Crewcuts Email: Tee Party, Now 2 For $18

J.Crew sent an email featuring Crewcuts Girls' Short-Sleeve City Tee (Item 97660, $12.00). Right now, they are offering a promotion: buy 2 for $18. It's not clear how long this will last.

How cute is that outfit pictured in the image!?! I would totally wear it. I am going to see if I can find that skirt in the Women's section. ;)

Incidentally, have you ever contacted Melanie, J.Crew's Crewcuts specialist? (I am curious if she really responds to all customer inquiries, or the inquiries are parsed out to other J.Crew representatives.)

  1. Is Melanie a real person? It sounds like a made-up "JCrewie" name.

  2. Alexis,

There have been MANY crewcuts prints and pieces that I would have bought in adult sizes if they had been made....

  3. Anonymous at 9:44 is correct. Thee may actually be a "melanie" at J. Creww, but these names (Ashley, Jennifer) are just to help send the e-mails to the correct departments.

  4. Hm, for some reason I find it kind of annoying that they make up those fake name! Oh well

  5. I love crewcuts for dd. I wrote in recently to Melanie with a few comments. I got a nice response from "Tim" with a direct number to contact him with further queries/issues/orders.

I do think some of the crewcuts pieces are better made than women's items. I love their sweater jackets.

  6. Some of the items are so cute, makes me wish I had a dd to dress.

  7. DS loves crewcuts (I'm raising him right!) Sometimes I want to have a baby girl just to dress her in the little girl outfits...but then I think "Am I willing to pay the same amount for a skirt for a little girl as I would pay for one for myself?"
I only buy crewcuts on sale.

  8. My daughter is almost big enough to fit crewcuts, so I will probably buying a few tees. I agree with MMM - I will only buy crewcuts on sale. The outfits are so cute!

  9. I HAVE emailed Melanie before about where they get their Crewcuts models (thinking my kids would be perfect)...and she promptly responded. Love good customer service...almost as much as I love Crewcuts.

  12. OT (completely off-topic):

I was wondering how everyone else stores their "wishlist" (since jcrew.com doesn't yet have this feature...**hint hint sure would be nice!**

I know a lot of you mentioned bookmarking certain pages to stalk an item from day to day (though as of late the bookmarked links are coming up MIA), and of course there's Polyvore (though I'm trying to limit my sets to what I actually own, so it acts like a virtual closet)... For a time I used to use the Sticky Note on iGoogle to type in the item name and number so when an item magically disappears from the website (it happens!) I can do a search by item name or number.

Also, I've been using Wishlistr. It even has a bookmarklet that you can drag into your browser's toolbar so when you see an item you like (like at jcrew.com) you just click the bookmarklet and add it to your wishlist. AND from what I can tell, the links back to items on jcrew.com still work.

Oh, two more things (that'll be it I promise!)

If you have many many multiple orders (like I do) - you can create a Ta-Da List and type in your order date, order confirmation number and the names of the items you ordered (and your UPS tracking #'s when you get them). Then just check off the orders when you receive them. And to keep up with where the actual orders are - use TrackThis to have the UPS updates sent to your email, Twitter account or via Facebook.

Whew, a lot of information there.

So anyway, sorry for the long post - just wanted to share a few of my jcrew bookmarking & tracking tips. Since it seems to take a bit longer to shop at J.Crew's site nowadays, it's nice to save a little time where you can. :)

  13. I bought my little boys a few Crewcuts pieces at the Tampa J.Crew last month when I was over there...they were in the 30% off Final Sale section, and I got fantastic deals. I wish Orlando J.Crew had Crewcuts...I've heard the Factory Store does, but I haven't been yet. I wonder if the quality at the Crewcuts Factory Store is like the regular J.Crew Factory store? Does anyone know?

  14. My 7 year old mainly wears crewcuts--90% of my wardrobe and hers are crewcuts. They are well made and fit both of our hard to fit bodies very well. My daugher is so thin that other brand of pants just fall right off her or are too baggy in the bottom/leg area. Love Crewcuts. The fit is perfect for us. She wears the large 6-7 and is 7 1/2.

  15. I meant she wears crewcuts and I wear "regular" JCrew! I need some coffee.

  16. Thanks everyone for your comments!

I always wondered about "Melanie", I am happy to hear that she exists, even though she probably doesn't respond to everyone's email. ;)

  17. RatsOnParade: Great information on the wishlist, order tracking, etc. I am totally going to try them! Thanks!

  18. Those ideas for wishlisting are great! In the absence of a wish list or a shopping bag that saves items, that's a way to be resourceful now that bookmarking doesn't work.

Some links probably work because affiliate websites funnel business to jcrew.com. It would be a huge mistake for jcrew to shut out those bloggers who use polyvore or shopstyle to create buzz about their items. Maybe they get a decent commission for providing the sevice that jcrew is unwilling or unable to do themselves.

  19. Unfortunately my 10 year old is outgrowing the Crewcuts. I don't know why J Crew doesn't go up to at least 14 years old for sizes.

Now only if they have a 2 for $30 sales on the painter tees, like for the little girls...

  20. is the difference between the largest crewcuts sizes and the smallest adults sizes that big of a gap?

now that i think about it, there do seem to be a lot of brands that don't have sizes for tweens, yet they have clothing for small children. by the time most kids outgrow crewcuts, i would imagine they'll want to wear other brands you can't afford =p

perhaps jcrew will add more sizes as the president's daughters outgrow their crewcuts...

  21. The largest boy's crewcut tee is XXL and it's small and short. An adult male small will be huge on my son. I guess if it's a girl an adult female XS may work.

For now my own option is Hanna.

  22. so sorry I never saw this before, yes I was real (others would respond on my behalf) Ashley and Erica are real as well!
