The Great (Weekly) Exchange

This post (of weekly posts) is for individual members who want to swap/sell/share among yourselves. The items discussed should be mainly J.Crew. This post is where you can mention your items and outside listing/ auction site (like eBay and eCrater). Please note: this posting is not for resellers. Also, individual members can request in this post, items that they are looking for and interested in buying.

Also, please note that any transactions are independent of this blog. (Especially since you will be using an outside listing/ auction site like eBay or eCrater.) I have no dealings or interactions with any of the potential communication, listings, or transactions. :) Moreover, please limit comments about items to swap/sell/share to just the "Great (Weekly) Exchange" posts. (Refer to "A Quick Note to J.Crew Aficionadas" post.)

Do you have any items you would like to swap/sell/share among yourselves through your outside listing/auction site? Is there an item (or items) that you are looking for and interested in purchasing?

  4. FFM, I was in the Tysons II store (Virginia) on Friday and they had some of those pants, you might try calling. I've found the SA at that store to be pretty helpful when looking for merchandise.

  6. Thank you MJ! I'll give them a call today. :)

Also...just got the J.Crew email about the Shoe Debut for those peep-toe Mary Janes they have had for a couple of months now, and are on the J.Crew Homepage...the email says they are "introducing" them, and a "debut" is for something new...how in the world do they consider this shoe to be new now? This kind of stuff gets on my nerves...don't entice me with an email claiming new items, and then show me the same old stuff that's been on the site for awhile already...it's almost as bad as leaving $null items in the sale section...almost

  10. I have a size 12 Lana top in Spiced Mustard and a size 32 Cropped Matchstick Jean. Both are new without tags (I took the tags off, my mistake). Let me know if anyone is interested.

I find the Size 12 Lana top to run large, if you normally wear a 14 I think this will fit you.

    Thanks!

  11. Hi, I am looking for the Emma dress in peacock, size 12, from last fall :-)

  12. FFM, I just got that email this morning, too - and my thoughts were the same. They're "introducing" it? Hmm, only to those people who haven't clicked on the website in weeks...seems pretty poorly thought through. Plus, isn't their fall collection finally going to be out sometime this week?

  13. Hi! Looking for the corrinne sweater in deep yellow in a size XS and the San telmo polka dot in a size 0! Thanks! Hope you all had an excellent weekend!

  14. According to my personal shopper at J.Crew, the Fall collection should be out on the sales floor by Thursday.

  15. newyork: have you tried calling Jcrew? I think they still have the Corinne jacket.

I have two items from last spring that were only worn once each.

The first is a shirt dress in a Henley style. It is belted with a full skirt that fall to just below the knee. Its a size 6 (i think I can check when I get home) which equals a size 4 for this year's styles.

I also have a spaghetti strap suiting dress, empire waist, full pleated skirt. I am pretty sure its in the super 120's material and it is lined. Its a size 8 but it ran super small and tight. Again if you are a size 4 this year I would think it would fit you.

Sorry I can't remember the names for either of these items. Let me know if you can or if you are interested.

    Thanks!

  16. La Belle Helene--heh, we have very similiar taste, it sounds like. I too am a huge fan of the azalea color, and last year I bought just about everything that J.Crew made in that peacock print--shoes, cardigan, sash, umbrella, hair clip, hair band. (I never wear more than two at a time though!) The Emma dress is the only thing I don't own and I've been eyeing it on eBay even though I suspect it won't work for my body type. Right now I think eBay has only a 6 but I do see it pop up occasionally there.

Blumre--what color is the spaghetti strap dress?

  19. I have an old JCrew dress that I've never worn. I bought it to wear at my wedding and then bought the Vivian Strapless instead. I don't remember the name but it is off white brocade, tea length, boatneck, with a small bow at empire height. Does anyone remember this dress? It's a size 6T and it's never been worn.

  20. Hi Katherine - I am interested in your city fit buttery twill trousers (8R) - what colors do you have? Thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  21. hexicon-i went crazy for the emma dress. got it on sale, the fit though is boxy, so you may not be missing anything. you need to size correctly for the shoulders but i find myself trying it on, and hanging it up...i did see a newscaster with it on once and she paried it with a navy blazer which worked I thought.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Hexicon,
Hah, I LOVE azalea - that's the first color I bought the Bella in, and I just adore it. I also have the skinny belt in azalea. I keep thinking of springing for a sweater in the color....

I am the same way about the Emma dress - It's not really a fit that works with my body (I prefer fitted sheaths), but I think the pattern is just darling. I didn't realize it came in so many items - I saw the shoes, but J.Crew shoes don't fit my feet at all. I wish I'd been able to get at least one item in the pattern.

    ReplyDelete
  23. MJ: No such luck at Tyson's II...but thanks for letting me know! :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. caw, that is exactly what concerns me about the Emma dress, that it's boxy. I have wide shoulders, so in dresses like that I usually have to size way up, and then it ends up looking like a muumuu on me...but dammit, that dress pattern just totally caught my eye :-)

  25. did someone say soft azelea bella? i bought it and love love it (have another one in the reddish) la belle helene-what other colors do you have?
I wish it weren't 90 today so I could wear it and "fall" back in love with jcrew again~I also bought the lexington in azelea...and a cashmere shruken shawl cardigan in AZALEA, lol.

Yes, that's exactly my feeling about the emma peacock, love the pattern, fabric but fit is a bit awkward...I feel like it would work for me when I get pregnant, for now, I'd like to look not pregnant :)

    ReplyDelete
  26. caw,
I bought the Bella jacket in heather azalea, and fell in love with it to the point I also bought the Bella in heather charcoal and black. They're just fabulous jackets. I wear them with so much, and always feel great when I put one on.

