talk about guilt tripping you.

  14. OT (sorry) - has anyone tried any of the suiting styles? I'm looking at a few things and wonder about the quality of these items.

    Thank you

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I bought a couple suits from J Crew. Overall I thought the quality was good but the downsides were that the petite skirts are too short to be work appropriate (but petites can size up to regular) and that some styles of pants are unlined. Other than that, I would gladly buy more JCrew suiting.

      Delete
    2. I've had exceptionally good luck with the Super 120's suiting pieces, the pencil skirts in particular. I think the trick is finding the right size (a statement which probably applies to a lot of JC items). I wear a 00 or 0 in straight size skirts, but a petite 2 is perfect in the Super 120's skirts whereas a petite 0 wrinkles across the hips after I've been sitting and looks like it's pulling a bit. For reference, I'm 5'3" and around 106 lbs. As far as the quality, these are items that will last for years and years and retain their shape beautifully - worth their value even at full price. Hope this helps!

  15. @LilyBart: I have quite a few of J.Crew's suiting pieces and have only good things to say about them. They are well-constructed and wear beautifully. I've never tried any of the Ludlow pieces, but the Wool Crepe and Super 120's run TTS and the Superfine Cotton runs a size large IME. You can get away with the Super 120's for 4 seasons unless you live in the South, which I why I've come to love the Superfine Cotton :)

  16. OT: did anyone else notice that J Crew updated all their stock pictures, even for items that have already been on the site for a long time?

For example, the Sophia gown in silk chiffon has been on clearance for about a year, but they just gave it all new photos (19836) and kept one old close-up. The polka dot Natasha also has a new model (54034).

It seems a bit silly, since I don't understand what was wrong with the old ones, or how the new ones are any better.

  17. Jcrew in nj riverside sq mall was running a promo yesterday 30% off suiting but superfine cotton styles only...hth I like their jacket in navy, pairs well with jeans for a casual look with sleeves rolled up. Suit collection pencil skirts in cotton were also 30%

  18. Just popped by my B&M at lunchtime - 30% off sale items is still in effect and all sales are final. My store (45th & Madison in NYC) had quite a lot of the cotton cable sweaters for $13.99 after the 30% off. (Is there something really wrong with this sweater that I'm not seeing? It fit rather nicely, so the price surprised me.) Went in looking for sale tees to wear around the house and did find a few, but what really excited me was finding the candy stripe cashmere sweater in the green colorway in my size - I've been stalking that one for awhile! I don't think what I paid ($97) was such a great price given JC's cashmere pilling issues, but I haven't splurged in a while so I rationalized.

The sale section also had a few dresses although sizes were very limited, and I saw lots of basic pants, sweaters and tees.

    ReplyDelete
  19. The Las Vegas store still has 30% off but final sale. It goes through Sunday. They had sweaters, a lot of t's and some random dresses and pants. They had one size 00 dress in the big polka dots on sale. Sorry, I cannot recall the price.

    ReplyDelete
  20. stopped in yesterday...hope I am not raining on anyones parade but all the sandel I tried on even the sydneys did not seem worth the price. If I compare them to other brands like nine west they not worth the cost. I think aldo shoes are probably comparable. The suede ons I think would look old quickly... the patent ones look plastic in those bright colours and the valentina flats I think I would ruin if I did not take excellent care of them. The bags were very nice..but the havana clutch is pretty tiny for such a big price tag...just saying JCA'S I think later on we are in for alot of final sale products that we all have been lusting over. Try to check them ALL out IRL before you press that order key. Have a good weekend.

  21. I just got lots of nice new things that I reviewed, like the new pencil skirts and featherweight cardis, reviewed here:

    http://handbagaficionado.blogspot.com/2012/04/jcrew-2012-may-roll-out-and-reviews.html

The store was running 30% off. They were wiped out for the most part, but scored on the leopard patent Drea pumps at 30% off of $99. Meow!

Of course my awards arrived after I already shopped. Oh, well, I can use them next time. :)

  22. I went. I saw. I liked.

I appreciate this roll out; there's a definite increase in the number of pieces I am considering. But I was not in the mood to try stuff on. Any reviews for Elinor dress?

  23. Has anyone seen the Amie maxidress in engineered stripe (navy) in XXS in any retail stores? It's on sale, and this is the last day of the extra 30 percent off in stores. My nearest brick and mortar had some in stock in other sizes but wouldn't do a merchandise locator for it.

    1. Turns out the navy version is not on sale in store (only online), but I found a very nice SA at a store in another state who matched the sale price AND gave me the 30 promo for a dress in the size XS. Now I just hope that one fits me!

  24. If anyone is stalking the tipped hacking jacket, Rockefeller Center had 2 in the black/grey for $179.99 before promo in sizes 2 and 0. They also had a bunch of the collection houndstooth Hacking for around $210 before promo.

  26. Help! Is the "Wrap dress in moon dot" wroth $325? I'm in love with it. I'm just concerned, without seeing it in person, that the material may be too thin. I'd like it to live in my closet for more than one season. Thoughts?

  27. OT: Talbots sizing for blouses? Never bought from there, should I size down from my JCrew size? I searched past threads, but they mostly said size down from your previous Talbots size. My JC sizes: 2P (or 0 reg) suit jackets; XSP perfect shirts; 2P or 0 reg for dresses.

    1. @anon: try calling Talbot's customer service line for help with sizes and measurements. FWIW, I'd size down 1 size from JC sizing. For example, for tops I take 6/P8 in JC, and take 4/P6 in Talbots. I've read reviews from others who say they've had to size down 2 sizes. HTH.

  32. Anon, re Talbots sizing:

I have found that Talbots changed their sizing and I am actually been sizing up from my regular J.Crew size in tops this Spring.

Of course, getting actual garment sizes from customer service is probably the best way to go.

  33. Orlando B&M still had a nice sale section on Saturday w Valentinas, cafe' capris, several racks of various casual shirts & sweaters. I ended up getting the seersucker skirt (sized down in this one) and polka dot silk Natalie blouse which fit like a dream, TTS, no armhole bra view, ruffles at collar lay just right. A real beauty :o). Also, I tryed on the floral tie blouse (same as striped version) and discovered a solution to the bra strap dilema!!!) Wear a racerback design and utilize one of those small strap holder together thingys to hold straps together (found mine in Bloomys lingere dept)in the FRONT. Walah! No strap view :)

  36. Just have to vent a bit...I orderd the Altuzarra Patricia Dress the day it debuted on the site (probably around 7 or 8pm EST) and it was back-ordered until 4/30. I got an email today saying that now it won't ship until 6/4! That is absolutely maddening - there is NO reason it shouldn't ship on 4/30 when I ordered it within 12-16 hours of it hitting the site! It was still available in my size the next day.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? For those who ordred the Patricia Dress and have already received it/it has already shipped, when did you place your order?
