Weekly Share: Other JCrew-like Retailers

This is the weekly "Other JCrew-like Retailers" post (similar to the "Off On A Tangent" posts), where we can share our finds from other retailers that have offerings similar to J.Crew (like Anthropologie, LE Canvas, Gap, BR, Talbots, Ann Taylor, and the like.)

If you have recently encountered items that are similar to J.Crew, maybe you might be willing to share that information with us in this post.

Please feel free to share your story on almost any topic— including experiences with certain merchandise pieces, promotions/ offers, in-store visits, transactions with store associates, etc.

  1. More Madewell pictures from an order I just received here.

  2. This is a really cute alternative to the heart sweater J. Crew had. I really like the texture with the ruffled heart.

  3. LEC debuted its spring line today. Anyone else notice a rise in price?

  4. A great sale started at Shopbop yesterday and includes some great spring/resort pieces from Rebecca Minkoff and Nanette Lepore. Check it out!

  5. Does Anthropologie EVER offer free shipping? I received a gift card for Xmas but I just refuse to pay shipping, and my local store does not carry shoes, which is of course the only thing from there I want right now. Not paying $10 shipping for an $80 order.

  6. Kikki cee, the first thing I noticed was a large rise in prices at LEC, wow! They better be planning on some coupons soon.

  7. J.CrewJD-- I'm pretty sure they still do this, but if you go to the anthropologie B&M, you can have them call in the order and they'll waive shipping for you... like the red phone at J.Crew...

  8. JCrewJD, Anthro had free shipping for more than a month at the end of last year. Not sure how often they do this though.

  9. J.CrewJD - Sign up for the free Anthro card. Not sure if you already know about it, so here goes. It's basically a card that tracks your purchases. Not a credit card. The upside is that they can look up items you've purchased by using the card, in the event you've lost your receipt. Anthro card members are offered free shipping a few times a year. When the free shipping is in effect you don't need a code. Just log in thru your account and the shipping is applied. It's nice because the free shipping period will be as long as 2 wks, so it can be used during the entire period. Sometimes there is a minimum, i.e. $150+ or you have to have a full priced item on your order. Offers vary.

  10. Thanks gigi! I already have the Anthro card but it was just sitting in my purse doing nothing. I've now linked it to my online account. I had no idea there were any real benefits to having one!

  11. Miss JR, I think I will do that. Thank you!

  12. Last day of the Talbots sale today. There are still some great deals, although you have to dig a little. It's final sale, so just be sure. I've seen a lot in person so if you have a question about a specific item, ask away. The kiara wedges are an awesome deal with butter- soft leather and run tts.

  13. Has anyone tried Madewell's Skinny Skinny Jeans? I would like to buy the yellow ones, but am unsure of what size to buy. Typically I am a 26 in all denim (7FAMK, COH, J Brand, J. Crew Toothpick, etc.) - should I go with that, or should I size up to a 27?

    Thanks!

  15. shopwithm,

My last two orders with Talbots from the sale section were both cancelled completely due to not being in stock. Worse than J.Crew with inventory IMO!

    Really disappointed in Talbots recently.

Never in 20 years of shopping with LLBean or Lands End did a sale order ever get cancelled.

  16. (orig) Genny -- Argh, so annoying! I never had this happen with Talbots before this year. My last order had several items cancelled on me as well. Then they popped back up online a few days later. WTH? Anyway, I do think it's worth a shot for some of the items at crazy low prices. I wish they'd have free shipping, no min though.

  17. Caitlin-

I'd suggest sticking with your regular size 26 (I'm also a 26 in JCrew Toothpick, COH and Jbrand) and I take a 26 with Madewell jeans. HTH.

  18. I haven't seen it in person yet, but I think that the Talbots Ikat Skirt is cuter than the j.crew counterpart. The color combo makes me think of xoxo.

  25. Was in Banana Republic yesterday and they have a new bag very similar to the Edie purse 44804, without the top handle but with long strap, in a bright red, black, and tan for $120. With all their discount cards, 40% FP etc, might be a good purchase for those with their eye on the Edie but hate the price.

here: Parklane Stripe Dress, Academy Blazer and Block Stripe Hoodie
