JCA "Help Style Me!" Weekly Post

This is the weekly "Help Style Me!" post, where we can share items we are having trouble putting outfits together with. Elaine (in this post) says it best, "You know, that thing you bought because you love it and you keep pulling it out and then putting it away without wearing it?"

Please share your J.Crew item (either that you own or are thinking about getting) that you would love help creating an outfit with.

Also, please help out by offering your styling advice. Feel free to include links to your blog (where you incorporated that piece) or to Polyvore (where you showcased an outfit with that piece). Thanks in advance! :)

    1. Looks great, I've also had a lot success with pair to shades of the same color on top and the a contrasting or neutral bottom. My favorite combo is brilliant blue under soft orchid.

  2. I'm wearing my black jcrew dress w/beige embroidery (it came out last summer). I don't know what color cardigan would work with it besides black....thoughts?

    1. Since it's basically a neutral colored dress your choices are endless. Bright colors always are a good choice for summer and J Crew has a wide selection. Go with something that completes your skin coloring and makes your features pop.

    2. I think that's the Mirabel dress? I'm wearing it here: http://chocolateshoesanddebate.blogspot.com/2012/06/quantico-bound.html

with the bouquet cardigan in putty. Also tried it with a jackie in yellow and hot pink which both looked good.

    3. I was going to try something very plain that matched the embroidery color, or else a charcoal-colored Factory Jackie cardigan. I think the black is very faded looking on this dress and looks more charcoal than black to me (my dress is the Factory version that came out this spring, but I think it's the same as the Mirabel). A black cardigan would also work but it might not be my first choice. I'll have to try it with a bright color, I like that idea.

  3. Any styling ideas for the scoopneck blouse in anchors aweigh? It looks great with jeans (dark and white), dark denim pencil skirt, white pencil skirt (well, "Sea Salt"), and white capris. Any ideas for color?

    1. ANY color! It's navy, it's a neutral. My favorites are pink (light or hot), green, and yellow. You can really do ANYTHING though

  5. Just bought the Ella dress in the Medallion Paisley ($30 with the extra 30% and my student discount). It's caught my eye every time I go to the store and the price was too good to pass up but I honestly have no idea what to wear with it. I need ideas for cardigans, jackets, accessories, and shoes. I'm at a loss for what to put with it, but I adore it and the bright orangey-red actually looks really good with my coloring (I'm super pale).

  7. Hey Elizabeth,

Which store did you find the Ella dress in?

    TIA!

    1. Towson Town Mall in Maryland. It was the last one, it's a 4 and normally I wear a 2, but it fit well enough. They had a lot of sale stuff - tons of tees, sweaters, shorts; some skirts; only a few dresses and jackets. It looked like someone who was a size 6 had recently returned a bunch of stuff - many things in that size that I was surprised to find there still.

    2. Thanks so much! I actually ended up finding one at a store in Nevada, luckily! These dresses are hard to come by apparently!
