Robert in the "JCrew Rewards Card & Gift Cards" post was kind enough to share the following with us:
"Just a note for you guys: I work at a J Crew and the new catalogs are in and will be on display tomorrow. Also, the new website will go up tomorrow morning, with all the new fall items. I don't know what time they update the website (seems like it must be around 4 AM or so), but check it tomorrow morning."
First, "thank you!" to Robert. Second, I must admit I am excited to check the website tomorrow morning. It will be like old times... waking up early, having my links ready, my mouse ready to click on some item pages. :)
What do you think about Robert's comments? Will you be checking J.Crew's website early tomorrow morning? Are you excited about the website update?
OH MY! How exciting!!!!! Can't wait!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI'll be checking! You never know what they'll choose to put up first, and it will be great to see some of the catalog items modeled from different angles.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Robert! :)
Muffy: I agree- very exciting! :)
ReplyDeleteSweetming: I will be joining you in the "checking" part. Although, 4AM seems awfully early to me. ;)
I look forward to seeing new items, but as I said in another post...I will wait to purchase the New Fall Items after they get marked down a little bit...it's too hot in Florida to wear much of it anyways, plus I don't want the stress of purchasing online again while they are still having so many issues, so I will await the reduced prices that will more than likely happen in a month or two. ;)
ReplyDeleteIf they DO have another price reduction in the "Final Sale", I don't think there is anything else I really want...maybe another Joelle Cami, or two, in different colors, or another Tulip or the Polka Dot San Telmo, and DEFINITELY the Fave Fit Cotton Matting Drawstring Wide Leg Pants, but that's about it...they will need to be DRASTICALLY reduced to warrant the time and energy it will take to make sure I get all the correct prices and all of the items shipped to me...we'll see what happens...never say never. ;)
I am SO excited, I will be checking in the morning! I love fall clothes.
ReplyDeleteThe Sales Associate at the Towson store also said the catalogs will 'hit the floor' tomorrow (but gave me one anyway-he's my new favorite!). Also, the 30% off women's FS items ended yesterday but 30% off still on for men's FS.
ReplyDeleteThankfully I was able to get the
Jamie Jacket at 30% off $79.99(totalling $55.99!). The store forgot to take down the 30% off sign over the women's FS merchandise.
The Jamie Jacket has a neck line similiar to the bateau jacket, three quarter sleeves & is cut kind of on the slim side. I bought it in a size small (in a medium it would not lay as nice-too much bulk) & instead of tying the belt around the jacket, I tied it in the back & the jacket lays flat & is just an all around attractive, classy sweater/jacket.
Also, they had one size large in FS & when I asked the Sales Assoc. went in the back & brought out my size. They had alot of these last time I was there...are they hiding them?
The Kayla shirt was FS & everything else was in minimal amounts & pretty blah.
I tried on the Ecole jacket in Navy, size 4 & it fits, on me, like the Via Vittorio & Madras jacket. Slightly fitted in waist & a little bulk in the bust area. I liked it but am not dying for it. Something about that material doesn't make me crazy. Reminded me of X-mas time. They had loads of them by the way & the colors I saw (honey glaze, sweet papaya & navy) are pretty in person.
Other fall items there like slim cut, soft wrinkly button downs. I really like nice casual button downs & was really happy to see these in the store. There are short sleeve shirts in the Emily swiss dot material too. Lots of cords and pretty, slim cut dresses. I could not try on since my son's shopping patience is only as long as his lollipop keeps him happy ;) "Slim cut" means the dresses do not look like bags like this past season, more like the Julianne Dress on pg 42 of the catalog. Didn't notice shoes. Overall I feel excited about the clothes & look forward to the next round. JCrew, I take back everything I said about you!
Too bad I don't have a educator's discount...yet! I spent around $85 & got the Jamie Jacket, 4 mens boxers & a pair of men's swim trunks. To me that's a good deal.
!SORRY FOR THE LONG POST!
Yes, but stick to the b&m stores. I saw some new items in our store today. Still having big problems with my online orders, and also a phone order placed from the store! Things were billed and never received. Oh well. Still excited to see the new things and the new catalog. Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeletei'm excited to see new stuff on the web...even though i already have a catalog, i like to surf! and as sweetmint said, i like seeing all the other angles that you don't see in the catalog...
