J.Crew Offers An Extra 20% Off Their Final Sale

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Naomi (in this post), Tiffany Rose, & Marietta, who let us know about J.Crew's most recent offer.

J.Crew is offering an additional 20% off sale items (click here) using promo code EXTRA20. This offer expires this Friday, 7/10/09. Moreover, J.Crew sent an email (shown below) announcing this sale is available on sale items in their B&M (brick & mortar) stores too. {yey!}
This was just the promotion that many of us have been waiting for. Happy {sale} Shopping! :)

Are you planning to take advantage of this promotion? If so, what items are you planning to get? If not, what are the reasons behind your decision (e.g. nothing tempting to get, promo not enticing enough)?

P.S. If anyone has a free shipping code, please share! The JCAs would very much appreciate it. :)

  1. Finally, was so excited to see this! I picked up the jersey twist-strap dress and the corsage sccopneck tee...I was being good and didn't go crazy!

  2. If you only buy a couple of items it is about the same as free shipping. 20% is better than nothing. I was really hoping for 30%. Not much left in the sale section that hasn't beeen there for a while...and the site has not updated for several days.....

    ReplyDelete
  3. I'm glad there isn't anything I really want in the sale section. I'm not good at turning down a sale offer :D

    ReplyDelete
  4. The good thing about this code is that there is no minimum and if you do buy a lot you can save quite a bit more than free shipping.

Thank you for sharing the code.

  5. This is great for me! I'm so excited - but I think I will wait and see if there is an update today. either way I am going to be ordering at least a few things

  6. Danger, danger!! (:

I'm on standby for a site update...

  7. I was happy to see this and have been hesitating on a few items so today I pulled the trigger! I added a crewcuts dress for my niece too but it would not give me free shipping. However, in the details it does say "this offer cannot be combined with any other offer" so I am assuming that's why I didn't get the free shipping. Oh well, doesn't hurt to try! Also - I noticed that only 1 of my items was marked as "final sale" (wide leg linen trouser). I printed off my order screen because in my last order, including sale items, none of the items were labeled as "final sale" while I was placing the order and then when I got the items, they all were flagged as final.

    ReplyDelete
  8. Good news...I ordered a few things and only one of them had the "final sale" beside it at checkout.

    ReplyDelete
  9. The items will come marked as final sale though most likely in your shipment--either on the invoice and/or the plastic bag itself. Also, the store clerks are aware when final sales started and will look for that time period if you make a return.....well, you get the idea.

  10. I snatched the Cashmere Cascadia Cardigan (nice markdown!, corsage tee and summerweight chinos in Glazed Pecan which I have been stalking. Yeah!

  12. I've been waiting for an extra % - I ordered the tortoiseshell resin bangle and the boyfriend tee in pale aloe.

  13. Glad others are finding what they want. I am holding fast and not buying anything on final sale. I think the the only thing that would make me cave would be the old fashioned 40% off of sale. Ahh! the good ole days:)

    ReplyDelete
  14. I placed a couple of orders during the final sale last week and there are some items that aren't marked final sale both on my invoice and order/email confirmation. I did ask the sales over the phone and was told most items are marked final sale not all. I guess I'll try my luck today when I go to the store to make the returns. Really happy that they're having the extra 20% in store promotion!

  15. This may be old news, but can anyone comment on the fit of the merino chiffon-trim cardigan? Is it similar to the Jackie cardigans? If the sweaters are fitted, I like to order up one, but chiffon-trim looks a little baggy on the model and I can't tell if it's how the sweater fits or if they put a baggy sweater on her! :)

    TIA!

  16. I was ready to pull the trigger this morning on a bunch of items but with that shipping and tax it pused the price way back up after the discount.

It's just not worth it for me...but I wanted those sale items so badly, but I really don't need anything.

    ReplyDelete
  17. I'm a bit upset that final sale items cannot get free shipping if ordered over the red phone. is this new or did i just miss this?

    ReplyDelete
  18. MN2NY - to get the free shipping your entire order must be crewcuts. Any non-cc and they will charge you shipping on that portion.

Math Teacher - please post your review of the tortoiseshell bangle! I've had that in my cart for a while now but I hesitate to order. It looks so orange in the online picture (more orange than I would prefer).

    ReplyDelete
  19. You cannot get free shipping on sale items with the red phone. Been that way for a while. Lots of posts have mentioned it and Alexis had a special post all about it as well.

