http://www.jcrew.com/failover/index_down.html.
Yes, there is a "failover" and the index is "down". ;) On a bright note, at least we haven't seen this screen in a long time. Remember when it use to be a constant staple last summer? ;)
UPDATE: "Thanks!" to all of you, who let us know the site is back up for some of us. {yey!} Unfortunately, it seems that the website issues are now fluctuating back and forth from "up & running", running slowly, and "stay tuned".
Grrr stop the insanity! Sigh.
ReplyDeleteI just checked and the site is fine for me.
ReplyDeleteSite is running slow but I can see things just fine.
ReplyDeleteSeems to be going up and down like a bride's nightie.
ReplyDeleteSo silly that even a mini rollout induces a web spaz. I was able to access once in the last half hour, but that's it. Oh well, it's 5:30pm on Friday, so I'm not going to bother with my computer 'til Monday anyway! :P
ReplyDeleteNo working for me... grrrr. I wanted to check out final sale one last time!
ReplyDeleteLOL! It worked for me a few minutes ago, and now its not working again. Just like the old days of last summer. ;)
ReplyDeleteArgh! I also wanted to look @ FS again-- Oh well, I'm headed out to a baseball game-- I guess JC will be losing some $$...

ReplyDeleteHi all,
ReplyDeleteIt's hit or miss over here on the west coast as well. One more reason to save screen shots of whatever piqued my fancy I guess. Oh & on that note, I have found that the back arrow on my browser will let me see previous pages (small comfort, I know), so at least I can re-re-consider those items.
Hope things are working better for my fab JCAs,
Heather:D
P.S. Alexis, ssshhh... Please don't mention last summer's catastrophes! I'm still recovering from the trauma :}
On the upside, I just ran across (yet another) article about the wonder that is Jenna Lyons in the LA Times: J.Crew's Jenna Lyons is building an empire."
ReplyDeleteFound this passage about the upcoming fall collection particularly interesting: "Each season (spring, summer, fall, winter), it is Lyons' job to come up with a design story. For this coming fall, she started with the idea of three women -- opera singer Maria Callas, actress Lauren Hutton and '60s-era socialite Slim Keith -- and imagined what it would be like if they shared one closet. The collection is an unexpected mix of pieces: a blush-colored tiered lace top worn with sporty rolled-up jeans, a gray feather skirt with a long navy boyfriend cardigan, gray wool houndstooth shorts with a ladylike coat with a jeweled collar."
ReplyDeleteFound a picture of Jennifer Garner wearing a J. Crew tee!
ReplyDeletehttp://l.yimg.com/k/im_sigg34z84GP.tzadeLczmtYZfQ---y526-x595-q75-n1/omg/us/img/78/8e/1931912941_12182558217.jpg
So I was at a J. Crew tonight, taking advantage of the 20% off sale items, and I got a nasty shock-they will no longer combine that with your 15% student discount.
ReplyDeleteAnother policy change. Less savings for us. *sigh*
Rats on parade,
ReplyDeleteAfter reading that article I now know why my long love affair with JCrew is slowly fading. I haven't like much since spring 2008. I liked items from 2001--2004 and fall 2007 the best. Cargo pants and high heels???? (as mentioned in the article--yeah right!) I haven't cared much for anything I have seen Jenna wear as well. I still shop JCrew for the one or two special items each season but I don't buy like I used to...a ton of stuff!
Rats, thanks for sharing that article, it was really interesting. I read it shortly after the last report of the week on consumer economic trends came across my desk ... suggesting that optimism about a recovery is overstated, and we are in for a "W" shaped recession into 2011.
ReplyDeleteIs it me, or is JC getting really out of touch? I understand the need for aspiration and change in fashion, and I love that, but $500 camisoles and furry skirts in the Fall lookbook are about as relevant to most women who buy ready-to-wear as wearing rolled cargos with high heels around town. Sigh, I won't be buying much this season, just looking.

ReplyDeleteHidden (?) items:
ReplyDeleteTiered lace cami - item 17221
Double-cloth camino coat - item 17505
Hammered-metal skirt - item 17702
Metallic Lexi clutch - item 17545
Lexi satchel - 18261
Lexi tote - 18262
Does anyone know if the extra % off sale is still going on in stores? I am considering stopping by, but if it ended yesterday I probably won't. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteany free shipping code?
ReplyDeletesilver_lining, thanks for the sneak peeks. Love the coat and the bags, especially the clutch. Thankfully J.Crew is back to including additional photos of the bags. It is really helpful when I can't see the bag IRL.