ReplyDeletehopefully that ruffled herrinbone jacket will be on the web since it wasn't in the cat...i'd like to see how it's supposed to fit since it was a bit roomy on me when i tried it on in the store :)
oops...herrinbone = herringbone...i didn't spell check ;)
ReplyDeleteOops, one last thing, I tried on the
ReplyDeleteWhite denim trouser item 92792. I am always a size 6 & size 4 fit me perfectly in these pants. I would buy these in a heartbeat for under $25.00 but not at the current price. They look sharp on baby-very flattering! Maybe I was thinking they're great because I had on the Jamie Jacket with them.
Question for those looking to ebay for their J Crew craves: What has your experience been like? Any favorite sellers? I have to say I've ordered a couple items and been somewhat unhappy with them. They just seem somewhat more tired looking than if I got them in the store even though they are "new"
ReplyDeleteThanks!
Finally, the website will have new things! I wouldn't order online or by phone yet, however. I had to phone there, as my emails went unanswered for 3 days so far, and was on hold for 25 minutes!!! Go to the stores!
ReplyDeleteI sent an email about the 2 hours it took me to place and order and they credited my shipping. ONe time only. Stuff came today and it was missing a pair of pants, even though they were on the packing slip. Heaven help us!
ReplyDeleteAlexis: I like that you put up a pic by your name...it's a cute one, too! :)
ReplyDeleteJcrewbug, I've had pretty good luck with eBay and have gotten some of my favorite pieces there (long wool Charlie coat, large Anya tote, wool tuxedo dress, city tote, vintage Lily cami, Martine cami, Vivian metallic slingbacks, Joelle blouse, and numerous pairs of jeans!). It can be a crapshoot - in the beginning I exclusively got items that were NWT (New With Tags), but after I got the hang of it, I tried getting some NWOT items. I used to always ask for item numbers and seasons (listed in the internal tag) so that I could Google the item - but I guess I can't do that anymore! :(
ReplyDeleteAs for sellers, paisleypetunia is great, so is moonlight_emily and jeanhs (whose items are mostly used, but worn once or twice and in impeccable condition). I've also had good luck selling on eBay to unload my final sale items that didn't work out. It can be kind of labor intensive sometimes, but I find the payoff worth it because I would just funnel the money I made back into buying J.Crew items off of eBay - so I never had to go to the store! eBay can be lots of fun - be sure to check out the seller's feedback as well!
Donna: Your experience only serves as a reminder to me that I will not be placing any orders online for awhile. What happened to you is ridiculous.
ReplyDeleteFabulousFloridaMommy: I read in another post that you got the catalog already- so jealous! I can't wait to get one in the mail. There is just something about holding a catalog. Also, thanks for noticing my new picture. I really liked the Paris catalog that J.Crew put together- especially that picture from their photo shoot. I think its classic J.Crew. :)
D'oh, I'm spelling these wrong! It's moonlight_emily4, jeanehs, mgunnracing, auctiongrove, jackrussellknitting and flyingpigge are good as well.
ReplyDeleteI know what you mean about some of the stuff seeming not as "fresh" - I think some seller's items have just been sitting around for a while. I once got a pair of wool crepe dress pants that were supposedly "Like New", but only noticed after wearing them a few times that they were totally sewn in the back (not on the seam, like the fabric had been ripped and it was fixed on a sewing machine)! I wasn't going to dispute 'cause I didn't pay too much for them, but after wearing them 2 more times, they ripped right up the back! I couldn't believe it - good thing I was at home when that wardrobe malfunction occured!
YAY! I am so excited! I saw that the ecole jacket comes in herringbone as well as velvet. hmmmm...which one to get : )
ReplyDeleteI swore someone wrote yesterday that they were able to pre order the things that we saw in the catalog yesterday. Did you need a catalog source code for that, or were you able to just call in with the item numbers? I am thinking I might try to pre-order a few thing too : )
Thanks to Robert for the insider information! But I have--sob--jury duty tomorrow, so I'm sure I'll miss all the good stuff.
ReplyDeletejessica: i was able to place an order last night over the phone. i gave the item numbers from the catalog. the cs rep took my order. he was unable to give me a total amount, but i was okay with that. :) hope that helps - good luck!
ReplyDeletesilver_lining: Thanks for the all the info!! I have seen listings from some of those sellers - in fact a few are on my watched items list. It's good to know that someone who has a keen J Crew eye has had good experiences with these sellers! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to see that the items will be online around 4 A.M. I used to be able to see all the new sale items for the day at around 6:45 A.M., but recently, it is happening much later (but I don't have any idea when - must go to work to earn my J.Crew allowance!) Does anyone know what is going on and when new sale items are posted every day? Thanks so much!