Not that long ago JCrew would also let you get the extra 20 off automatically. No code needed. Then you could use a free shipping code (often) as well. They don't like you to be able to get more than one discount. I have been shopping other places as a result. Found some high quality, cute pieces at boutiques. I am expanding my shopping b/c of their changes in policy. Still like JCRew but not spending as much there.

  20. Yes! I had been waiting for the extra 20 -

I bought Silk treasure tunic in blush, Cotton ruffle tank in stone, Silk double cami in champagne, and ringspun ruffle short-sleeve painter henley in sweet lemon.

    ReplyDelete
  21. just got back from brinton lake PA store. Additional 20% off there as well on final sale items. they had:

tons of paper poplin shorts sizes 0-10, all colors.
bon bon dresses in aloe and navy for $29.99
tons of tissue v necks 24.99
    cotton tunics
some cafe capris in white, pink and aqua
bermudas in navy, pink, tan 19.99
beacj fabric ruffle ups, and other beach coverup type stuff
    strapless jersey dresses, all colors.

I didnt look at most of the sizes, just took a quick peek for you JCA'S. I was making a return and ordering a FP swimsuit over the red phone.

Hope this helps and happy shopping!!

  22. Kristin - I've seen the bracelet IRL and it wasn't orange so I'm hoping the one that comes isn't either. It's a very substantial bracelet - could do some harm if it hits someone! :)

  23. Audball:

I purchased a chiffon trim merino cardigan several months ago and returned it. I think it definately fits longer than the Jackie cardigan. I am pretty short though (5'2"), and many J. Crew sweaters are too long for me. I would not size up in that sweater.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Also, for those of you hitting b&m's today, would you check the jewelry? There's a necklace that I want that's in store only - it's long (48"+) with brown dangles, kind of like the dangling gold disc necklace, except the dangling part is brown, not gold. If it's on sale, then I'll head down to my b&m to get it. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  25. SE Mom: Thanks for the info...I'm trying to decide if I should just save the $30 or so and get a Jackie, which I know is proportioned fairly well for me. I really appreciate your input! :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. Audball-

Thought I would add that I purchased the new merino 4 pocket cardigan even though it is full price. That sweater I would say fits closer to the Jackie and is shorter than many of the more recent styles.

    ReplyDelete
  27. SE Mom: Thank you again. I can see from the model photo where the 4-pocket would be more in line with the Jackie.

Funny, they all say "hits at hip"...last time I checked, my hips didn't move ;)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Nothing that I desperately want... so I'll pass on this sale. If it had
free shipping with the 20% off I would consider.
I might head to local B&M but there were nothing too exciting last week I was there. Maybe it's a good thing since I'll be making some returns... got to save for Fall...

    ReplyDelete
  29. i would love another corsage tee- but i don't want to pay shipping.

    oh well.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I ordered a bunch of stuff I've had my eye on: the strapless jersey dress in charcoal, a corsage tee in mushroom, the raw-edge slub tee (hoping this doesn't run huge - anyone know?), a georgia cardi in shell, and one non-sale item - a rosette tee in pewter. The discount covered a little more than shipping and tax.

  31. I just got back from the b&m at the Seaport (NY) and they just received 9 boxes of sale items from the Prince Street store.... apparently they weren't selling at Prince St, but the Seaport b&m is really moving merchandise. I picked up the Double Serge Big Bow skirt in the olive brown color for $55.99, they also had the pink color as well. Lots of tees, button downs, jersey dresses, shorts, minis, and capris. Only a few necklaces on sale by the register, and headbands with the chiffon flower at the side. I also picked up the Cashmere Cascadia Cardigan online.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Math teacher: that necklace is one of my finds last Friday (but I got the one with the pearls instead of the brown dangles). Pics coming soon. It was 29.99! I saw the brown one in the window at the Madison Avenue Collection store, in case you want call them. I'm sure it's on sale too.

  33. I actually bought a few of winter coats -- the tulip, the peacoat, and the simone peacoat from last year for $79.99 each (after 20%) -- I was looking for something else and came across them -- they are not listed under the Sale section. You have to search for "Coat" and it comes through -- size selection isn't great, but really awesome prices for the coats!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. New Campo bags added: a messenger and a tote :)

    ReplyDelete
  35. Can anyone provide fit info on the double-serge cotton skirts compared to the double-serge wool skirts from last fall/winter? Are they TTS? Do all the sizes fit the same?

