Seek & Find: Will you visit J.Crew this Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopping by a J.Crew store this weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

P.S. I noticed that many of you have already been reporting sale items (and in which stores) in other posts which by the way "thank you!" :) I really appreciate how helpful we are for each other!

  1. Browsing online since I need to update my wardrobe and I don’t really understand what J. Crew is doing. They seem to have kept the blah stuff and did away with the things that made them stand out (color and print, and of course, natural fibers).

I have also been checking frequently for coat popbacks. I need to replace my coat but since it’s off season, there is not much to choose from and poshmark prices are really expensive, since I am looking for nwt due to a dry cleaning allergy. If any of you bought a final sale coat that didn’t fit in a size 0 or 2, I’ll gladly take it off your hands.

    1. Magsad/sartorial choices has a cream lady day coat NWT size 0 on IG but it’s $250 I think.

My coats are all a little bigger otherwise I’d let you know. I don’t Dry clean, I steam them and spot clean.

  2. I stopped into my local store with my daughters for a little day date. I didn’t look through much of the women’s section as I find the current offerings very uninspiring. I did see an all cotton cable sweater that looked nice. Came home and saw the length is 20”. Absurdly cropped! The clearance section for the littles was a nice mix and I picked up some items for my youngest in the next biggest size (with 3 girls I had hoped to have hand me downs for the youngest but every time we open a box of the next size, there isn’t much that is worth saving, unfortunately). Clearance was 50% off but final sale. No biggie for kids clothes in my house.

  3. I stopped in to return a sweater (possibly that same sweater you're referring to Liz - the relaxed fit cable knit sweater) I had bought it a few weeks ago, tags are still on (really more of a spring sweater imo) so back it goes and I'll wait for a better sale. It is short but looked cute with high waisted jeans. The warm clay is more of a dusty pink in person.

Anyway, I kept tunnel vision and did not browse but did notice that my store is 60% off final sale.

  4. I just put on a jcrew ratti sundress that I bought last summer but am wearing for the first time, and was thinking -- last summer there were SO many pretty dresses (and I bought a lot of them). I have not bought one summer item this year -- I had a positive balance on my JC credit card, so I did pick up some cashmere boyfriends and zip hoodies (love those) during that last big sale, but that has been it, in the last couple of months.

In other news, WSJ noted that Mickey Drexler is heading to his son's store, Alex Mill. I had not heard of it before but will definitely check it out. If any of you have experience with it, what are your thoughts?

    1. Actually I just did a quick look at the alex mill website and it looks pretty much like Everlane -- basics, but probably good basics. I have no need for literally any basic! What I love best about JC are its colors and prints.

    2. Alex Mill is always in my Facebook feed, and you're right that it looks very basic.

J.Crew is very dull this summer. I don't need anything, but it's rather sad to see so much drabness. If this is some new direction, then I don't have much hope for their future.

I wore one of JC's Drake's print scarves today--all silk, made in Italy, with hand-rolled edges. That's the type of merchandise I miss from them in addition to the wonderful Italian made shoes (all leather, including the soles).

      Those were the days....

    3. I have a few Alex Mill pieces from last year.
I got a cashmere wool sweater that I loved but the red was garishly bright. Retail was $200—I got it on sale and ended up selling it. It was also very boxy.
I tried several pants that I didn’t love and returned them, also tried a few jumpsuits and felt like a mechanic.
I also loved the linen pull on pants last year, which I mentioned, but this year I’m trying to wear real clothes that fit my body a bit better.
My two favorite pieces I wear all the time are a sweater blazer and longer sweater coat. They are both cotton and wool with sleeves that are long enough and big pockets, plus a button at the neck and button closure. They are much nicer than the crew sweater blazers I’ve tried.
I think some of their cotton poplin shirts and shirt dresses look nice and I thought their boy pants, vest and blazer were a cute look, they have several fabrics and colors. What’s odd to me is they don’t really make much that’s black. Their colors are pretty though, but a little brighter than I usually wear.
I also think it’s a bit expensive. They’re quite a bit more expensive than Everlane and they seem to have stopped selling sale on their website.

    4. Last month there was an Alex Mill Sale (Prive or Clothingline) in NY. I didn't go since in my experience, prices aren't really low at these "sample sales".

  5. Stopped in the Lexington, KY store today as it’s my closest one nowadays. They still had clearance items from when I was last there in April (and at the same price). There was quite a bit of clearance as it extended literally from the front to the back of the store. I got AQ383 for myself for $10, some boat shorts for my son, and ordered two pairs of shorts for my husband. I didn’t love any of the girls things. What drives me crazy ab the girls items in particular is the colors of the separates are all different. There must be 4 different “pinks” between the tees and shorts and none of them coordinate.

