Darlings, is it time for a J.Crew coupon code?

Yes, it is that wonderful time!

A big "thanks!" to DaniBP (in this post) who let us know that J.Crew is offering free shipping on orders of $150+ with promo code A523GW. This offer expires 1/11/10.

P.S. I have noticed that other blogs & websites post J.Crew codes & coupons *after* this blog does. If you happen to get codes & coupons from the JCA blog & post them at your site, could you please give give a "shout out" to the JCA blog? This way more JCAs are inclined to share. TIA! :)

  1. Thanks Dani and Alexis! I was on the fence about buying a coat, and then I saw Dani's post, and I decided to go for it :)
Hope everyone is having a good week

  2. Thank so you much! I bought some sale shoes and threw in some jeans to get the FS. I need new jeans anyway so it worked out fine.

  3. Does anyone know how the Ikat silk streamers cami fits?

I googled for reviews but didn't have any luck.

    Thanks!

  4. Thanks Dani!

Unfortunately, I already placed an order last night (after unsuccessfully scouring the Internet for a free shipping code). Now I wake up to this -- I feel like a fool! Have any JCAs ever had luck getting CS to apply free shipping AFTER the fact? Any tips on how to sweet talk the good people at JC headquarters? It's $20 I could save -- I know, not much, but worth it to this 23 yo suffering some post-holiday (and post re-acquaintance with JCrew) financial trauma. TIA.

ps. Liking the new blog theme Alexis! As a mostly-stalker, you may not hear from me that often, but I really appreciate all the work you put in!

  5. Stacy: I have the Ikat streamers cami and it is TTS. Sometimes I have trouble with J Crew tops being way too wide, but this was just right. Wore it for Christmas with a bright papaya cashmere cardigan -- perfect together. $29.99 is a great price, it is a beautiful top.

  6. simpletisbest - try calling JC and speaking with someone in CS. I have had success with placing an order early am and then finding out about a FS code later am and they have always refunded my shipping. I've never tried it with an order the next day, but wouldn't hurt to try!

Does anyone know when we will be getting our rewards cards in the mail?

  7. Just spoke with someone at JC and have an answer to my own question - rewards cards get mailed out beginning of Feb. Time to start looking at what I want to buy with it!!

  8. Thanks Elizabeth! I just called and tried to play dumb, and the CS did not buy the act AT ALL, but she did (wearily) agree to apply the code to the order. Yay! Thanks all!

  9. Yay! Thank you Dani and Alexis for sharing this code. I was going to place an order last night and held off so I'm thankful. I will take any savings I can these days. :)

  10. Heidi,
Be careful what you post...eyes are watching...and will change things online based on your post...FFM stated so recently and we long timers have seen it happen.

  11. Stacy, just another opinion on the silk streamers cami, IME it runs large and long. I'm 5'4" but in general do not wear petite tops--in this one I definitely could have used a P.

  12. Hello JCA's. I have a few items in my shopping bag and am ready to pull the trigger with the FS code. However, I need some help. I'm tempted by the elizabeth blouse. I tried it on in the store and liked it. (BTW it was still 89.50 in the store) I asked the SA for a cardi to try on over it and she gave me a white one. White cardi over white blouse didn't give me a good idea of how the blouse looks under a sweater. Anyone have this blouse? Anyone wear it under a cardi? Can you wear a crew neck cardi or should it be v neck to show off the ruffles? Thank you!!

  13. Darn, I thought I would start off the new year with a resolution to only buy what I need. Who did I think I was kidding!!??
Thanks to SHOPALOT ( a kindred soul) I never would have thought to pair the ikat streamers cami with the bright papaya cashmere sweater. I was just looking at that sweater ( which I have in my closet) and wondering why I never wear it. Well.. I just ordered it (as well as a few ore things to get to the FS minimum) so now I have something!!
    Thanks alot shopalot!!
    MJ

  14. FYI...I was just in a B&M and all sale (final) items are an additional 30% off!

  15. Thank you for the code! I used it to order sperry top siders and Cleo sandals. Strangely enough, Cleos in soft graphite are scheduled to ship 02.01.2010 - backordered already?? Or, "due to extremely cold weather, we decided you wouldn't need them at least until then"? Heh. Will report on fit once I get both.

