  3. Not really a vent, but I'm just feeling rather uninspired by a lot of the latest designs. Anyone else? I miss the better quality, preppier J.Crew.

    1. Agree Heather. I don't know if it's a case of "has the world changed or have I?". The plunging quality at JC has been the biggest turn-off, and I really miss the "classic with a twist" that they used to do so well. Also the world is an entirely different and more casual place than it was 2.5 years ago and I don't love the JC take on "casual" (it's more suited to a college dorm room). People have predicted a "return to dressing up" but I haven't seen it yet. My life has never been one where I wear a lot of dressy things or got to wear nice office clothes but I so dearly miss the elevated basics JC used to have.

    2. It’s not you it’s the Crew! The women’s stuff is wretched right now… the colors, the styles, the prints, the fabrics, I don’t find any of it appealing. JCrew used to be a store that everyone no matter their size, shape or age could find something that they could feel good in. I miss all those special details, embroidery, contrast stitching, statement buttons, beading, etc. that made JCrew pieces special. The current design team seems to only want to design for the young slim and braless. I get that that the current trends aren’t really age or curve friendly but other retailers still manage to turn out a few well cut options that most would feel good in.

There are actually a few men’s pieces that have caught my eye. How has the men’s line managed to stay so consistent with the brand over the years despite changes to the design team? I wish they would use some of the men’s shirting fabrics/prints on the woman’s side.