    Thanks in advance.

    ReplyDelete
  36. Editor tote in weathered stone for $120? Okay! I already have the satchel in sandalwood, so I'm basically just completing the set, right?!

I bought some swim wear as well - anyone have any thoughts on J. Crew swim separates?

    ReplyDelete
  37. Ema - thanks! I can't get there today, but I'll make a trip tomorrow morning. I was just there on Thursday and it wasn't on sale, but maybe I'll get it lucky and it will be marked down this time. :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. I was able to return the stuff that I bought during the final sale last week in which the final sale word isn't marked on my invoice. So if there's NO final sale word, I guess it isn't final sale! :)

Saw a tiffany blue color bow pencil skirt in size 2 at the 18th Street store in Union Square NY. Also have color pink & orange in many sizes. The sale section is very full. I got a patent belt for only $6.99 + 20% off! They have lots of the yellow primrose garden necklace for $49.99 and a pearl dangling earring for $29.99. It's definitely worth to go check it out at the stores even though it'll be final sale with the 20% off.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I bought the editor tote for $120 too, and some other cardigans, tees, etc I was holding out on for extra discount. Tote def not worth $400 but for $120 it's a good deal. Also got the fireworks necklace, with discount was about $50 which is about max what I will pay for JC costume jewelry.

Just a note on the cascadia cardigan--I saw it in person at the collection store. It is cute, but is thick cashmere, more like what you'd wear in the winter than in the summer. But if you like it, might as well get it and save for fall/winter.

  40. Anyone see the Medallion top in a B&M recently? Please report back if you see it in size 8, 10, or 12.

    TIA!

    ReplyDelete
  41. ShuLvr,

Saw the Medallion in Westlake, OH store yesterday in a size 8. The number is 440-250-8924 (ask for Julie, I think she works tonight). Good Luck!

  42. Thank you cdlenhard, I will give it a try!

  43. Heading to Beachwood, OH to return the godawful dressy jersey twist strap dress that I was lured into buying by its $19.99 price tag, only to get home, try it on again, and realize how cheap looking it is. Hopefully will find something else!

    ReplyDelete
  44. Cass -- thanks for the info on the Cascadia Cardi. I have *lusted* for this sweater since first seeing it. I am OK with saving it for Fall -- I am about done with the Summer JC offerings anyway :)

  45. BTW, I' still looking for a ruffle-collar (Keegan) trench in almond in a size 0 (best) or 2. If anyone spots one or has spotted one, please let me know here (or even better, if you could put it on hold under my name and let me know). Thanks!!!

    ReplyDelete
  46. Ema,

Lenox B&M in Atlanta had 2 Keagan Ruffle Trenches this weekend in size 0, one in white and one khaki colored...I bought the white one, but the khaki one might be there if you are lucky! :)

    Their # 404 237 2739.

    Good luck!!

  47. It annoys me that I just placed an order with a couple final sale items in it last week, and that my order was mysteriously delayed for a week before it finally shipped today, but that they still consider it a 'previous order' and won't apply the coupon. Has anyone else had the experience of having their orders mysteriously delayed for much longer than usual just at the cusp of a new coupon? I think this is the second or third time this has happened to me this year.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I swear they've added new campo bags online - a messenger version and a grey version. Were those there before??

    ReplyDelete
  49. audball,

I've noticed they all say "hits at hip" even though the lengths vary also. I wish they'd put the actual length measurements on their sweaters/tops like they do on their skirts/dresses. I tried on the Navy merino chiffon cardigan in the store last week and I really liked it. It is a little longer than the jackie but I actually like that about it. I'm only 5ft2. It isn't as long as a boyfriend type cardigan so it's a good in-between. I also found it more fitted in the waist area than the Jackie (i have 2 jackie's)so that with the length gave it a little bit more of an elegant feel than the jackie but still basic enough to wear with different things. I will purchase it eventually but am holding off now due to lack of funds. Hope that helps! (Also, I wore my normal size)

    ReplyDelete
  50. Hi Everyone! Much like many of you, I was excited to add things to my cart with the 20% off. But once I saw those shipping & taxes added on, I opted to not buy.

Instead, I stopped at two of my local J.Crew stores...

