This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"
Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.
Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

ReplyDeleteI really need some help with an idea for what to wear to a friend's 40th birthday party. We will be having drinks at someone's house and then going to a club. I want to look fun but age appropriate since we are all around the same age, I seem to have a hard time grasping what that means. I was thinking maybe a lace top and skinny jeans or dress pants but wasn't sure if that was not festive enough, any ideas? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteTeriLynn14, why not try one of the JC sequin tanks? Maybe under a velvet or wool jacket? That's kind of been my go-to staple for festive occasions lately. I'll be 39 in a few weeks, btw.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm also a fan of lace, such as the lady lace popover, so something like that could work too, as long as your proportions are right! :)
Have fun!
Oh, and take a look at the New Year's Eve posting from a few days ago, lots of fun outfit ideas there...
ReplyDeleteThanks! I will check them out to see if I find some ideas. I have always been tempted by the sequins but never purchased. I think it's one of those items I need to start sleuthing for when the markdowns are happening.
ReplyDeleteI'd say skip the dress pants and go with skinny, dark wash jeans and some sassy heels. Wear a top with lots of color or shine (or metallic, always festive) under a more basic jacket for drinks. Then when you get to club check your jacket and go more bare. Bright lipstick and some big jewelry always make an outfit look more "special".
ReplyDeletetotally OT... but did anyone notice that the new "reimagined" version of J Crew's once dependable bridesmaid and party dresses (the Sophia and the Cecelia) are now in poly instead of silk tricotine? Icky, icky! And the price is the same!

ReplyDeleteAnd a $450 bridal gown in poly? C'mon J Crew, we deserve better than that.
