"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. I'm peeved that they changed the Tippi. WHY mess with perfection?! Now I will have to snap up as many of the old school Tippis on eBay & Poshmark as I can (like I did with the Cafe Capris!)... also considering getting backups for my navy & ivory ones!

    1. Awwww man... Did they really??? Craaaaaaaaaap. I was worried when I saw they changed the sleeve length. I didn't really care about that, but figured if the sleeve length changed, then other things were changed as well (and NOT for the better). Two of my current Tippis have holes -- looks like I will be looking for a tailor to do repairs. What else has change?

    2. From what I have read (I don't have a store near me so I haven't seen them in real life yet), the sleeves are tighter - someone reported that they measured against one of the old Tippis & the sleeves were 2" slimmer! No bueno.

    3. ^^Sorry to double-post, but I think what bothers me so much about that is, the Tippi is a staple layering piece for me during Fall & Winter. Slimmer sleeves = layering no-no, at least when it comes to a shirt underneath the sweater!

    4. Taylor i just bought the burgundy Tippi and i found not much changed, except maybe the sleeves are a tiny bit longer.

    5. I also have several Tippis and find I prefer the new cut. I don't like that the sleeves are a little longer, but I didn't think they were slimmer. In the end, it works for me because the shoulder area was weirdly tight on me in the old fit, so I would size up twice and the sleeves would start to bag out on me anyway. I would say try it on if you haven't yet and see - I tried mine on pretty much just to feel vindicated in my annoyance and ended up buying it LOL.

    6. I never had an older tippi but did try on a new tippi in my usual size xs and sleeves were very tight and stomach was also very tight.... I then tried size small and it fit better.

    7. I also love the old Tippi sweater and was skeptical about J. Crew making changes. I ordered the beautiful new parsley color and wore it for the first time yesterday. I was surprised - really like the longer sleeve, maybe slightly tighter in the arms, fit in the body seemed unchanged to me.

  2. I won't complain about the Canadian price gouging online (did enough of that last week). My beef is with shipping, or more exactly the lack of shipping.

Five days into my order being released and still hasn't shipped. I know it's only clothing and not a heart transplant so technically not too time sensitive but come on J.Crew ship it before it's too late to be worn and the season has changed.

    1. It took 6 business days for my order to ship and the canceled the only item that I really wanted. There is no way it took them that many says to figure out that the item is sold out. It's all going back at this point and I am back to not shopping at j crew. Their stock tracking and shipping are a complete joke!

  3. I think I speak for many when I simply say this rollout's shipping. 9 days later and I am ready to knock the mailman over charging at him for my package today. Watch, everything will look bad on me lol.

    1. Haha...same here, RJ. All my wasted energy obsessing over packages that take forever just to get the shipping confirmation, and the clothes might not even fit.

    2. Yep, had to exchange one item for a different color (thankfully got the last one in stock) and then reorder!!!! the pleated midi in a petite size because it was MUCH longer than was expecting. At least the cardigan that was $35 on promo fit LOL

  4. I love getting my rewards. JC has programmed me to wait and wait for them. Will they come via email? or snail mail? Sometimes I don't get an email. Sometimes I don't get a card in snail mail. If I get both, I get the email first then the actual card. This time, I got the card first and weeks later an email! Very confusing. I, filled with hope, checked the code to see if there had been an error, and I was deserving of more rewards money. Alas, no. The system is broken, it always has been, and it needs to be consistent and fixed. What's so hard about making this happen?

    1. Same here, Stray Cat. I have a short list of holes to fill in my wardrobe for fall but haven't purchased anything yet. I'll wait for the next J. Crew rollout to see if anything I need is offered. Since it is mostly basics I am lacking, having worn them out, I doubt I'll likely end up spending my money elsewhere.

And, just sent another huge bag to Thredup.