    Westport, CT
-you have to look for the sale items throughout the store, as there is no sale section
-they had several Crystal Bow-Tie Necklace near the front register on sale
-Large Gallery Hobo in White on sale (only one)

    New Canaan, CT
-Jackpot! This store had a great sale section.
-Several Large Gallery Hobos in Black and some in White for $175 (pre-20% off, so it comes to $140)
-lots of sandals in all sizes
-Organdy fleur capri sandals on sale online for $59.99, the store had them for $29.99 (again, pre-20% off)
-Palma patent ankle-wrap flats on sale online for $59.99, the store had them for $39.99 (patent colors) and $49.99 (leather colors)

Hope this helps those JCAs in CT! :)

    ReplyDelete
  51. Just to second what Priya said, I snagged a Plaza coat for $79.99 and a Fiona jacket for $51. You'll need to search for "coat" or "jacket" rather than using the sale index. Lots of Ecoles too.

    ReplyDelete
  52. More goodies you have to enter in "search" rather than sale:

Sherpa-lined goosedown puffer vest (was $118, now $49, take additional 20% of that) #96560 {I have 2 and adore them} [search "vest"]

Handknit shawl collar cable vest 97939, soft, gorgeous

The Peacoat (as in Alexis' Paris catalog avatar), #99724 [search "vest"] Beautifully made, jewel colors.

Frustrating, trying to imagine what other words I should enter to get classics on sale ... sigh. Love the hunt, though.

  53. Hi All,

The Mahali Dot capris didn't work for me. THey are a size 8 - offering here for $30 shipped/paypal fees or possible trade - would love to find a Georgia Cardi in Navy size M.

    Marymoo86@live.com

    ReplyDelete
  54. Oops, sorry^

    Search "peacoat" for the peacoat.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Hayes Photography: Thanks for the input! I took a chance and ordered a M navy chiffon trim cardi, just because I don't have a navy cardi in my closet and I think it's a good basic. Depending on the fit, I go between a M and a L and since this seemed a little more generous in fit, I opted for the M...I'll report my findings!

Like others have said, I have been having fun trying to find "old stuff":
    1. Ecoles
    2. Maggie Double-Serge
    3. Boucle Lucille

    ReplyDelete
  56. Does anyone have the petra peep toes, are they TTS? I don't want to take a chance with FS and order in my size if they are going to be too small or too big. You never know with Jcrew show sizing...frustrating!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Random q, but if you see this Alexis--what is your favorite J.Crew location/store here in CT? I've only been to Westfarms (plus Clinton & Westbrook but I don't really count those as they're factory stores).

    ReplyDelete
  58. jillbarnett: Hi! As far as the best J.Crew's in CT goes... (and anyone from CT, please feel free to contribute...) :)

-Westport & Greenwich are the best in my opinion- usually have the most merchandise all around. Both have a great shoe selection and the sale section is normally very good.

Farmington & South Windsor: are great to visit too. When Farmington has stuff on sale, its usually the second half of the store- which is great. South Windsor, doesn't have too much to begin with, but has a good sale section for the most part.

New Canaan: Seems like a tucked away, small J.Crew. Has a small amount of merchandise, when compared to Westport or Greenwich. Doesn't have a shoe section but they do offer quite a bit of shoes (again, nothing compared to Westport or Greenwich).

Canton: really like visiting the store. The sales associates, although the type to hover over you, are very helpful. (The reason I write the hover part is because they always want to start a fitting room while I am still looking around- which is nice, but a bit annoying when I tell the 4th associate that I want to hold my items until I am done looking.) ;)

-New Haven is okay- the selection is much more limited & they don't have a shoe section (although once in awhile they will have a pair here and there to sell). I also find its better to visit in the summer (because I don't have to compete with the Yale students). As far as the sale section, its hit or miss only because you are competing with a lot of undergrads for a bargain. ;)

Stamford: A regular amount of merchandise. The sale section always seems "meh" to me.

I hope this all helps. Sorry for the long post. :)

  59. If anyone is debating on the linen tweed mica mini, I got mine today in navy and the zipper was covered, not exposed. It wasn't the vanishing zipper (or whatever it is called) like on the suiting skirts, it is a metal zipper sewn inside and the fabric "fly" on each side covers the zipper all the way to the top. It is finished similar to the burnished linen skirt zipper, item 14805. I was pleasantly surprised as I expected to have to tailor it in order to cover the exposed zipper but it's perfect as is. Love the fabric too, very nice and fully lined.

