This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale
items at our
various local J.Crew stores. ;)
If
you are stopping
by a J.Crew store this weekend to see
what's available (if
anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in
person, maybe you might be
willing to share that with us in this
post. In particular, if you could
share with us a few of the
noteworthy items that are available, at
what prices, and potential sizes
the store is carrying (as well
as the store location)- that would be
fantastic!
Also,
please let us know if your local store is
carrying an additional percent
off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)
P.S.
I noticed that many of
you have already been reporting sale
items (and in which stores) in
other posts which by the way "thank
you!" :) I really appreciate how
helpful we are for each other!
ReplyDeleteI will be downtown, so I will very likely go.
Some Factory reviews here.

Will a JCA win?!
The two full page ad in the Sep Style Guide screams "See, we are trying so hard to promote that, please participate". Noticed the link on the site too.
DeleteNever been a big fun of their shoes. Hope a JCA wins, though!
I like their Italian made shoes, but would have to agree that sometimes their shoes just don't cut it. I'm interested in trying out the Gemi shoes I've been seeing on the fashion blogs, made in Italy and not as pricey as J Crew's usually.
DeletePlenty of Italian/European brands offering great quality shoes. My fiancé swears by Bruno Magli, say they last forever. If you shop at sites like 6pm.com, you can get some euro brands at a big discount, not that long ago, I got boots See by Chloe for 130 (70% off), occasionally (today) they offer additional 10% off.
DeleteI have returns to make but i think i might wait until next week (I'm off from work). I tried the gemma flats in glitter, marble and leopard and I'm only keeping the leopard. I think the glitter and marble ones are really pretty but not really a love for me. Might just get a nice pair of plain black or red ones because you can never have too many classic pointy toed flats. ;)
ReplyDeleteI haven't had my eye on anything in a while...so probably not. I did receive my slim boyfriend jeans in kinsey wash from Madewell and I am disappointed that they don't fit. (Rant: it took 4 days for them to ship and one of the jeans got cancelled) I should have sized down 2 sizes... Hoping they pop back up in a 25 so I can order them. They are very cute and comfortable.
ReplyDeleteI stopped in a store briefly last night. I was hoping to find a sweater in a deep green, but only saw the mid(fresh parsley?) colored green. Maybe they will have a darker green for their winter roll out....The merchandise looked more appealing than it has for a while- nothing to tempt me, but still looking up!
ReplyDeleteI stopped by my regular store, Lake Forest. Crew cuts has taken over half the lower level and the sale section has been reduced to a cramped corner with nothing but a few shopworn tees and necklaces. It appears to be a permanent change and I wondered if the whole mercantile thing includes a strategy to reduce the presence of sale in retail stores.
ReplyDeleteNow that I have seen and tried on a few new arrivals, I like the outerwear even more. I don't need another vest or that lovely cape but there is lots to love in that department!
Went yesterday and got the misty forest Martie pants (love) as well as two new Tippi sweaters (green/parsely and dark brown). I like the new longer sleeve length on the Tippi much more than I thought I would. I also tried on the d'Orsay kitten heels and feel in love with them. Perfectly done, J. Crew! Now, they are not kitten heels like the name says but nice mid-heel height. They felt comfortable and looked amazing. These were excluded from the recent promo and I just can't justify $378 so they are on my wishlist for now.
ReplyDeletePopped by the Bloor St location today and played the Canadian Price Game - fun for all! Tried the pacey plaid and the rockport plaid shirts, loved them both - great colours, soft fabrics, tts, will be great for fall. They were both 102.00 CAD, with a store promotion of 25% off buttondowns they came to $76, and I was allowed to apply my teacher discount as well for a grand finale of $65 each. Looking on the much-reviled Canadian J Crew website, these shirts are selling for $130.50 each: a $28 mark-up and there is no online shirt promo - WHY?? Never ever going to order from the website again unless there is a super duper sale deal. (Store prices are still reasonable given our exchange - these shirts are $89 on the US site which with the conversion is $116.) Just go to the stores if you can, Canadian JCAs!
ReplyDeleteHi cagliari67. Thanks for your report on the Canadian price game. I will definitely be limiting my jcrew shopping to in-store only now that the online prices are so crazy. My only frustration is that I am tall and of course tall sizes are not carried in-store.
