I received the Citywalk Lugsole Lace-Up Boot in Leather (Item NB948) in the rusted burgundy color. I love them! They remind me of Doc Martens but they're not clunky. The leather was surprisingly soft. Normally higher boots are uncomfortable where they hit my calves but these seem fine (I haven't worn them out yet, just tried on without socks). I was worried about the length based on other boots I've tried from Madewell this fall, but I think they're fine. They zip in the back, which I normally hate, but the zippers are covered with a soft leather panel so they shouldn't rub on the heels. They're easy to put on because of the back zips and you can adjust tightness with the laces.
ReplyDeleteThese are from Madewell, not J. Crew, sorry I forgot to mention that.
DeleteSaw an email for new arrivals. I’ve looked through the assortment a couple of times and there’s nothing I would order. Typically find at least a few items. Rollout is small, so I’ll see what’s in the next launch.
ReplyDeleteWould love to know what others think.
I have a few things in my cart: The montauk belt bag, the the 9" demi crop in Clara wash, the teddie sherpa half zip in ashen quartz color, and the puff-sleeve cotton voile beach dress. I would have bought, but there's no promo so I'll wait for another day.
Delete@Mygoddy, same here absolutely nothing. This casual attire and colors are boring me to death. There was supposed to be resort wear launched today but that’s been delayed. Stylist doesn’t know.
DeleteAgree on all counts. Colors are uninspiring, cuts are unflattering, fabrics are unappealing... Camping gear in pastel (!) colors for end of the year launch? Hm, who came up with this idea? When all else fails, i can always find some shoes or jewelry to consider. But not in this release. Accessories are seriously laughable (ok, may be a nylon bag is handy... I like its functionality and multitude of pockets, but could i see myself using it in the office or even on weekends? Not sure). And jewelry was absolutely pitiful. These pieces will go straight to sale. Paper-clip necklace... - tempting, anyone?
Delete@Lynn, yes, I was primed for the resort collection, per your post. I looked at the new arrivals this morning and thought it was more of the "I give up collection." Clothes for being warm and comfortable, but not much else. I was afraid this was their "re-imagined resort," you know, like those scratchy re-imagined fabrics.
Delete@MaryG, I give up. Even with the pandemic nearing 2 years there’s no excuse for selling such drab, shapeless and mundane apparel. If anything, they should have come out with bright, vibrant colors to cheer shoppers up. For many it was unfortunate and depressing in some areas of the U. S. and other parts of the world where nobody could barely exit their homes. People working from home in PJ’s and ugly loungewear is not only absurd but depressing. As far as your comment which I love, I don’t want hiking boots, baggy scratchy apparel, oversized or cropped everything etc. We may as well dig a hole hibernate. Lastly, all the tweenish models, overweight and underweight with many looking so unhealthy. Come on JCrew. At least put some models who are adults out there and cater to your core shoppers. Until the company starts bringing back nicer items no more shopping for me.
DeleteNothing for me either, but I’m still looking to buy holiday items on sale. 😜 no interest in whatever today’s release was at all.
DeleteEverything Lynn said--100% agree. It is a very sad little array. Good one, Mary G. It is definitely an "I've given up" assortment. Depressing. I don't want anything of that for free.
DeleteI'm beginning to feel like we've all missed some sort of memo. Case in point--I went out to brunch on Sunday at the Kimpton Hotel in town. It's in the gorgeous Art Deco R.J. Reynolds Tobacco headquarters. I had on black pants, Stewart plaid shirt, red cards and sparkly necklace. Our fellow diners might as well have been at IHOP. Hoodies, for Pete's sake. Those of you who live in larger cities and hopefully move in more socially exalted circles, please assure me that people still dress up somewhere in the universe for brunch. Even if I can't participate, I'd love knowing that somewhere people still look great at Sunday brunches.
DeleteMaryG…I live in the metro NY area. Last Thurs for my birthday we went to a nice restaurant, the type of place you need to book reservations well in advance, no walk ins… a GROWN MAN came in wearing a hoodie, athletic shorts and sneakers. WTF. Most other patrons were well dressed. What’s wrong with people, this wasn’t fast food. I have no issue with nice jeans and a blazer type of look but this was ridiculous. Athletic shorts????
Delete@SuzHas Oh no, sounds like the shorts thing has migrated North, then. I would have thought the cold weather would discourage it up there. I have a snarky male friend (who was with me at brunch) who will go up to people at parties wearing shorts and say, "What? You didn't care enough to put on a pair of pants?" He gets away with saying it without being punched in the mouth. I think dressing up makes an occasion feel more special.
DeleteTotally agree! The fact that it was December and they were sloppy athletic shorts made it even weirder. In the summer if it’s really hot I can see guys wearing long chino type shorts with a polo shirt but this was not that at all.
DeleteI give them a pass for the theme of this rollout. Maybe it was intentional, but supply chain issues may have delayed some things. Maybe some of this stuff was supposed to launch in summer.
DeleteMary G: I'm in Virginia and not in a major metro area. No matter where I go, it seems that I continue to witness the slobification of all places and most venues. The one exception has been at the Union League in Philadelphia. Before COVID, we went to a yearly event there, and everyone was always dressed very well. They do, however, maintain a dress code--at least they did two years ago. I would hope that they never give up on that.
DeleteIt's sad that even the nicest public places have given up on any standards of dress. It is such a shame because it ruins the scenery and can take away from the occasion.
@MmeJacqueline If the Virginians can't get it together, abandon all hope! I would think the Jefferson Sheraton in Richmond would draw a well-dressed crowd, and I was hoping DC would still maintain some standards. Foos doe raw Union League.
DeleteThat's "good for the Union League." Too much sunlight streaming into my home office early in the morning makes for blurry eyes.
DeleteI like the montauk belt bag too. Debating colors. Saw the teddy half zip at my local store last week. The lavender color is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI would probably get the Relaxed-fit flannel shirt in lavender plaid but I already bought that style in a beige gingham a few months ago. It’s a favorite
DeleteIt seems the Montauk belt bags and a few of the other new Montauk bags (backpack and medium) in this rollout are made of nylon. That's what I'm not sure about. I have the medium and large Montauk canvas totes from earlier this year and absolutely love them. Not sure I'll like the nylon, but the colors are fun and nylon might be perfect for the belt bag.
DeleteI like the nylon because you know it will be lightweight. The colors pop on these.
DeleteThe Oslo bucket bag is back, and the red and pinkish ones are $33.99 and $34.99 then with 40% off and 15% off with the SMP3F8JYJ code.
ReplyDeleteI sent one of these to my stepdaughter and she was thrilled. It's a nice size bag.
DeleteDamn, I missed the red one again. I got the clay (pinkish) color and like it. Switched out the strap to make it more unique. Got one for my mom too.
DeleteGot it. Ordered for two of my girls too. Even if they don’t want, I can tell the soft leather will scuff and I won’t mind having a backup.
DeleteMust have gotten mine after you ordered yours, because by the time I check out it said only one was left!
DeleteLet see if they even ship…
DeleteThanks for the heads up. I've never had a bucket bag but I have the smaller version of this bag and it's very nice, and for the price it's worth seeing if I'll like the deeper bag.
DeleteBoth colors are (appear to be) available right now.
DeleteNorthPark store has several of the red Oslo bags.
