Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. By the end of Oktober reward and jcc reward points will be streamlined and then they both can be applied right at the register.
So everything will be easier for jcc holders as the rewards will be managed inhouse and not by the credit card company anymore!

  2. Received my first order in 6-8 weeks. My spending is way down. The 40% off sale combined with the 15% got me to order. I am pretty pleased with the fit and quality of everything and will be keeping it all. The order was all tops though as I just can’t chance the online ordering of pants, skirts and dresses any longer. I received the Liberty swirling petals popover which I am wearing today. Had this on my wishlist and the price was right. Also received the Abigail Borg 3/4 tee. The fabric is kind of scratchy but I like the print and for the price I will keep it. The polka dot cashmere seeater is also decent quality for the price. Wish the polka dots were on the back too. The liberty PJ’s are my new fav. Love the colors and tipping. Lastly received the Mixed Lace Top in yellow. Eyed this up all summer. Will save for next year to wear with white jeans. I didn’t put anything from the last rollout on my wishlist so hoping I can hold off on purchasing anything else until December.

    3. @Kate - love the CS at that store! It used to be my regular store but now it’s Brookfield. Sometimes (like on Friday) I will go out of my way just to return there and check the sale section.

  4. I know this is OT but I'm wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a product to waterproof my J Crew Field Boots? I usually wear non-leather boots so I'm not sure how to protect them, would love some help!

    1. I use a product called sno seal on my hiking boots. It is beeswax. Heat the boots with a blow dryer and then rub it in. Or apply then heat and rub in. If the leather is light, it will darken it a bit. You have to reapply every so often to keep waterproof.

    2. I really like Frye products for waterproofing. I use both the leather waterproofing spray and the suede & nubuck protection spray. If you register on the website, you can request a $25 off $50 coupon to use on your first order. I used mine for several leather care products.

  5. Has anyone seen IRL the ponte dress in the confusingly named "dark seaweed"? I'm fussy about color and this looks like a shade that could look v different on the screen. To me it looks like a promising shade of (non-dark) fall green. I don't want a spring green and I don't want to look like I belong on the nearby Army base. Would love to hear any observations.

Also, any fit observations on this dress? I note that it looks to be different lengths on different models.

  6. No visit for me. I actually walked right by the store without the slightest thought of stopping in. I don't like anything they have now and the promo isn't that great. Sad but J Crew is really falling off my radar with the offerings over the past 6 months.

  7. Tried the Demylee pointelle sweater and liked it. It was TTS.
Also tried the leopard sweater coat in my regular xs and it was huge. The pattern is very large and was too overwhelming for me.

  8. Has anyone tried the Legacy Blazer in American Wool? How is the quality? Is it worth the price? Is it on par with the quality of the 2007ish blazers? I'm also still hoping for some JCrew Aficionada reviews of the Parke Blazers in English Wool, English Herringbone Wool and Houndstooth Wool. I hope to pick up a couple new high quality blazers this year.

    1. If you try the Legacy blazer, do post a review. For the price I am sticking with my 'old' navy Schoolboy.

    2. I may try it if it's marked down eventually, but the photos online are not appealing enough for me to pay full price.

  9. Another question: how is the quality of the Factory Schoolboy Blazer? I assume it's not so good since it's a wool blend rather than 100% wool.

    1. I considered the Factory Schoolboy, then realized I could get two'new' old Schoolboys on Poshmark instead. Such a nice little jacket. The short length works better on me than the new longer jackets, since I have a smaller waist. The old Schoolboys do run snug, I am a 34C wearing a size 6 for a close but not tight fit.

    2. The navy is fine if you get it on a good promo - not as good as the original retail Schoolboy by any means but okay quality, and the shorter length works better for me than the current retail styles, too. It is a lighter navy. Avoid the black - I returned it because the fabric is awful and it is not really black but a weird faded blackish brown (see reviews). I have no idea how that made it thru production. I found it TTS.

    3. Thanks, ladies. I’ll skip the factory Schoolboy and try to pick up a couple more of the retail version on Poshmark or Ebay. The fit works surprisingly well for me, too. I can’t believe I skipped over them when they were new. I guess the “shrunken fit” description scared me away. I generally have issues fitting my broad shoulders and wide back, but the fit actually seems quite roomy to me.

    4. @ruffles, I saw an apology on the Factory website, and they said the new black blazers were actually black. But the damage is done, I think.

@Jeanne, I think shurnken refers to the length of the body and the sleeves more than the width. Though TTS they are not generously sized. I also have wide shoulders and a muscular back.

    5. I have a few factory blazers and just got the CREAM HUNTER HOUNDSTOOTH in the mail yesterday. I agree they are TTS or just a touch smaller than the retail version. There is some olive and wine is mixed in and I really like colors. Fabric is fine for me - especially for the price. I'm thrilled that factory still carries this cut as it works perfectly for me.

    6. Luxette, that's the one I was looking at. I love patterned wool. I managed to pick up 2 NWT Schoolboys this weekend, so I'm set for now.

That makes sense, p banos. I'm 5'7", so on the tallish side for a woman, but I still have short arms. Most sleeves are at least an inch too long for me, so I'm happy to find a garment with slightly shorter sleeves.

Which reminds me: a couple months ago we were discussing the difficulties with hemming sleeves with working buttons. I recently ran across a couple discussions of a technique a tailor in Minneapolis uses that he calls "the cut job" that I found intriguing. There's a description and photo here:

    1. It's been raining cats and dogs, so I may venture out if the weather clears. Returning most everything i ordered online. Wasn't in love, so decided not to keep. My keepers are the Isabel Bacon t-shirt and bead & stone earrings. Still waiting on some online purchases that will arrive next week: Collection leather midi skirt in navy, Point Sur oversized cardigan in seaweed & boyfriend cashmere sweaters (moss & grey) that were on sale. 40% + 15% for cardperks made the purchases a really good deal. I like the color & style of the Point Sur cardigan, so decided to give it a try too. Hoping that I have better luck since the skirt and cashmere sweaters are on my winter buy list.

  11. I just read that 80% of a US woman’s closet is only worn 1-3 times ever. What a waste. Unfortunately a lot of the fast fashion stuff doesn’t last thru more than 1-3 wears anyway. My 20% is almost all J Crew from the good old days and a very few designer pieces.

    1. I'm undoubtedly in denial, but I swear I wear most of my clothes. I do have quite a few garments, and especially shoes, that I haven't worn much lately, but did wear a lot when I first bought them. I'm trying to convince myself to sell some of the stuff I no longer wear on Poshmark.

    2. I'm trying to be honest with myself about what I wear, what I need and what I'm just hanging on to. I periodically go thru the closet and put stuff aside for good will, but there are always things I don't want to get rid of and hang on to for way longer than I should. Sigh.