Deletecaliari67 I'm right there with you. Same experience in Calgary at the Chinook Mall. I was lucky to get the 30% off promo on Monday and managed to grab new arrivals as they were being unpacked. Later on I looked online and everything was $20-$30 more per item.
DeleteMy plan is to phone the store and have them ship it to me from the store and avoid the over charge of the website. Really disappointed in the price gouge.
I made a trek to the clearance store in Arden. All summer merchandise is 60% off clearance store prices. I picked up a pair of the Harper tassel mules...LOVE! Several pairs of other misc sandals for nothing and a couple of necklaces that I missed the first time around. Love that place! Employees are very nice and helpful. I also scored the multi colored woven clutch, c8304, that I missed and really wanted. It is so cute and will go with tons of stuff. It looks great with the geo brushstroke print. I have the dress and the shirt.
ReplyDeleteI have those tassel mules, too - and love them! You were lucky to find them because they sold out quickly!!
DeleteI know. I love it when I actually find things over there that I had been eying and they are my size.
DeleteWent to the Factory store, flannel shirts are $39.99 and come down to $30 if you have a J Crew credit card.
ReplyDeleteI took a big load to consignment. They asked me if I work at J. Crew lol. So I don't think I'll go to the store this weekend, I'm working on the outgoing right now.
ReplyDeleteGood for you, Cate! I've donated ALOT of J. Crew lately and it feels good! All my printed capri pants, pencil skirts, a few jackets, a dress, some shoes, sweaters. I 'm just over it. I hadn't worn most of the things in a few years. I kept my navy school blazer, 2 wool skirts (not pencil....things I can actually move in!) my tees. tippis and cardigans....good basics. I've even purged a lot of jewelry. My five bubble necklaces.....hadn't worn them in years. I've changed my clothing needs and desires, lost weight and desperately want a minimal closet. It's just not my closet. I've purged my entire home, thrown out bags and bags of stuff, shredded mountains of old documents, gone to the goodwill countless times. This weekend we're making a big dump run. I have some storage furniture that is empty now....so it goes. Phew! I feel so good! It's been on my mind for a while to clean out then I watched The True Cost and read The life changing Art of Tidying. Very eye-opening and inspiring if anyone is trying to simplify their lives and stuff they own.
DeleteGood for you, Cate & Stray cat! I have a hard time parting with items that are "still good" even if I'm not wearing them much. I'm trying to buy only things I absolutely need until I wear out what I already have.
DeleteWow stray cat, I wish I had your energy! The rest of my home needs purging too.
DeleteI was like that too, cobalt. I donate a lot, but consigning some things helps me get stuff out the door, because I can at least recoup some of what I paid.
DeleteStray Cat, oh my gosh, Bubble Necklaces! I just purged mine too and it's funny you mention them because it gave me such a guilty feeling ... Perfect example of overpriced J. Crap that I didn't need and didn't get much value out of wearing. Big opportunity cost on those at $100 a pop.
DeleteI am so much more discerning and picky now about what I buy.
Hi Ruffles (And everyone else) , Well.....I owned 5 Bubbler necklaces! God. I feel like I went through a period of brainwashing where I had to own everything J. Crew! In my case being able to shop at J. Crew was the incentive to lose 35 lbs. And boy did I celebrate....ha! So J. Crew serviced it's purpose and I'm thankful and I can move on....J. Crew has "moved on" (to clothing and jewelry I don't like anymore) so it's ok for me to release those things that just aren't my style anymore. Someone will be happy to give them a new home.
DeleteI did a complete revamp of my closet last year. Got rid of anything sequin, ruffle, one-season prints, t-shirt with words on it, etc, etc. Such a relief! getting ready in the mornings is easier, no guilt about a closet full of unused clothes (and still a confusion/indecision about what to wear).
DeleteThe minimalistic wardrobe does everything they say it will - you suddenly feel like having a style on your own, the simplicity and confidence that comes with it. Once you do it, you feel like you "own" it, nothing you wear is accidental anymore. Once you get a courage to do it, you'll feel great!
Before I did it, I asked my best friends - what do you see me wearing the most, what do you think I "like" to wear? That pretty much confirmed what I thought my style should be. Quality over quantity was my first and foremost goal. I still love a great bargain, but not for the sake of it being cheap/I might wear it later" buy.
