Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I discovered pure collection recently. They have some beautiful wool pencil skirts (that Boden use to do so well in but have been missing the mark lately). I’m thinking of trying a skirt and will report back on what I think soon.

    1. I hope you’re pleased with what you order! I discovered them a few years ago when another JCA (Dina) blogged about them. Some great classic styles. If they made better color choices and jazzed up some of their offerings just a bit, they could really fill the space left by “old J Crew.”

  2. A BCBGMaxAzria dress caught my eye a few weeks ago. Unfortunately it was a summer 2018 piece and the last one left in the store wasn’t my size (in Canada, MaxAzria is now carried by The Bay, I believe all the standalone stores have closed). There aren’t any more at The Bay, nor at Macy’s, Lord & Taylor, etc., nor in my size on the BCBG online store. I’ve looked on eBay, Poshmark, and Tradesy with no success. Can anyone suggest any other source that might be worth pursuing?

    1. How about bluefly.com? I've never actually bought anything from them, but I see that they do carry some BCBGMaxAzria.

    2. Toronto Modern, thank you so much. I hadn’t been to Bluefly in years and had totally forgotten about them. Unfortunately they don’t have the dress either, but I really appreciate the suggestion.

  3. I made a second purchase at Everlane (early adopter I am not). Previously, I purchased a dress (Deep V-neck A-line dress) - the fabric and quality were excellent for the price.

This time, I got the Mover Pack and the Street Fleece pant. The Mover pack will prove its chops after I use it on a 9-day trip to Japan. In the meantime, I'm loving the minimalist design of all three pieces along with the price points.

The pants are somewhat ... puffy in the butt area, but the scuba-like material elevates the casual sweatpant look. It's warm and lightweight and I hope it works for lightweight cold weather travel.
