I've been wearing J Crew warm weather items I bought out of season last year (heavily discounted on sale!) and I'm really enjoying them. Winners from last year include the tie neck in oxford cloth, campbell blazer with ruffle trim in Liberty Edenham floral, drapey ruffle neck top in various colors and the button front striped skirt. It's a good reminder to me that I should enjoy what I have (and rarely wear)...
ReplyDeleteI read in an article that J. Crew is doing a complete overhaul for fall. Anyone see this or have more details?
ReplyDeleteIs this the article you're referring to? Second-to-last paragraph: "It will also create a loyalty program later this year, and in September, the company is planning a full “relaunch” of the brand." https://qz.com/1293575/j-crews-madewell-denim-brand-has-given-it-a-much-needed-lift/
DeleteI hope no more poly and Mercantile?
DeleteJSR - I hope that’s what they mean.
DeleteOh dear. I have about given up on JC. Then I saw the company’s IG post featuring the rainbow-themed LOVE FIRST tees. I first thought it was a crass grab for sales BUT THEN I READ SOME OF THE HATEFUL COMMENTS. I’m not here to debate the theology of a teeshirt. MY REACTION WAS OH DRAT NOW I HAVE TO SPEND SOME MORE MONEY AT J.CREW JUST WHEN I THOUGHT I WAS DONE.
ReplyDeleteMy problems with word tees - English or otherwise - have always related to fundamentals of grammar, spelling and usage. And age-appropriateness, I no longer take the middles to F21 after some serious whining over a tee that read “Ask me why I’m dangerous..” Cute in size 2T - maybe. In a Girls’ 12 ? Not going there.
And I’m a big fan of the WINE tees. Own all 3, with back-ups. I don’t want to be a billboard, but maybe some BREAD tees to alternate with them would not go amiss.
Hate is never in good taste. Maybe I’ll allow myself a word tee after all. How about WHO IS MY NEIGHBOR ?
What kind of a world do we live in? I didn't really pay too much attention to the IG feed but just read some of it and I want to first cry, then order a "Love first" shirt for each member in my immediate family. I don't even wear graphic tees but come on. ๐ญ
DeleteI agree 100%. I am not a graphic tee person as a RULE but I want to own this, wear this and order for others.
Deletei saw that some people had an issue with the boy's "i'm a feminist too" shirt as well.
Deletesome people are just trolls and have nothing better to do with their lives.
I love your idea for a BREAD tee. I only wear word tees as pajamas but I'd buy a BAGUETTE OLIVE RYE tee so fast.
DeletePS, WFF I think the slogan "Hate is never in good taste" is perfect.

DeleteI had good success with a handful of J.Crew items this month, which I reviewed on my blog.
ReplyDeleteI received my Jcrew factory shorts. The scallop print ones are winners. Actually much higher quality at first glance than the post card print sorts from last year which unraveled immediately. The seams are finished more securely and the fabric is more sturdy. I ordered these in black and white gingham and the owl print which looks like a black/charcoal and off white leopard effect pattern. I like these better than both the retail shorts I bought this season and might return the gingham with the eyelet trim. They're cute but the fabric is much flimsier. I'm annoyed I didn't order these in solid black because the solid black ones I did order are terrible—the jacquard print pull on. The cut is off and the finishing is already unraveling. I'm on the fence about the 4" in the ladybug print. The fit isn't as flattering and the fabric is a little flimsy. Also not sure about the chambray pull on. NOT bad for what they are but not great.
