"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

If you have recently experienced a frustrating situation with J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including poor experiences with purchases & orders, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. Vent: this has happened to be multiple times that random sizes switch when I add things to cart. I just noticed a bikini bottom I chose in size small was in my cart in 2X.

Not really a vent, but I could really use another pair of black linen pants. My regent linen trousers I loved which were loose (so I ordered a size down on poshmark) seem to have “shrunk” and I gave the others to my daughter. (I don’t really know if they shrunk, I did gain an inch).
I am wondering about the tie-waist seaside pant in linen blend. It seems there may be some at my store so I’m taking the time this afternoon to do some returns at Gap and Lululemon and walk the mall in this brutal heat. My favorite loose linen pants, the Joie Erlette style, are great but sooo loose and casual. I’d like something a little neater I can wear with my linen tops.

    2. My store only had a few of the tie waist seaside pants in larger sizes. I found a medium but it was too big and asked an associate. She told me at their sales meetings they are telling associates that size exchanges will be permitted at this store, no refunds or returns though.
I did like the pants. I tried the olive color but I want the black. Considering them.

    3. What does the following mean? They won’t accept returns at their store in the future?

    4. I should have been more clear—I took our conversation out of context related to returns or exchanges of FINAL SALE merchandise.

A store associate told me that this store will allow SIZE EXCHANGES for final sale items. Final sale items cannot be returned for refund or credit.

There is no change to the return policy for non—final sale merchandise.

      Kate what is awful?

    5. Okay.
By the way, I bought AV390, the tall Hayden kickout crop pant in stretch linen. I think the quality is great but I had to go up a size.

    6. ST I love the kick crop on others but it is not right for my proportions. Too tight on my thighs! If I size up from the crotch up is too big. My mom liked those too though!

    7. @ Suz Haz. I guess I never had issues with returns until last week. They got rid of price adjustment like 2 yrs ago. So I do a lot of returns because of that. I think it’s a terrible policy! They will lose buissnes that way. So that’s why I think it’s awful on my end... lol
Big change and not a good one 😂

    8. Kate, Not disagreeing with you there, I just wasn’t sure what specifically you were referencing.
I’m definitely shopping less with these changes. I do appreciate the associate telling me I could exchange sizes on final sale items, but fit is still questionable even at different sizes so I’m not willing to spend much to have something I don’t love.
I got lucky last summer, I was able to return or sell pants I ended up not loving but it doesn’t always work out that way.

    9. Agree and stores have 20% of inventory. So even a size change would be almost impossible!

    10. They would have to be ordered, they don’t have either size in stock!

    11. Well it’s all not what we are used to and not good customer service! All high end stores allow returns! Jcrew is getting to be Walmart, and even they have great return policy lol

    12. It’s not what long time clients expect, for sure, and I can’t imagine it will help a faltering business.