  16. Crewcrazy,

I would wear a v-neck to show off the ruffles! Either button front or pullover as long as it's v-neck it will look fab IMO!

  17. LOL, MJ! I was happy to see that I am not the only person, who made that New Year's resolution. Like you, I have already caved!!!

  18. Bought by daughter some lovely things from Crew Cuts (free shipping on everything Crew Cuts right now) but wanted to buy myself a little blouse too and didn't want to spend the $8.50 on shipping - thanks so much for the coupon code - I love shopping when the shipping is gratis!

  19. crewcrazy - I bought the blouse, but haven't worn it yet. However, I did try it on with the black sequin pocket cardi. I also saw an sa with it on with a different long black cardi (sorry, I'm not sure which one it was). I think it works best with a v-neck, although I haven't tried it on with anything else.

  20. Can anyone help me decide between the monticello and the porto driving mocs? Are they essentially the same and do they both run very large? I've never bought JC driving mocs before, I really like the pale gold portos but the monticellos are $45 less. TIA.

  21. Oh, this is great. I want to buy a cowl dress and they are all full-price so the free shipping will help. Much appreciated DaniBP and Alexis. Thank you!

OT - I received my stadium cloth Winnie jacket yesterday. Oddly, it was labeled as "Jasmine" on the plastic. I like the style but I'm on the fence whether it works for me. Sure love the stadium cloth though. It's been really cold here, I've been wearing my stadium cloth Shipley and Bridget coats from last year and they are so warm and cozy. One thing I found rather funny was that as I was taking the plastic off I held the coat up by the side of the hanger in order to get the plastic over the hook part, and the hanger just snapped, the piece I was holding broke right off. I guess there are more cost-savings happening, besides the new bags. :~|

  22. I am wondering if anyone received the newest Jcrew catalog in the mail yet, cause I haven't received mine. Thanks!:)

  23. Heidi & Elizabeth - would you mind sharing some of the good deals you saw in store or which you snagged? I love hearing about the great items and deals that other JCAs snap up! :)

On another note, my featherweight cashmere cardigan from last summer is falling apart... I've only worn it a few times and absolutely baby it thinking I could escape the fate some other JCAs have reported, sadly I'm not immune either! :(

  24. I ordered the vintage roadster boots in black in size 7 (my usual size). These boots are huge! This style is NOT on sale and there's a back order, if you can believe it. I need a 6.5. Has anyone seen these in their local B&M?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Ruffles, I have two pair of the Montecellos (graphite and the pinkish color). Like most of the driving mocs, I'd order down if you're between sizes. I find them to be snug for a couple wearings, then perfect. I like the Portos, too (mainly the new color offerings), but I snagged my last Montebellos for around $60 during the 30% sale.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Ha! I called them Montecellos, too! Sorry. ;)

  27. Tibi, oh no! After over a month of waiting, I just got the email this morning saying that my sz 7.5 (extended calf) Roadsters are on their way... so clearly I am also not happy to hear that they run big. Can I ask whether they were big in the calf area, or in actual foot length, or both? Wondering if I should try to snag a different size while they're still in stock.

Anyway, such a bummer that they seem to be sold out in your size. I hope you have luck finding them!

  28. I got the Cleo sandals today in the dark brown. I absolutely love them and they are pretty comfy. I am a true size 5.5, and I did size up to a 6 and they are perfect.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Thank you Heather, I will get the Montebellos too!