  6. I mentioned the Nordstrom anniversary sale and all the IG Influencers posting their picks and wishlist. Well for sh!ts and giggles I decided to look at shoes. I’ve been thinking of replacing my Sperry (for jcrew) boots I got 5/6 years ago. I have some tall hunter boots but they’re not great for walking. I noticed some hunter low/Chelsea rain boots on presale so I wish listed them, then I found what looks to be the same boots on Nordstrom rack for less so I grabbed them.

  7. I haven’t had the desire to visit a mall in some time. I’ve even been sending my returns back. Simply do not want to spend the time doing it.

Received the smocked puff sleeve linen top AY671. Really had to stalk this one to get it for $40. Very happy. I followed reviews and sized down to XXS. The material is lovely, the sleeves and neck are not tight, and the length is good. I originally bought white, but it got canceled. I just wanted any so I purchased olive. Ordered white AGAIN, which has yet to ship. Would recommend this one if you are on the fence.

  8. Received the last of my recent orders. Mostly positive, pleasantly surprised.

My mom and I both like the canvas sporty strap sandals. AX918

Bikini bottom B6894 and surf hipster bikini bottom B8056. I’ve been sizing up to a small in bikini bottoms and for my long torso that’s the right call. I like the look of the surf hipster a little better but because my torso is long it’s a little lower on my butt than I’m comfortable with in public. I’m sticking with the bikini bottom. I prefer the cut of these to Everlane which was a little too cheeky for my liking.

Tie waist seaside pant in linen blend, AN013 black, XS. The waist is loose but I don’t think I’d want to size down. They fit very similar to the model wearing the black, maybe a little looser. The leg has a slight flare at the hem from some angles so I’m steaming them. They’re a solid summer pant option. I tried with a cotton tank, light weight sweater and sneakers and linen button down/popover and sandals. I even threw on my linen parke blazer to try. My preference would be either a slimmer ankle or drapey wide leg but these are ok. Great for a warm weather vacation too…so even if I don’t wear them a ton they will be part of my “vacation capsule.” 😆 I could totally see wearing these on the plane with a tshirt, my linen blazer and a scarf then for casual dinners, lounging after dinner or even over a bathing suit…hopefully someday soon.

Square scarf in Liberty print, Aj376 sunset pink multi. Pretty but more orange than I was expecting. It’s ok but I thought the sunset would be more of the orangey red and it’s just orange.

Saturday sneakers with Liberty trim, AW563. The extra laces are red but the pattern is really more pink. I don’t dislike but they run a bit long on me, quite a bit longer than my madewell white sneakers in the same size.

  9. One more for the leather pants people…coincidentally my mom just told me she saw leather culottes at TJmaxx, an F brand. I looked online and saw them, Frame. Her size (we think), on clearance for 180. (Same ones are much more on net a porter.) I told her to run back and get them. She thinks it’s too much money but I told her if they are flattering she can wear them all the time and feel good about herself, rather than buying ten pairs of garbage leggings. I hope she gets them!
She told me her TJ had quite a few leather pants on clearance so I will get the scoop tomorrow when she goes back.

  11. Margot cardigan arrived. I am 5-2, about 100 pounds, 30D. I took an XS. Very pretty color(pale yellow) - it's long and loose, which is fine. Didn't do the XXS because I've been burned in the past by tight arms. Merino is lovely. Whole sweater is lovely but just too darn big for me. Alas

  12. Dear beloved JCAs, has anyone heard of Misha Nonoo? I ran across the website one day when I had too much free time on my hands and searching the WWW for a reasonably priced perfect white button-down shirt. The prices are a little high for my mom-of-2,WFH lifestyle but the clothes look quite nice.

    3. I saw! The prices are really no more higher than other sites that I peruse (i.e. window shop!!) but I really just wanted a first hand accout before taking a leap. I love that husband shirt and the hooded bodysuit (the final sale is everywhere!)

    4. I went to her sample sale (actual samples, at her showroom) in NYC ages ago (pre Meghan), and her sizing runs small (euro sizes). The quality and work are excellent. I still have my pieces from the sample sale, even though I can’t fit them anymore because they’re so nice.

    5. The things I was looking at are made to order, it seems, but based on their size chart. Some of the pieces do look nicely cut.