The size 6 fit a little closer than I expected, but it's fine. I was hoping to have some extra fabric to tailor the zipper and that is not needed now.

I also received the balustrade mini in a size 6 and it is huge. I need to exchange for a 4 if I don't want it to drop to my ankles. So bizarre that two minis fit so differently.

Not seeing anything else I want on sale. Maybe if there is another restock tomorrow....

    ReplyDelete
  60. xoxo-
I noticed the same thing about the zipper when I bought the navy a month ago. I was at my B&M and saw the Collection Mica Mini (fog) and the zipper is totally exposed, as if it were sewn inside out - no way to cover it. FYI for those who have not seen it.

    ReplyDelete
  61. Susan - when they first came out there was a bit of a discussion on this blog around the exposed zippers on the mica minis. The online photos of the linen version still show an exposed zipper, which looks horrible IMO.

Can anyone comment on the metallic version, #14881? Is the zipper exposed or was the production run changed to hide the zipper? Wouldn't mind this one if the zipper is not exposed. Kind of a dumb trend to copy, although we've all seen worse, I'm sure

    ReplyDelete
  62. xoxo-

I was referring to the metallic mini (#14881) in my previous post - sorry if that was unclear. I saw it today instore (a return?); the zipper looks exactly as pictured online - exposed. It's a different design from the non-Collection micas.

  63. Has anyone seen a review of the silk flower tank or short-sleeve cashmere cardigan anywhere?

I am thinking of getting these to fill out my summer work stuff, but now I won't buy anything on FS unless I've already tried it on or I see it on someone IRL.

    ReplyDelete
  64. does anyone know if the cotton ruffle tank is on sale in stores? I thought I saw it on sale online, but now it's not anymore. Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Chanel Fashionista - I saw the ruffle tank on sale tonite (7/7). Don't recall seeing any leftover in-store. Stock is sparse.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Has anyone seen 20% off sale in their B&M ... maybe to clear out in advance of first fall rollout July 23rd? There was one mention yesterday, just wondering.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I am wondering if they will add free shipping late in the sale like they did with the last extra 20% off . . .

    ReplyDelete
  68. Susan - sorry, I realized that was what you meant after I read your second comment. Thanks for the info.

    ReplyDelete
  69. does anyone own (and love) the linen scoopneck sweater? I saw it on sale in store (with extra 20% off!) and didn't know if i loved it. Thoughts?

    ReplyDelete
  70. Thanks Alexis! Sounds like I need to hop on 95 south and take a lil JCrew journey ;)

    ReplyDelete
  71. Hi !
Can someone tell me if the linen constellations dress runs TTS?
    Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  72. Bekkah,
IMO JCrew did the free shipping/20% off b/c the sale wasn't going all that well. Stuff was pretty much sitting around in the sale section and not selling. I know I had no intention of buying until the free shipping was added.

I guess it all depends on sales and how much inventory they have left. It doesn't seem like as much stuff as last time left in the sale section.

Also, last time, it wasn't FINAL sale. YUCK.

    ReplyDelete
  73. I bought a bikini. The top is listed as final sale, the bottom is not. What's up with that?

    ReplyDelete
  74. Was navy a retail color for the Georgia Cardi? I never saw in my B&M.

If anyone visits a store and sees in a M - would you be kind enought to let me know?

    marymoo86@live.com

  75. I placed an order this morning and something weird happened that I want to share. I was almost at the end of the checkout process (the last screen where you verify that everything is correct before submitting) and the corsage tee was marked as final sale. It occurred to me that I had forgot to check on the Georgia cardi, so I opened another window and the orange bistro had popped back in my size, so I added to my shopping bag in the new window and completed the checkout. Well, in the new final screen/invoice the corsage tee was no longer marked as final sale. It looks like it's totally random.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Audball - I purchased a merino chiffon trim cardigan a few months ago, and I've been very happy with it. I wear a size 6 up top, and the small fits me well. Now, I haven't tried to wash it yet....

    ReplyDelete
  77. himmiefan: Thank you for your input...I'm happy to hear that you like your cardi. I'm a little (ahem) larger on top, so I went with the Medium and will hope that it will look good. I'm glad you are happy with your purchase :)!

  78. Gigiofca: thanks! The stone color was back on sale this morning, so I was able to get one in my size. I bought the white one (full price) and I love it.