ReplyDeleteBekah:
ReplyDeletethe SA at my B&M said final sale 20% off was only until 7/10, yesterday.
Yes, I feel JCrew is "out of touch" as well. How many dry clean silk camisoles can a person own. At one point enough is enough!
ReplyDeleteI would like items that are washable!
The fur coats are too much.
At least the sweaters in the early 2001-3 were pratical and wearable and washable!
Anyone who was interested in the rhinestone collared jacket from the Lookbook. Rhinestone Collared Oberlin or Overland (not sure which). Available September 2nd at $800.
ReplyDeleteThe sweater the girl is wearing while sitting on the floor with her knees up and the little moccasin boots will be out in October and is $148.
The lace minaudiere will be available in September and will retail for $148 as well.
silver_lining - how do you find the hidden items?
ReplyDeleteIt is odd - yesterday afternoon I was looking through the new arrivals online and put a cardigan in my shopping cart. It was dark gray with swirly ruffles around the neck and down the front and I think it was cotton. I went back this morning to look at it again and it was not only not in my cart, it was not anywhere on the site anymore! Weird!? Did anyone else happen to see it? I did not catch the name of it.
So I may have found a hidden item, too. I just put in random search terms and if something comes up I haven't seen, I check it out against the new arrivals.
ReplyDeleteWith "sequin" as my search term I found this: Item # 18079, Tissue sparkling rose tee, two colors, pretty in my opinion...
It is kind of fun, but I can only do this every once in awhile...
Found this item, too. The other new item I found in the last comment was "found" by others, too because the pics had been imported to Polyvore already, but I definitely clipped this one...Long shoreline knit dress, $78.00 item 10774.
ReplyDeleteFor you lovers of Maxi-dresses, this may be for you. I think it is WAY TOO LONG, but that's just me. Love the fabric it comes in, though...J. Crew jersey dresses are awesome.
Have a nice night, you all!
For those interested in the Grad corsage top but wish it came in another color, I found it in-store in a pretty purple color that looks to be the same as the Poplin Brynn dress. If you are interested, I have a pic on my blog: Lilac Cupcake.
ReplyDeleteDoes anyone own the Gayle Patent Leather Heels? Do they run TTS? I usually wear an 8 in JC although I had to size up in the Cates & the Belinda.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the color of the top. Wow, it is not just a bit wrinkly but a lot! I know that is a pass for me being a teacher I need no fuss clothes but at least I know now so thanks again!
ReplyDeleteIt does almost seem like a neutral purple...kind of washed out that won't work with my skin tone. Wish it came in a jewel tone!

ReplyDeleteGood morning. Site has been updated for today ... 830 items in sale, some good popbacks.
ReplyDeleteOT, but looks as if today may be the day that CBS This Morning will be airing the piece on J. Crew and Mickey Drexler (unless they change schedule for breaking news or something). It starts here (MI) in 5 minutes...
ReplyDeleteAnn, thanks for the heads up!Yes, the Mickey interview is finally airing today.
ReplyDeleteSunday:
ReplyDeleteJCrew & Drexler on CBS Sunday morning right now!
does anyone know how the goldwyn dress fits? A line or straight skirt? Hard to tell from the model. TIA!!
ReplyDeleteHi Alexis, have you seen this interview with Jenna& http://www.ictmag.info/politics/rachel-strugatz-j-crews-jenna-lyons-see-whats-in-her-office-photos/
ReplyDeleteThat article pretty ballerina posted is a bit strange, it almost seems like it was put through a translation program and no one edited it after. Look what word they are using for love (EEEEKS!)
ReplyDeleteJust wanted to let you all know that Jenna Lyons is featured in the August issue of Town & Country on page 31.

ReplyDeleteThey really have some weird technical difficulties. I recently tried to return 3 online items in a store. They were from the same order but shipped separately so they had to be returned separately. Two went through fine, but one had to be "reprocessed" the next day. I left the store without the $100+ item, without a return credit recipt, and without the shipping slip. I was a little nervous, but two days later, the appropriate papers were mailed to me. Huh?
ReplyDeleteIf you look under "Wear-to-Work" there are some new blouses that have been styled with the suiting pieces. A new tee and cardi with the Gabardine pencil skirt (96261); a new printed silk blouse under Wool Gabardine two button jacket (96273). There are others.
ReplyDeleteAlso a new periwinkle colored Jackie
ReplyDeleteHey JCAs, the LA Times "Image" section ran a cover story on Jenna (I had no idea she was a southern CA native):
ReplyDeletehttp://www.latimes.com/features/lifestyle/la-ig-jcrew12-2009jul12,0,7187259.story
Nothing super new (and that same old butt lifting photo we've discussed a million times) but still interesting.
Susan, that tee may be the same tee I saw in Real Simple's July issue. Hmm...if I get the time today I will take a photo of it and send it to Alexis. Pretty, pretty tee...definitely one I will want to order! Thanks for the heads-up!
ReplyDeleteHi Dina,
ReplyDeleteI love that tee too, as well as the new rose tee that you posted about.. Makes me glad that I held out on summer tees :) I think the fall line will be marvelous.
Hipslung jeans fans: the JC outlets appear to have gotten them in stock. Took a slight detour on the way home from a weekend trip today ... outlet was well-stocked with jeans and versions of other past-season B&M items ... Lydia camis, Kelly shirts, and sale section was 30% off. A nice surprise.
ReplyDeleteJCK, The same thing has happened to me twice in the past. The SA's processed the return the following day and mailed me the receipt. Plus, I checked online the next day and could see they had processed the return before I ever received the receipt in the mail. The SA's didn't know why it happened but it seemed to be a problem they were familiar with.
ReplyDeleteSorry for OT:
ReplyDeleteTo J.Crew IT person
I found an error on the J.Crew web site.
Solid antique-ruffle top (item 17208)
This top is supposed to be a sleeveless blouse, but three pictures below the description are the pictures of Cotton Marrakesh top which has sleeves.
Could you please fix it if you read this blog? Thank you in advance.
