Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. I'm glad I bought the Abigail Borg striped embroidered shirts a couple of days ago. They were $31.99 before the 40% off. Today they are $50.66 before the 40% off. I wish I could understand what they are trying to do with their pricing. Is this deliberate? Is this just poor website management? What happens in the stores? Do they have to mark up the prices when this happens on the website?

    Inexplicable...

    1. The biggest jump was the Liberty pajamas- the base price is almost $60 more than when I bought them last week! With the discount the final difference is less extreme, but still!

    2. Wow! Every item I purchased the other day is substantial higher now. That is crazy. Glad I purchased when I did. But what are they thinking with these pricing games? It is a turn off.

    3. I bought the pjs before the price jump and received them today. Definitely going to keep; happy with the quality and the print is very pretty. Agree, that pricing games are a terrible idea. I hadn’t thought about Cheritheberry’s observation that unlike JCAs, most consumers are unlikely to know the prices have changed so drastically.

    4. I also got the pajamas before the price jump and am very glad I did - as @mygoddy notes they are good quality and very pretty! I ended paying about $41 for them and plan to wear the top this fall with jeans and a cardigan. It kept me from buying the button up (which would have been at least $60!) and I think I’ll get more wear out of this version. The price jump is just silly (I suppose the markdown could have been a mistake, but still!)

    5. I haven’t had any luck with the Abigail Borg items. The two I wanted, the striped shirt and the pink silk blouse, both looked terrible on me. Does anyone else find the AB tops to be wider/more cropped than similar JC styles?

  2. Probably some automation that changes prices depending on if an item is selling or not. The stores don't always have the same marked prices, but will honor the web price if you ask.

    1. Yep, I have no knowledge about pricing, but I always figured the same. Also, I really don't think most people shop the way we JCAs do. I am consistently surprised that even my co-workers do not know about the price history or online price of an item. To the point where I told a coworker recently that the dress she wanted was like half the price online that it was in store. And we do always and consistently honor online pricing for customers.

On a side note, I am not working this weekend and my wallet is happy. Last night I bought that new silk blouse in the green jungle cat print. It fit better than their blouses usually do for me and was tts.

  3. Heading there tonight to do returns/exchanges. Two items just because I bought two sizes of each. And one item (a poncho) which fits and which I like but it's literally so heavy. I put it on and it felt like a weighted blanket so I'm not sure I'd actually wear it.

    1. Well... that didn't work as planned. None of the registers were working. So now I have to go back to do returns.

    2. Yeah. I think the employees were really annoyed and embarrassed. They were on the phone trying to figure stuff out.

    3. Unless the store is really close, I think in this case I'd contact CS And See if they'd waive return shipping fees. That's just really outrageous.

    4. Luckily it's not too far. My schedule just gets hectic sometimes and trying to squeeze in a trip to the mall takes a bit of planning.

  4. I'm so boring but my life just seems to be getting more and more casual. Of course I like to dress up for dinner and any other excuse, but for the most part I could either live in sweats/gym clothes or jeans and black sweaters.
I know last year a JCA posted about Gap Cone Denim jeans. I was just looking online and there are a bunch really reduced in price but final sale, so I won't bite. However if you know your size they look like really nice jeans. There is also a cable knit COTTON turtleneck tunic for $60 before promo. I'm not in a rush to buy a heavy turtleneck yet, but will definitely have to check out the material and fits in person. I really feel like I could get rid of 3/4 of my clothes and barely miss a thing so I'll have to take it easy with shopping.

That said, the other day I wore my distressed jeans in Charles wash (I sized up and down and only wear the larger size for some reason). We rushed off the dinner so I threw off sneakers and threw on Sophia pumps in black patent, merino vneck n black (sadly had holes before I even wore it so it's only good as a layer) and the going out jacket with ruffles in black. Since the jacket is slightly cropped on me I think the longer fitted sweater worked well proportionately. My biggest complaint about this jacket is the pockets are too small to be functional. I wish they were big enough to hold my phone.

    1. I should add the Jcrew/Point Sur jeans I almost bought the other day when the big sale promo started have increased in price by $20.

    2. I think I could get rid of 3/4 too and not miss it, that’s a good reminder. I don’t know why I just keep buying and buying, I need to get back to being more thoughtful about my purchases.

  5. For those of you who have been eyeing it - Liberty Betsy Ann sleeveless tank is finally on sale! I've been waiting for this. It's marked down from $115 Canadian (which is crazy) to $91.99 Canadian (which is still crazy). I presume the US prices will be more reasonable because they don't reflect duties and exchange rate. With the 40% off BIGSALE promo, it takes it down to about $55 Canadian (which is still too much for a cotton tank top), but my FOMO led me to place an order now since I can try on two sizes.

  7. I bought a couple pairs of the Cameron Cropped Pants, my first purchase in ages. The petite length was about the shortest I can find anywhere so I thought I would give them a try but I might return them. They aren't supposed to be high waisted but I feel like they come up well above my waistline and when I sit that area bulges. I have more of a pear shape so finding pants with the right rise and petite proportion is very hard for me. They aren't lined and felt slightly scratchy although fall is late to arrive in Maryland so maybe I was just hot. They were stretchy which I liked but I don't know if they are a keeper, I need to try them with booties and loafers first. I have such trouble finding work appropriate pants that are short enough to not need tailoring. I was convinced to give them a try after I went into the store, also my first visit in ages, the gray is a nice color so I'm hoping to make them work.

    1. I have two pairs of petite Camerons, one in the all-season fabric and the other in seersucker. I love them - I'm 5'1 and pear shaped, and I love the stretchiness. The petite crop length actually is almost regular length for me, so they're too short to wear with booties, but I wear with heels, ballet flats and sneakers.

  8. I am curious about a recent development. I am receiving emails from J.Crew factory and Madewell but nothing from J.Crew retail since the middle of September. I thought it was a little odd so I went in to check my email preferences and nothing looks different. Has anyone else noticed the same thing?

    1. YES! I’ve even emailed CS multiple times requesting to be added back on the list. If it weren’t for a) my insistence w checking the site daily, b) milled.com, and c) this page, I’d have no idea what they were doing anymore.

    2. This happened to me! I went into the store and “contact me” was unchecked. They would change it, and it would change back immediatley. This went on for weeks. I had to call customer service and have them investigate and then sign me up again. Im getting emails and receipts now. Good luck!

    3. I also seem to be unsubscribed. I tried subscribing again but it doesn’t seem to pick up the change. Annoying.

  10. Does anyone know if you get rewards back? As in you used them on an order and end up returning the whole order? Is it something that has to be requested or is it use it and lose it even if you don’t keep it?

    1. I’ve always gotten them back. Usually in the form of a gift card!

    2. i once did an instore return with a charming SA who was completely at a loss, and finally gave up and credited back the whole price of the order, which had the effect of applying the rewards to my remaining balance. I did not complain. Usually, however, there’s a gift card.
