Sought & Found: Did you visit J.Crew this {past} Weekend?

This is the weekly "sale watch" post, to help each other find sale items at our various local J.Crew stores. ;)

If you are stopped by a J.Crew store this past weekend to see what's available (if anything!) in the SALE, or to see some NEW ARRIVALS {sigh!} in person, maybe you might be willing to share that with us in this post. In particular, if you could share with us a few of the noteworthy items that are available, at what prices, and potential sizes the store is carrying (as well as the store location)- that would be fantastic!

Also, please let us know if your local store was/ is carrying an additional percent off sale. Thanks in advance!!! :)

    1. I asked J.Crew today (on Insta) when the wish list will be back. They said, "No news on this just yet, but recommend checking your inbox for any updates." Helpful.

  3. Seriously! Wishlist!
Some very cute things and glad to see they got the black watch stuff out early enough this year that hopefully people can get them in time for holiday parties. Also glad to see a few pretty prints and not so much velvet. I can start to see looks instead of just pieces though a style guide would really help to see everything together. Anyone know if they’re doing a holiday one this year (or anymore)?
Is this still stuff from Joanna the Anthro designer since Chris Benzs stuff starts in the spring?

    1. eeps: According to some @jcrew responses on instagram they said there would be no holiday catalog this year. There was also a post with some 2020 holiday mood boards from Chris Benz that look promising. Crushed that there will be no holiday style guide! I thought that Jcrew was wanting to be more relevant with the blogger party near fashion week, but the lack of catalog will make them slip more from shopper’s minds in my opinion.

    2. @shoppingcelle Saw that too and was bummed! Really a missed opportunity for J Crew.

    3. Boo.. re no holiday catalog. If there’s one time a year for any retailer to put out a catalog...
For some reason I thought holiday 2020 meant Nov/Dec 2020? As in a year from now? Since he started with the spring 2020 collection.

  4. There are a few things I like but some things I’m just done with already. I had wanted a black pleated midi skirt but they didn’t offer black when the recent version came out. Found one at Nordstrom instead, tried it and realized it was more fussy for me than I want. Now, maybe I’ll end up getting it but it would be on sale.
I think the plaid and glitter shoes are all fun but I’m pretty set with both.
Some of the new black pants for holiday look good but I splurged on a leather pair which will take me basically everywhere this season.
I’m curious about this harvest red. Is it orangey red, more brown? How is it different than the bright cerise? The photography for some of the pieces shows varying colors. Is it neon bright?
I like the expanded range of Nordic boots. The white Colorblock, the black with the crepe sole, even the gold. Nothing better than having warm feet during cold weather. They’re practical and fun, but I have a pair from last year.

    1. I’m also curious about harvest red, having been burned by all the variations of cerise in the past.
Glitter soles are cute until you wear them, and then all I can think about is the grime and dirt stuck to the glitter and also leaving a trail of glitter on carpet.
They’re offering the lace mock neck top in other colors. The previous version in blue is one of my favorite JC tops - certainly one of the prettiest tops I own. I’m eyeing that blush color this season.
I’m so done with excessive ruffles and florals. The prairie look never appealed to me and seems out of season with holiday looks (unless its 1982). No Liberty items for me this rollout.
The collection tiered RattI maxi dress is very pretty but I question the timing of a strappy cotton maxi dress during winter. Wouldn’t it get more use now in silk? Or with sleeves?

    2. I meant separate glitter shoes and plaid shoes, but I totally see your point re the glitter soles.

    3. eeps, that new Liberty ruffled shirt gave me a headache just looking at it.

  5. I’m also glad to see the start of the holiday looks. Gold jacquard in the top and pants is really pretty. Always love to see the plaids and sparkle for holiday. Double cashmere pooover is back in navy and gray. I have the camel version and love it. Ordered tartan plaid kitten boots. Hope they work since they would be a fun option for holiday season. Had a coupon to stack, so they were 50% off. Optimistic about the rest of the holiday roll out.

  6. I was happy to see the new arrivals and the holiday pieces. I was really hoping for the return of the wish list. At this point I'm just hoping the wish list comes back.

  7. They are back with their double faced cashmere tunic...yay! Hope see plain tops. I like the double
Surge skirt with bow (g8456) and the wool shirt (ag141). Skirt eligible for Promo and shirt is not. But the skirt is due to ship 11/29.... probably keep watching for now!

  8. Nothing impressive to me. Ratti wasn't done in silk shirts and run a little too short. For those looking for beautiful cashmere and silk check out this Italian Company. Beautiful classic pieces. Purchased a few items. Here’s a link shopravella.com.