ReplyDeleteHere is my e-bay experience. After I found out that J.Crew sold me the giraffe necklace they didn't have, I bought the necklace on e-bay (full price). I asked the seller if the necklace was in the perfect condition and the seller reply that yes, it was indeed in perfect condition. It came today. You can imagine how dissapointed I was to discover that my giraffe was missing one ear! I don't think it was the seller's fault because the necklace seemed to be wrapped in original bubble wrap. I love the necklace, it is sold out, so if you see someone sporting a giraffe with one ear - it is me. This whole giraffe necklace 3-weeks long adventure has been just ridiculous. I can't even show it to my husband (he knows the whole story) and later I think I'll tell him I just lost the ear. I am really ready to take a break...
ReplyDeleteoh no sky! a broken ear! how disappointing. I was so hoping you were going to get a perfect necklace someway somehow.
ReplyDeleteare you sure you don't want to contact the seller? Maybe you should just ask for some of your money back as the item was damaged, but you would still like to keep it.
I understand about the ordeal though. I literally spent a day calling stores across the country for that thing. I think it is now my most cherished j crew possession just for the effort I went through getting it.
No problem, everyone. We've been getting new stuff all week and putting it out as we go, so your local stores might already have stuff there.
ReplyDeleteOne more thing: if you're having trouble with your orders or with a piece of clothing, be sure to go to one of the store managers and spell it out for them. Be cool about it, of course, but I've been surprised by a lot of stuff that our managers take back - customer service is huge at J Crew and is stressed heavily to all associates. But yeah, if there's ever a problem with something you purchase, contact a store manager or associate manager - they'll most likely address your problem, whether it's free shipping or a discount or what.
Does anybody know how these sellers on ebay get their hands on merchandise so quickly?
ReplyDeleteSky: Sorry to hear about the giraffe's ear. Especially after all you went through to finally get one! You should call your giraffe van Gogh now. ;)
ReplyDeleteRobert: Again, thank you so much for sharing with us. :) Also, please feel free to comment any time- as we really appreciate the J.Crew perspective on matters. :)
Thanks Kater and Alexis. I didn't even want to write about it but since I saw few other e-bay related post, I couldn't resist.
ReplyDeleteI think I am done. I am tired of disputes and besides I am leaving tomorrow for vacation. I am picking up the Andrea jacket tomorrow morning and fly out in the evening.
I love my giraffe necklace anyway. I am wondering though if I should pull the second ear out, replace it somehow, or just leave it as is :) I am starting to feel a bond with it as is...
I apologize if someone has brought this up previously, but I just got so angry today when I was trying to order things from the sale section and the moment I would click on it the price would suddenly become higher. I know that they list select colors are a certain price, but when I would check every size and every color nonw were the lower price. People have been previously complaining about this happening but I really hadn't realized how annoying this would be until I was actually trying to order.
ReplyDeleteBut the thought that occured to me, and I'm not 100% sure of the answer, but it appears that this is a "bait and switch", they are lurring customers in with a low priced item and then offering a higher price item when they no longer have any of the lower priced items remaining. I'm going to be talking to someone in my state's consumer fraud department tomorrow about this. Even if they don't file a complaint maybe seeing this, J Crew will increase their efforts to clean up the problems that continue to plague them. I will let you know what I hear from the state.
I've been drooling over the book all day, so I took the plunge and went into the store..... YIKES. My credit card needs to locked up at Fort Knox, immediately. Walked out with 4 pair of shoes, 2 dresses, 3 skirts and some belts....
ReplyDeleteBut, like a true J.Crew fan I will be looking at the website 1st thing tomorrow morning. So much of this collections reminds me of Chanel (the jackets) and Marc Jacobs (shoes).
Has anyone checked the sale section lately? The 20% off promo now says "hurry, ends this friday" - but this morning it said "hurry, ends this monday." Doesn't that seem weird to anyone else?
ReplyDeleteMethinks jcrew.com is up to something...
I have had pretty good luck on eBay, both with eBay stores and with individual sellers. I've even purchased a few pairs of shoes that have been worn once. I've purchased from Paisley Petunia quite a few times (newer stuff and very reliable but not always the cheapest price). In one case an individual seller listed a pair of espadrilles as new even though they'd obviously been worn once but they were $13 so I didn't really care.
ReplyDeleteOne thing to be cautious of is sellers passing off outlet merchandise as catalog merchandise. With some items (such as cashmere Ts) it's hard to tell.
