"Looking to VENT" with J.Crew

This is the weekly "Looking to VENT with J.Crew" post, a place to share our not-so-stellar experiences with J.Crew.

  2. I can't believe most holiday items did not go to clearance after Christmas...The sales/promos were better before Christmas so glad I got some stuff then.

    1. I feel like they are again missing the boat as many other retailers did markdowns and have a bigger % off.

    2. Agreed. Also not sure why the % off full-price merch is a "secret" (code emailed and not shown on the site). Isn't the goal to move merchandise?

  3. Drake's popover will not ship for me as it's now sold out. Other items I want are either sold out as well or excluded from promo. So many items more expensive than previously. Truly nothing left to get right now. Looking on eBay.

  4. As mentioned elsewhere, it's pretty crazy that every other retailer has massive post-holiday discounts and Crew is trying to get by with 30% off. Maybe they are waiting for returns to come in first.

    I went today to make a return and line was super long. We walked through and looked in the sale section, really nothing too interesting. Hit the store for the return in the way back and the line moved super quick, it seemed like most people on line were makingreturns.

  5. I’m putting off returns for a few days - I’m dispirited. I’m not liking the strange series of promos, the exclusions, the understocking of items that might interest me - shopping the website is like an annoying form of web gambling. And the atmosphere in the stores is desperate.

  6. I have exactly five days until my shopping ban begins and multiple gift cards in hand. Everything I am even remotely interested in is either 1) excluded from the latest lame promo, 2) sold out, or 3) gets awful reviews/didn’t pass muster when I saw/tried in store.

    At a time when retailers have to be at the top of their game to stay in business and retain customers, J Crew insists on driving them away.

    1. I don't count my gift cards from xmas in my jan/feb shopping moritorium. its my goal to see if I keep them until spring.

  8. Drake's Popover Horserider Blouse is now available in a variety of sizes. Last night i spoke with a vps and was given the wrong measurements as well as online in a chat session. Evidently they have new information and they describe the blouse as very roomy far different than what I was initially given. The new info provided was just given to a few minutes ago at 7 am. This is crazy, misinformation, showing out of stock, being told it's out of stock and a limited supply and now this. Ugh

  9. I just saw that the topcoat in double leopard had popped back in a size four, the one I wanted. But when I clicked on the size and added tried to add it to my shopping bag it wasn't in stock.
    Grrr.

  10. Received $25 off coupon for birthday which can't be combined with their sale offer. This happened before too- rewards offers couldn't be combined with online offers. In store, however, they honored it for my purchase.
