Haven't Shopped at J.Crew in Awhile {get a gift card & make an appointment with a personal shopper}

"Thanks!" to Mary, Sarah, as well as Misty Lynn (in this post) & Angela (in this post) who let us know that J.Crew is reaching out to several customers with a "we miss you" or "your such a great customer" note and a $25/$50 gift card via snail mail.

A big "thanks!" to Sarah who was kind to share with us a scan of the letter included with the gift card she received (image shown above in post). Another big "thanks!" to Mary who was kind to share with us a scan of the letter included with the gift card she received (image shown below in post).
It seems like J.Crew is targeting those in the extreme ends of the client spectrum- either excellent customers or customers who have not been frequenting the retailer in recent months. It is actually a sweet (& smart) move to offer a generous gift card while promoting their personal shopper services. Well played!

Did you get a gift card/note in the mail? Did you get a letter? Will you be taking advantage of J.Crew's offer? If so, please share! :)

  1. Nothing for me, bien sur! I haven't ordered or bought anything in weeks, but today I found the Raj paisley pencil skirt in my b&m for $69.97 + 30% off so I bought it. Love that print!

  2. Nothing for me.

OT - the JC Vancouver store is having a Father's Day in-store event tomorrow morning. I am guessing breakfast/snacks?

  4. Gosh....I guess I'm TOO well know at the Crew as I didn't get a gift card either! hee hee. I'd love a 30% off sale items on the site for the very frequent shopper....as a "thank you". Anyone from the Crew reading this????

  5. Are these only going to J crew cc holders? Haven't used my cc is 2 years since the rewards did nothing for me (AmEx paid better and gave me cash) As I started to stop using the j crew card - I got a $100 reward card- so this program is not new - maybe redesigned.

  6. I was thrilled to find a $50 gift card in the mail yesterday! I ordered a pencil skirt on sale after Valentine's Day with a gift card from my dad :) but haven't bought anything since, and before that I had gotten some stuff for Xmas but all as gifts, so I don't think I myself had purchased anything for months before that. It's great for them to reach out - I love a lot of the new stuff but haven't been able to bite the bullet because of high prices. This will definitely help. :)

  7. Wow. Not sure whose idea this was but I can guarantee they will regret it. My sister in law, who doesn't shop at JC nearly as often as I do, or spend half as much money, got a card in the mail today and asked if I got one too.

Nope. This cardholder and decades long loyal shopper got nothing. Zilch. Nada. As per usual.

Sorry but, as another poster mentioned, Amex is better than the JCrew card in terms of rewards. Canceling my card tonight.

  8. Hmmmm...and I bet all of this gift card $$ is being folded into the ever-rising cost of the clothes. JC, I want to shop with you - you don't have to throw free money at me! Just fix your issues (you know what they are, we JCA's have discussed them ad nauseum and know that you're reading).

  9. I also received a gift card ($50). I'm a big online shopper but rarely anything full price - I do wonder if I was targeted to start shopping in store or to spend more on FP items. Regardless, I'll make an appointment and spend my gift card happily!

  10. I'm disappointed as well. I shop on jcrew.com all the time and didn't get one either. I did get an email telling me that I'm really close to my $25 reward. Things like this will make me think twice about shopping in jcrew again...

  11. This makes me want to cancel my card. It doesn't get you free shipping, they won't tailor anything really - they just hem it and even then only if it is full price - plus the rewards are super lame - 5% and then it just makes you shop more by a specific date.

I am a petite who cannot wear most regular sized clothes so I got the card thinking tailoring would be a plus but they should just say "hemming" not tailoring.

  12. I have not bought anything at a J.Crew store in over a year! I did buy somethings at the outlet twice in the past year. Up until the swim wear promo I had not bought anything since Christmas. (No gift card)

  13. I have turned down the offer of the J. Crew credit card so many times....if I had a dime for each time....well you know. I just tell them I use one credit card exclusively to get fly miles for our vacations. I appreciate what J. Crew is doing with the card, but I can't pass up fly miles and usually the SA agrees with me.

  14. Makes me feel like I'm 10 years old again and trying to be a Goid Sport and Not Sulk.

  15. Sounds like jscrewy-marketing strikes again. Way to anger loyal customers, cc holders.... and baffle those of us who've retreated in face of one split seam too many. I haven't bought anything from j.crew in 2012, but they're not wooing me by spiking my mail.

  16. This is a surefire way to irritate those who feel like they are good customers (present company included). Grrr...

  17. I just got an envelope for "one of our best customers" that showed pictures of next season's (fall) items and telling me I could call to pre-order them... no gift card! I'm so irritated by that... you know what Jcrew? You are telling me I am "too" good of a customer that you don't have to lure me with a gift card? No thanks. officially irritated.