Never have bought any bubble necklaces, but I had my own JCrew fads - and oh boy ruffles, you are SO correct - all that money spent. Absolutely, discerning I am now!
Good to read your stories, ladies!
DeleteBubble necklaces...They were so in and I only got mine on sale at the end of the trend...So are they out of style now? Will J. Crew bring them back ever? I do like them and wear them still.
DeleteAnon.....I've been suffering from chronic insomnia and migraines for quite awhile and when I began my huge letting go I began sleeping peacefully and have had only a few headaches (I was having one everyday). I swear it's because I've let go of so much suffocating stuff, I've got a clear plan and my home is becoming much more clean and clutter free. I'm actually tired at night (I've been working like a dog) and feel great when I wake. I can't tell you how this relatively simple activity of decluttering has changed my life. I'm saving money (yah), can actually find stuff because it has a real place to live and I'm spending a lot less time making decisions because I have too may choices. Less choices is making my life much more happy! I'd like to see J. Crew have less choices....but beautiful, well made, quality choices. I think we all want that.
DeleteDo you guys know if you buy something on promotion and need a size exchange if they honor the promotion price? Or do they charge you the current price of the item?
ReplyDeleteHi Chatty -- you'll pay the same price you paid. Just review the transaction w/the rep, whether in-person on the phone -- before you pay.
DeleteThe GREATSALE promo has been updated with free shipping on all orders Saturday 8/22 and Sunday 8/23. I haven't looked at the extra 50% section in a while but it looks there has been many new additions. With the free shipping it is a great time to grab a single item you have on your list so I may bite.
ReplyDeleteLots of summer stuff now 50% off but final sale. I'm still waiting for my order from Tuesday's free ship promo to be sent out.
DeleteI may stop by as I have other errands at the mall. But I still have not received a shipping notice for my order placed on 8/17. No wonder they are offering free shipping, who would pay for such a bad experience.
ReplyDeleteI haven't received a shipping notice as well on order placed 8/18, 1am, EST. :-( so lame!
DeleteI placed one on the 18th too. One item sipped from a store the same day (unheard of!), the other shipped 2 days later from Lynchburg, expecting today.
DeleteThirding this - I am NOT happy as I need to exchange one of my items for a different color and I'm very worried it's going to sell out (got it on promo and want to price match). So my order can sit in "released" for 5 days, obviously not ready to go, but you can't adjust that at CS. Okay.
DeleteRJ, I would call and explain the situation and see if they will order it for you at the same price. CS seems to be very apologetic about the shipping delays.
DeleteOh and just to irritate me even more. I placed an order with Eileen Fisher online about 2 hours ago, just got the shipping notice, plus they ship UPS 2nd Day Air to store at no charge!!!! If I had not gotten such a great deal on downtown field jacket and some new arrivals, I would tell J Crew not to bother to ship.
DeleteYep.....my last few orders were very slow. 5 days to ship....9 days total to receive. Unacceptable. I've ordered from other companies lately (replacement household stuff....bedding, etc.) and mostly have 2 day shipping! Many have free shipping as well or a coupon of some sort. I just don't have the time, the patience or the will to battle J. Crew every time I order something.
DeleteI have been looking at the fireburst necklace C1882, and decided to get it. I had the impression that the last time this was released, it sold out quickly and it looks rather labor intensive to make. (I do beadwork and am always looking for ideas on how to use up some of my stash!). Anyway, should be fun to see IRL.
ReplyDeleteI was at the mall anyway so I stopped by the crew and bought the CRYSTAL CUFF BRACELET in multicolor originally
ReplyDelete$98.00. Online price is $69.99 with additional 50% off which they matched for me bringing it down to $34.99. It was not marked down in store and in the full price case if anyone is looking for it. It is more of a spring piece , very purple but the colors are gorgeous and the ivory cuff makes it unique. Hoping to wear it before fall colors set in but the way the colors are at JC for the season, it may not matter and fit right in. It runs small and may not fit you gals out there with a larger wrist.
I also bit online and ordered the Plumeria seamed shell this morning when it popped back in what is hopefully my size (4). Item C5533 at $39.99 less 30%. I'm just searching for about 4 summer pieces to popback that would transition to fall and making my fall list: gray puffer jacket, camel cape and the Cabernet d'orsay flats.
Happy weekend everyone!
