  2. So sad about JCrew's bathing suits lately. They used to fit so well and have such nice lining. Now they are cut weird, the sizing is way off and the fabric is definitely not as nice as it used to be even just 5 years ago. The fabric (at least for the heritage collection) used to be much softer. The colors are still gorgeous though. :/

    1. ITA, I used to buy a lot of J.Crew swim because the quality and fit was always consistent but lately I can't find the right sizes and the fabrics are nowhere near as nice. I have given up trying.

  3. I am a poor student but I save my pennies for J Crew and I love their shorts so much. When I went into the store I was never helped and in fact I was ignored. I ended up just ordering shorts online because everyone was so freaking rude in the store.

  4. Does anyone have a cure for stretched out minnie pants? I'm close to throwing them in the dryer a few minutes and seeing what happens. They're barely wearable at this point.

    1. They will shrink up in the dryer, just don't leave them in for the whole time because they will end up teeny tiny.

    2. You might want to turn them inside-out if you put them in the dryer, if they are a dark color. I wouldn't put them in for very long.

    3. I always wash (hand wash cycle) and either line dry or put in the dryer at low heat and it certainly makes them tighter but alas they always stretch back out I find. HTH

  6. I was trying to place an online order yesterday and my cart was being glitchy and I was being charged a crazy amount for shipping as well as the final cost for the order wasn't adding up. I tried placing the order over the phone and told the CS rep that I was having issues ordering online. She went on and said that the promotion was online only and she would add the promo discount as a ONE TIME courtesy. Wtf? If a customer is having a problem ordering online due to the website having issues why should Jcrew try to make it seem like I'M the one causing the problem? Have some empathy and provide the discount, no remarks needed. Improve the freakin'skateboard online checkout and quit it with the "one time courtesy" bs!!! Sorry, major venting here...

  7. I called to have the price of a sale item that I've ordered that is waitlisted adjusted to the 30% off price; the CS hemmed and hawed, then gave me a spiel about how she saw that I had asked them to honor adjustments on past orders before (!), and that that was against their policy, but she would do it just this once--grr!! Either do it or don't, but please don't treat me like a child and pretend that I should be grateful to J Crew for taking my money.

    1. well, this probably isn't what you want to hear, but she DIDN'T have to apply the promo, and it is against policy...i get your side, but just playing devil's advocate

  9. I am having an issue with the student discount in terms of if yes or no it is applied to sale items.

I go to the Columbus (Easton) store at least once a week on my way home from my internship. Starting I would say two weeks ago, I feel like I always get in an uncomfortable tiff with the associates because they don't let me pair it up with the 30% sale items. I've been having them 'stack' the deal for about a year now and yet out of the blue they are like you can't do that anymore! I went to the Cleveland (Beachwood) location over the weekend and they had no problem 'stacking' my discounts!

I placed an order on the phone for a necklace this afternoon at their store and I had the (different then who I checked out with) associate ask them if I would be able to use my student discount. And surprise, surprise! I was allowed to.

Lastly, I called the J. Crew CS and they said that it's up to the associate's discretion if they want to 'stack' the deals.

I am so upset with the inconsistency! :(

    Anyone have the same issues?

    1. 9dada5be-bb4d-11e1-925b-000bcdcb5194: The student and educator discounts can definitely be applied with the extra % off promos, so whoever told you they cannot is mistaken. I have verified the policy numerous times with Mickey Drexler's assistant, the last time being just last evening, as the J.Crew in Tampa told me it couldn't when I was in there yesterday. I told the manager I thought she was mistaken and she allowed it to be combined 'as a one time courtesy', but she was indeed wrong about it, and should have allowed it to be combined to begin with. I did call her last evening to let her know that I had once again verified it, so hopefully any JCAs that frequent or visit that store will now get the discounts combined.

  10. I have had the same issues with stores and the student discount for over 8 years. Nothing new. Just am happy when I get it and if not oh well. It is what it is and I am not going to get upset by the inconsistencies with J.Crew. Just get used to it is my advice.

  11. The black and white enamel ram bangle popped back this morning for $69.99, but it jumped out of my cart when I went to check out. I just wanted to complain about it :p

  12. Just wondering why in the world J.Crew insists on making v-neck t-shirts with such a deep V? I really don't want to wear a cami under a tee when it's 98 degrees and humid. Defeats the point of a tee! I'm giving up...no more tees from J.Crew.

  13. I called the 5th Ave store. When I finally got an SA on the line he refused to take the item number of the shoe I was looking for, just wanted a description, cut me off in mid-sentence and put me on hold for 20 min and never came back. I just hung up which was clearly his intention in The first place. I can't stand rude people!

  14. I haven't purchased from J Crew in awhile and unfortunately I was reminded quickly of the quality issues that discouraged my loyalty.

I took advantage of the sale last week and came home to realize that the shirt I'd purchased at full price was packed badly and the collar was badly misshapen.

The SA was clearly new and clearly trying. That said, it wasn't my issue.

I called JC Customer Service and was told that I could take the shirt to be pressed and JC would reimburse me.

Now, I am busy. I don't need another errand. And definitely not from a situation that was not my doing.

I called customer service again. Same response. And then I was told something about not having access to retail purchase records.

Seriously? The item is for sale at full price and they couldn't make the problem go away by shipping me a new shirt. I understood that I've have to pay for the replacement before I returned the original....

And then my frustration doubled when the hem of the attache dress, fresh from the bag and tags still attached, completely fell out. Really? I can't count on a hem to hold between bag and hanger?

I should confirm that this story does have a happy ending as Christine at the Burlington MA store took care of me completely. She recognized that the issue was not mine and that therefore JC should be responsible for resolving it. THANK YOU!

But still, I had to make three phone calls before I found someone who understands service. She also recognized that my inconvenience began when I had to pick up the phone.

  15. I ordered two of the No. 2 Pencil Skirts in Cotton from the sale... I wore one the other day and the kick-pleat in back tore out and the back seam started to split right above it... first time I wore it! Crazy b/c I was sitting at my office desk all day - hardly doing anything that should make that happen! Has anyone else had this problem? Maybe it was just a sewing defect... or maybe it is designed poorly????

  16. Now, I know that this is a common issue that all JCA's are well-aware of, but I'm really tired of wanting to purchase an item on sale, only to have J.Crew take it offline during their 30% promo sales, and then have it pop back online once the sale is over??!! I mean, come on! I had several items that I wanted to purchase during this recent sale, only to go to the store and use the red phone and be told that the items were COMPLETELY sold out. Apparently not so much, because they magically appeared online this morning! Not cool J.Crew, not cool.

  18. I recently received a pebble dot dress that I planned on wearing to the beach (A pop back that I hadn't noticed when it first came out, I guess.)

When I tried it on, I noticed that my new beach coverup didn't have that "new clothes smell." I saw that the tag was missing when I took it off, and then I realized that the reason my "new" dress didn't have that "new clothes smell" was because it had already been worn to the beach and smelled like Coppertone!

  19. Why in the world does J. Crew continually misrepresent their products on the website? I always find that the colors of the items on the website are DARKER in person! My last order was the worst YET! I ordered the Midrise Toothpick Jeans in Distressed Indigo - the color of the jeans online could NOT have been more off - the jeans were not as faded in person and the wash was MUCH DARKER! I'm so angry and I'm convinced that they do it on purpose. And believe, me - it's not my screen resolution or color - the jeans look COMPLETELY DIFFERENT IN PERSON!