  10. Hi Suz and silver_lining, so nice to hear from you! Hope you’re all enjoying shopping these days. It’s been difficult trying to find nice Jcrew pieces these days as I posted earlier. Last items purchased were the Ratti Kaleidoscope Print boyshirt which is beautiful and everyone was commenting from Monaco to Italy France and Turkey:) I also purchased the Boyfriend Tweed Oversized Blazer in the Sapphire. Was disappointed the blue wasn’t deeper as shown online. Too bad got a good deal on the item but it’s going back. I’m into Red now and Suz I purchased those Red Captoe Boots too. You always look cute in your boots:) They’re really cute. As I mentioned I really love the cashmere and silk line from Italy, it’s gorgeous & the quality is top notch, pricing I consider good. Not crazy about Jcrew’s shoes anymore they’ve skimped. Red, Greens and Blues are dominating in Europe so Jcrew is following the trend at least. Oh I purchased a Neon Emerald Everyday Cashmere sweater from Jcrew and must admit for this item is was fairly soft. I wanted a bright green sweater and it fit the bill. If you have any other suggestions please post. I haven’t had much time to check everything Jcrew out. Thanks again and it made my day hearing from you xxx

    1. Lynn, I ended up selling my red boots! I didn’t like them with black pants and they felt too loud with my jeans. I have lots of red shoes I wear but these ended up not working as well for me. Luckily I still have the black and the snakeskin from last year.

    2. Hi Lynn! I have the patent red cap toe boots & happen to love loud shoes. I was thinking about you when I found a new 2008 Collection Astor print wool jacket. In fact I wore it today. My huband (and lots of other people all day) is a fan.

    3. Hi pbanos, so nice to hear from you!! Those red boots are so delightful I’m with you the “loud shoes and boots”! Oh that Astor print is beautiful!!! I love the name. Wear it with a lot happiness and good health. Hope you’re well these days.

    4. Great to see you posting Lynn. Many of us have wondered where you have been hiding! Thanks for the update on what you have been buying and what is popular in Europe.

    5. Lynn you are spot on re JC cashmere and shoes. Actually I have not had any luck with any JC sweaters except Tippis and I dont need anymore. I also started a moratorium on JC shoes - ever since they stopped making Janeys I haven’t found a pair or style that doesn’t pinch in the toes and give me blisters in the back. Or the leather gives up after a year. I just tossed two pairs of leather Gemmas.

    6. The gemmas were problematic for me too. I tend to have the opposite problem of most people. I have to size down in pointy shoes otherwise they fall off my feet. After a few wears the toes scuffed and they fell off my feet anyway.

    7. Hi Lynn, just wanted to chime in and say that it’s great to see you back on the blog!

  11. What is going on with petite sizes? None of the new arrival shirts are available in petites! No order for me...

  12. @Suz, Oh too bad, you could have pulled that look off. The only thing is I’m a size 10 in shoes and they scream “loud” because of the length. That’s fine with me, I like to rock the boat at times. Congrats though in selling them. Any idea for pants these days? Not into lace, more classic style wide leg but not too wide. Just looking at the models on the Jcrew website the pants look too short. What’s your take?

    1. Mine were 8.5/9 and my youngest says my legs are “not thick” (which is NOT a positive to her) so as much as I also love loud shoes I think that was the issue. They elongate the foot as well.

I’ve had good luck with my Everlane pants. They have a new full length wide leg but I prefer the slightly cropped length of the others I have. They have other styles being released soon. (And honestly, their high rise authentic stretch jeans in the deep indigo—I got tall length— look amazing. I don’t need them but I’m tempted to get the black.) super comfortable and the proportions work better for me than my Jcrew toothpicks.
Re Jcrew I think the Frankie pant has potential. The twill was light but it’s now available in wool and corduroy. I know you’re tall though so double check the inseam. I haven’t had too much luck with JCREW pants recently though I did like the Frankie more than I thought I would.

    2. I'm a 10 in shoes too, so my loud shoes are shouting I guess.

Though I'm not tall at 5'7", I've mostly been buying tall length pants as inseams are definitely shrinking. Sometimes that is so I can wear them with heels. There are "full" length pants that now work as a cropped length on me.

I've noticed a trend to shorter full length pants worn with fashion sneakers or flats fully exposed. I mean a length that would have been ridiculed for the last four decades - as my husband says: "Let's have a party and invite your pants on down!"

Last winter and this fall I've paired ankle length wide leg pants with booties (including the aforementioned red ones) and find them easy to wear. I have them short enough to look intentional. Particularly handy to keep hems out of wet leaves or snow. Wouldn't wear with a heel though, as I might do with an even shorter length. I don't mind hand sewing a hem, and it is usually easier to go a bit shorter than longer, though sometimes you can get an extra 1/2 or 3/4 inch out of a generous hem.

    3. I have that problem p...the Camerons are too short to wear with a boot. I'm hoping to let the hem down slightly. They say we would have some snow on the ground on Friday morning here in NJ, I want socks!

      Delete
    4. Cheri, have you tried tall Camerons? I'm 5'1 and I wear the regular Camerons as full-length pants. The petite Camerons fit me like regular Camerons would on an average height person. I've also tried tall Camerons (to see how they look with heels on me) and they were definitely too long for me.

    5. Cheri, definitely try the tall Camerons if they are available. I bought the chino version in the tall size and they fit as ankle length pants on me (5'6 tall). Worth a try . . .

  13. @jan, shoppingcelle, Liz, Monica bono and to others in case I missed someone; thanks so much for the warm welcome. So nice to get feedback from all of you. Thanks Suz for the Everlane pants suggestions, I will order some, pbanos when I proudly wear my red booties I will be thinking of you and cool comments. I tend to be a rebel so I will post what type of reaction if any I receive:)
