J.Crew Email: A message from our commander-in-chic...

"Thanks!" to many of you, including Marietta & Ketan, who let us know about J.Crew's latest email.

The email features the Drapey Bateau Tee (Item 32642; $69.50), which J.Crew describes as
The ever-classic flattering bateau—dressed with a sprinkling of sequins at the shoulder. Crafted of a very special linen blend distinguished by its incredible drape and supremely soft feel. Cotton/Modal®/linen. Boatneck. Three-quarter sleeves. Import. Machine wash.
I saw the top in-person and I do think it is absolutely lovely. But in all fairness, I am a sucker for boatneck, striped, three-quarter sleeves tees. I will definitely buy it (when it goes on sale). :)

What are your thoughts on the Drapey Bateau Tee? Do you own or have tried it on? If so, please share. :)

  1. I also think it looks pretty in both colors. I'll definitely check it out the next time I'm in the B&M.

  2. um, in a positive manner, may I suggest Head & Shoulders for the stuff on the shoulder?

  3. Glad I saw this IRL before the e-mail. The sequins on the shoulder don't work for me at all.

  5. I tend to find linen itchy so unless I could try this on in person first I would pass....looks pretty though!

  6. It looks like maybe their clothing is starting to rub off on each other. Literally.

  7. I actually think the sequins on the shoulder are pretty, but am over stripes.

  8. I am getting tired of the "commander-in-chic" title, they should drop it.

I tried the olive one and even if I liked it I was leaving it behind when I saw the price tag, but then I tried it with the felted mini in the moss color and the outfit was too cute to pass. I will post pics soon. The fabric wasn't that special, felt like a regular tee to me...

  11. I don't think it is in the stores. I ordered the olive one online and am excited to get it! Bummer for me though because I got the 25% off card! (Which was an act of God, I have no idea how that little gem came to me!!)

  12. This tee is in stores, although probably not in XXS. I think it's really cute. Will probably buy the olive one since I have too many navy/white striped tees. Trying to decide if it's worth the price + 25% off card + 15% off student discount, or if I should just wait for sale. Hmm...

  13. I'm with some of you who have OD'd on "Commander in Chic" and stripey tops. It is cute though, but how is it "drapey"? I looked at the model shot on line and it's fitted, with no room for a burger (or a cookie for that matter). Chalk it up to JC Haiku?

  14. I think it is a cute top - especially in the olive color (I have too many white/navy striped ones). I saw it in store over the weekend, and it is definitely not drapey! I am waiting for a sale and then I will snatch it up :)

  15. The commander in chic thing is lame. But the shirt is super cute! I did buy it in the olive color w/my 25% off card, but I may return it b/c I think it's still a little pricey. It is very cute, though!

  16. it is a cute top--and i love the olive color, however, once you add a cardigan over it (if you wanted to) you won't see the sequins, so it's not worth it!
