J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs!}

This is the weekly "J.Crew Reviews {straight from the JCAs}" post, to help each other share our reviews.

So if you have recently purchased, or stopped by a J.Crew store to try on an item (or two) from J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Also, this request is not just limited to clothes. Please feel free to discuss bags, shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc.

In particular, if you could mention a few of the noteworthy details like fit, size, fabric, and the like— that would be fantastic! Thanks in advance! :)

  1. Still no Jcrew website but props to Madewell for using an older model to beautifully show off the clothing! I love it! Still won't buy the sweater blends but I appreciate seeing a mature woman with beautiful gray hair and real skin looking attractive and confident in clothing that years ago would have been considered "young."

  2. Has anyone tried the 8" rise jeans? I can't wear most high-rise, they just won't stay up even with a belt because they hit too high above my natural waist. I'm looking for a mid-rise, maybe a bit lower. The Vintage Straight jeans work but they're still a higher rise than I like. Thanks!

    1. I have several pairs. I have a long torso so they're fairly low rise on me but I like them. They pretty much sit on my hip bone.

    2. Agree. So nice to see a “real woman” not some over Botoxed looking mannequin. The way she is styled excudes class, minimalism at its best.

I received an email yesterday invite to an event on Robson St Vancouver store. this thursday. drinks snacks and J Crew icons featured. I think a fashion blogger is there as well. no promo included. a skip for me. parking downtown is a small fortune.

    1. so does the gap. I tries them . they are cropped with a kick hem.
I ordered the tall. I will taper the kick hem and they will fit like higher rise marties. price was 40% with an extra 10%. gap also has an all cotton sweater that is a dupe for a j crew collection one. has the criss cross cable across the front/ plain sleeves ... nice. less than $50 with promos/

  7. I got the Ribbed mockneck T-shirt in stripes (item: K3786). Size small which is my usual size. I think it's adorable. Has a slight 70s feel. BUT I went to put it on this morning and there was a hole in the chest. I've emailed CS about it and I know it'll be replaced. Just very annoying. The material didn't feel delicate where I think it's an issue. I just think maybe it was a freak issue. But I guess just be careful and look it over well if you order one of these mock necks.

  8. Still no website...
considering a conspiracy theory centering on synthetc fabrics, inaccurate descriptions and grammatical oddities

  9. It's crazy to me that they don't even have a "we're working on it" message displayed - just an error message or blank page depending on what browser you're using. Not good for them.

Review wise - I received the silk double pleated midi in floral (the gold skirt with pinky red/blue/green floral). I purchased with one of the 40% off promotions. I'm 5'8" and it hits below my knee and sits a bit higher on the waist. I ordered an 8 which is my pencil skirt size and it just fits so I'd say if you're between sizes to go up. The print is very pretty - there are already a few silk pulls at the waist though so I'm a little concerned as to how it will hold up so the tags aren't off yet. It pairs beautifully with several colors of Tippi sweaters in my closet - burgundy, navy, dark green. It's pretty and different - wouldn't have minded this in a blouse - just trying to decide if it's worth the $100 I paid for it.

  10. I reached out to CS after Short Hills had sale on sale and extra 20% off for cardholders...but didn't have items I wanted in stock.

The response: I'm sorry to say that promotions in our retails stores are not applicable to online orders. They are special offers eligible only on purchases made in that store. However, we are happy to honor any price adjustments or promotional codes for better offers within 7 days from the date your orders ship.

Since when? All the JCAs call for PAs

    1. Did you email CS? If you emailed, I'd reply back and tell them that you've never had an issue in the past - you'll likely get a different agent. You shouldn't have to beg for a PA though.

    2. I just did that. I'll report back!

  11. DILEMMA: the roaming tiger dress is available for $175 in what I think will be my size.* I have a 15% code I've been saving so it will cost about $150. I love the print and style but it's dressier than I normally would need. Do I buy it as a special "out to dinner" or (extremely rare, like I don't know if I'll have a dressy event for a year or so) event dress?

*i size up in perfect shirts so although I'm most often a 00/0 in skirts I thought a 2 might work. If you have the dress and have thoughts, let me know.

    1. I size up in Collection because of shoulders and bust. This dress fits well in the size up and there’s elastic in the waist. Of course you can cinch the waist tie or another belt. I wear it casually to lunch or dinner or even errands. So, it may be more versatile than you think.

As for the CS response that’s BS.

    2. Buy it! You can always return it but I wouldn’t want you to regret missing it! I have the blouse in my usual size 0 (my smaller shirt size). It’s lovely and the dress would be a special piece. Good luck!

    1. I don't usually wear blue aside from denim and some light blue but I like the red. I don't really do navy so I prefer this color more. I never wear dresses anymore and tend to even wear pants for dress up (or shorter skirts) but I love a shirt dress silhouette. I'm hoping the shorter length is less overwhelming On me than longer shirt dresses which I don't like (on myself).

  13. I really like the Book Club blue light readers. I'm working on the computer most of the day and have noticed less eye strain since I started wearing them. They're excluded often, but when they're not they're worth using a birthday GC on.

  14. In the mail today, I received another J.Crew catalog, with 2 more extra 15% off cards, and a $25 birthday gift card. Hooray! I hope something good is coming in the next rollout.

  15. Received an order yesterday and the package contained a foldout flyer with two discount cards inside - $50 off $200 or $100 off $300 purchase.

  16. Received the merino turtleneck with the balloon sleeves. It's really nice. Nicer than expected. Not sure about fit. I ordered the XS, S and XXS. the XS fits in the shoulders nicely but is a tiny bit loose and short in the torso (long narrow torso here). With 8" rise jeans (on my hip bone) it just touches the top. I'll try the other sizes with different bottoms to see what works, but I think the style is really pretty and the material is ribbed but has a nice sheen. Didn't read content but I think it's all wool. Not itchy.