  30. Ruffles, check you B&M if you can and if they carry shoes. I saw bunch of Montebellos in Hackensack and Paramus NJ stores yesterday at $49.99 plus 30% off. I also got shadow matchsticks for $20 and banquette dress at $48. I was pretty happy camper especially that i previously returned the same matchsticks because I could not justify them at $55 I bought them and I have bought the dress at full price but returned as well since I thought it would have a lint problem and at 178 it was a strech for me. Well, at $48 I can deal with the lint roller... I also almost bought the cashmere v neck cardi in dusty blossom at $70 but I prefer medium to the small they had. Besides, I carry a note in my wallet that says 'NEVER. BUY. CASHMERE. FROM. JCREW.'

  31. Ladies, sorry for the looooong sentences. I promise to try some punctuation in the future.

    ReplyDelete
  32. LOL at your note, acj!!

Do you happen to remember whether Paramus had the banquette in 2 or 4? And an ivory Annalise in 2 by chance? TIA

    ReplyDelete
  33. Am so glad I procrastinated putting in my final sale order until today, and checking here before I hit submit. Thanks for saving me $28!

  34. mammydearest, Hackensack had black banquette in 4 and grey in 2 when I left arount 7pm last night. I don't think there were any in Paramus. They did have watercolor leopard skirt in 4 (and some other bigger size) and cinnamon stick pencil in 0 if anybody is looking for them. hth

  36. I think I saw Annalise too in Hackensack, but not sure about the size and color, sorry. I think it was in melon though.
Oh, and Hackensack also had plum pencil skirt in 6 for I think &79 plus 30%. How I wish it was a 2. Have anyone took in their perfect pencil? it seemed difficult because of double seam in the back and already 2 darts front and back and the side zipper. I have no hips, so I prefer to take in on the sides, all the way down.

    ReplyDelete
  37. ajc, thanks so much. No luck finding Annalise, so I guess I'll be sucking up the online shipping fees. Thanks for the heads-up on the banquette! I appreciate the help!

  38. Simpleisbest - I bought the SHORT vintage roadster boots, so I can't say how they fit in the calf. For me, the foot bed felt like a 1/2 to full size too big. My heel kept slipping up and down when I walked. I tried them with plan thin cotton socks. I might try them with thick wool socks to see if there's a difference, but my guess is they will still be too big. :(

  39. mommydearest: If you have access to a B&M store then you can order the item over the red phone. They will price match the current in-store price(29.99 + the extra 30% off going on now). Your total cost should be under $30.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Simpleisbest/Tibi Have both the long & short Roadsters, agree they run close to a 1/2 size large in the length of the boot. Tops on both are fine & I don't have small calves (also meant to be broken in/ slouchy, at least the short ones.) HOWEVER, did not return & size down for 2 reasons. Worried about being able to get the smaller boots on easily (& I don't think I have a particularly high instep) as left one was snug & tug, tug, tug. Also, want to be able to wear them with tights + thick socks (blame Canada.) If you really <3 & it's just heel that's slipping you can try having a shoe repair put in a grip, pretty inexpensive.

  41. Michelle, thanks! I was wondering whether red phone would honor the addtl 30% in-store. I am paying my PS a visit very soon :)

    ReplyDelete
  42. No problem. I think it really helps if you have a PS too. If the person on the other end of the phone is giving you any trouble a SA or PS is more than willing to ask that they apply the in-store promotion--in my experiences anyway.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Thanks GetFresh, that info is really helpful! If they're not like boats on my feet I might try to keep them and wear with socks, as you suggested. Also hoping the extended calf won't be too huge for my 14" of "muscle". Otherwise, I'll need to go old-school and try to do exchange-by-mail, because I bought these originally with a 30% off promotion that translates to a $81(!) savings. Can't lose that!

Tibi, maybe thick socks will work for you as well?

OT, stopped by Stanford shopping ctr on my lunch break (I work 2 minutes away-- dangerous!!) and saw some good outerwear on sale (including green sz 6 duffle), a bunch of sale cashmere crewnecks, turtlenecks and a popover (mostly larger sizes, but some S and XS) a couple cinnamon stick perfect pencil skirts in sz 2 ($79.99) and a pair of sz 7.5 brown kelcey flats ($49.99). There was also the addtl 30% off, so those items could be great steals.
