Isn't the "marked to prevent returns" just the standard ebay line for merch from the clearance center? Jcrew doesn't mark their stuff on final sale...
ReplyDeleteRight... the clearance stores mark the merchandise before selling it so people can't buy it there and then try to return it to a retail store for more money. I don't think it's a "line" or that most ebay sellers are trying to be deceptive... or maybe they are. But to me, that's what "marked to prevent returns" means.

My take on "Marked to prevent returns"...
ReplyDeleteI often buy J Crew items on ebay that I suspect are from the distribution center in VA, and I believe the dist center marks the items. I don't believe the factory stores/outlets mark their items. Other times, I buy J Crew items on ebay that I think the seller personally marks (line is a little more messy). I assume this is to prvent retail fraud (trying to return merchandise to the store without a receipt). Just my thoughts!
OT: In regards to the tag being marked conversation... Often times the item came from the clearance distribution center. But sometimes, the retail stores mark the tag too. This is when the item goes on super sale (e.g. rock bottom prices). I have seen this happen a few times (just three or four times, tops) at my local retail stores. So it can be marked from brick & mortar, regular, stores. :)

Is this common or am I being picky here? I did see some shoes that have marker on the sole at the sample sale today.

I have a few additional items. Two cotton Elizabeth halters, both size XS. These are an outlet item, they were $62.50 each. Both 100% cotton, both new. The first is black and white in a geometric pattern. The second is black with a ring design in royal blue, white and yellow. Pictures are available. The black/white has no tag but was never worn, the blue/black/yellow has tags. $30 each shipped, or both for $50.