Someone once posted a code J.Crew puts in tags to distinguish outlet from regular--anyone know the scoop on this?
hexicon, the outlet tag has jcrew written bigger and there are 2 or 3 diamonds under the label, that is always the outlet trademark.
ReplyDeletethanks sweetmint!
ReplyDeleteHey - does anyone happen to have the item number for the Lulu peep toe pumps? And the color name for the ones that look pinkish with a red bow? I NEED them : )
jessica: Lulu Peep-toe pumps are item number 96727J in Tulip.
ReplyDeleteSally, you rock! Thank you!!!!
ReplyDeleteI just pre-ordered the Ecole jacket in honey glaze: )
jessica: Congratulations on your pre-order! I'm dying to order the andrea jacket but wish I could use my rewards card. I'm afraid it'll be gone by then though...what a dilemma!
ReplyDeleteIs anyone else unable to pull up the sale page using Firefox? It's been like that all day for me.
ReplyDeletelynn: I also use Firefox and it's working fine for me.
ReplyDeleteHi All:
ReplyDeleteI went to the store today and got my promo gift cards! It took the store manager over an hour on the phone to get through to CS to confirm the order number (but that left me lots of time to try on!).
SO they have a new sweater jacket (I havent see it in the catalog) its in grey, I liked it. The denim skirt was WAY too long and hit me mid calf (and I am 5'7" and normally take a tall in pants). I will buy it on sale and then have it tailored, I loved the fit minus the length.
The cashmere cardigan with pockets and the bigger buttons (reminded me a of a grandpa sweater) fits true to size (aka I am normally a small and that doesnt mean I had to buy an xs).
I didnt really see much that look truly fabulous... Oh but I did try the velvet jacket on... It wasn't as form fitting as I would have hoped but I really liked it. I think it might be a purchase.
Ok. I am glad all my order madness is now sorted out and its time for bed. I hope everyone is having a good night.
Sally- I know what you mean, I should have a rewards card coming too, but I just can't wait! It seems like everything I want always sells out the second it hits the web : (
ReplyDelete4:30 am but nothing new yet : ( I am waiting patiently LOL!
ReplyDeleteJessica - looks like we might be waiting some more! I got up all excited thinking the website would surely at least have the new fall line, even if the sale items didn't change. But we got nuthin'. Maybe the big unveiling will take place later today - but what a disappointment!
ReplyDeleteI definitely did not get up at 4am to see new merchandise...J.Crew never updates that early in the morning...heck, they rarely update at all, anymore, so why would today be any different?
ReplyDeleteThey released the Spring line later in the morning. I remember because I did my normal checking of the sale in the early a.m. At around 10-11 I was at a family member's house & I pulled up the site & the new spring line was there!
ReplyDeleteI think the site will update today, but I've never known it to update that early in the day. Hope it's soon though!
ReplyDeleteI hope it is soon too! It is 8:00 pm in Japan and I am out like a light at 10 : ) I was hoping to get a look at the jewelry. I love that long locket looking necklace!
ReplyDeleteI am glad that the site is not updated....it would be a smart move on JCrew's part to wait...get the system fixed first....I can wait.....It's 85 degrees out and I don't even want to buy anything from them right now!
ReplyDeleteso sad....I just saw the Katie sweater in a small in navy blue for 39.99 on the website, but when I went to check out, it was no longer available. I feel fooled by the website. I should have known.
ReplyDeleteJessica & RatsonParade: I think RatsonParade is right, we will be waiting some more. Sorry to get everyone's hopes up. :(
ReplyDeleteFabulousFloridaMommy: I am glad I didn't wake up extra early too.
Rach: I like your positive thinking! Maybe it will be updated at some point today. :)
Anonymous at 9:15AM: You make an excellent argument of why JCrew should hold off. They do need to fix the kinks before an influx of orders.
Aly: Sorry about the Katie Sweater. I am sure once they update the sale, they will have a whole bunch in stock. :)
I was in my b&m this morning and heard two different times for online: one sa said Saturday and the manager told someone the 28th. I don't know which is correct, but obviously it's not today. I had to pre-order the tartine sweater because the new fall catalog isn't in the computer system yet. So, I'm not sure when it will actually come. :(
ReplyDeleteJ Crew usually puts up the new stuff on the last Thursday of the month (last full week). It usually goes up between 10 & 11 Central time. (It's after the overnight deadline.) I would be surprised to see it today - esp with all of the disasters of the new website.
ReplyDelete