I know - I won't be able to put them on for at least another two months, probably more like October..

I looked and looked at the Lexingtons, but by the time they'd gone on sale (I couldn't justify full price after the three Bellas), they were all gone in my size. They looked so nice, though.

Azalea is definitely a great color. Let's hope J.Crew has remembered the color for fall and winter 2008 :-)

  27. Blumre: really? I don't see it online so didn't think of calling. It was available online this past weekend, but one of those that disappeared from the shoppping cart before you could even log in and make the purchase! Aarrrgggg! Thanks for the tip - I'll try calling and see what happens!

I just tried the KOP store for the san telmo jacket and the SA told me that they sent back most of their sales merchandise last night, I bet most stores did the same. Hopefully this means that the website will be listing alot more sale stuff soon and hopefully at better prices!

  29. la belle helene, what colors do you usually wear your soft azelea with? i got a 2nd one, the red on sale but also sat and drooled over other colors. The Lexington I did get on sale, and I am glad I did, I wear it less but still love it.
I also got that officer type blazer jacket? I forget the name, has interesting lapel and buttons. Got it on sale b/c it was nearing $300, yea right. That's what I am afraid of this fall, jacket prices keep rising and rising and rising!~
They are all well made but....

  30. MJ: Thanks for the heads up about the sale items...hopefully I will get my gift card by then and J.Crew will also have their act together! ;)

  31. Hi Anon at 10:14am,

The cropped matchsticks - I have worn them once in the house and I paid $37.50 for them. I'm willing to sell them for $25 plus shipping. Does that work for you?

    ReplyDelete
  32. caw, ooh, are you talking about the Oxford jacket - it has sort of a slanted front placket? I coveted that, but again, missed out when it went on sale (I've got to learn to be quicker!). What color did you get?

Under my azalea Bella, I usually wear a top in very light pink, or green or black. What colors do you match it with?

    ReplyDelete
  33. in case anyone out there love jcrew sweaters as much as I do, I just stepped out of a b&m and noticed the Jamie jacket (belted navy sweater w/4buttons in the front from this summer collection) is on sale for 79.99 plus extra 30% off. 37. la belle-that's the jacket indeed. Can't believe I forgot the name. I think I got it for like $75 at the end of the season. I have the FLAME and pair it with a light blue cash turtleneck. I lucked out, there was one in my size at the end of March-
I like your bella ideas-I actually do it with off white cords, dark browns, camel...now I have new colors. I think it also works with a crisp white oxford. PS. I also have the velvet bella in RIVERIA
PPS. I was at the outlet this weekend they have a bella like jacket in off white cord. Very poorly made. I almost got it but realized it was not like the real thing. I expect them to have a bella this season too in the factory line. Question is the quality and the cut are usually poor.

    ReplyDelete
  38. caw, wow, what a deal you got on the oxford!! That is great.

I'm not a big fan of the factory stuff overall. I don't go very often, and when I have, I think most of the stuff is subpar quality and overpriced at that. Occasionally there is a decent piece, but on the whole, I'd rather shop the regular sale.

Given how incredibly popular the Bella was last fall, J.crew would be foolish not to bring out another one :-)

    ReplyDelete
  39. MJ in VA: you can't do the San Telmo in 0 or 4? Both are available online (J.Crew) right now.

    ReplyDelete
  40. MJ: I normally wear a 4/6 in tops that have sleeves, and also in Jackets (due to my broad shoulders)...I sized up to a 6 on the San Telmo since that's all they had in my store, but I don't think a 4 would have fit me well, at all, since the 6 "just fits".

  41. Good morning aficionadas!!

I have a few more things on ebay - this time a little Denim Shoppe! :)

JCrew Dark Denim Trouser Jeans ($9.99)
    Item # 180268113256
I had these hemmed to a 31" inseam, so they fit like a 4S. I LOVE them but they are too big for me, as I've switched sizes. They run a little large, so if you're between a 4 and a 6 they should be perfect. I have only worn them TWICE (tragic) but I have washed them a few times to stop the dye from transferring onto my hands, white couch, car seat etc. :)

    Item # 180268107515
Gorgeous Rock and Republic Jeans, sz 29 ($39.99), all the information is on the ebay page, but they are SO SO adorable! I miss them and am desperately trying to replace them! :)

    Item# 180268117516
Sexy ADRIANO GOLDSCHMIED Casablanca Jeans sz 28 ($39.99) in a distressed dark wash. These are awesome jeans, just do not fit me. I wore them once, so they really are practically brand new.

Also, the Waverly jacket is still on there in size 4, beige, so pretty!

Let me know if you have any questions!
    :)

  42. BTW...the San Telmo was available in stores for $59.99 PLUS an extra 25% off, so ask for that price match over the phone if you decide to get it. I got mine at the Orlando store...407-226-9732. :)

  43. It was a great deal-I think they are going to do a great run of jackets. I can't wait. Agree about Factory, I go their hoping for the best (I live really close by and need to feed my addiction whenver I can!) but am disappointed for the same reasons. They best is when they get actual retail stuff, they used to get more but I have gotten a last season cash sweater for 30$. Problem is I also want THIS season so I end up back in retail. They did a jewerly line too and it's sooo awful. Sometimes I wonder who designs for Factory.

    ReplyDelete
  44. oops, meant there not their. Am at work so trying to do too many things :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. caw, I didn't realize they ever got actual retail stuff at the factory. I've never seen any at the one I sometimes go to. I wish they were just like Talbots, which has stores and then outlets that sell the items that were in the regular stores.

Not a fan of factory lines, overall. I've been in BR factory once or twice, and only needed 2-3 minutes to realize they didn't have anything I wanted. Pretty much the same with J.Crew factory.

    ReplyDelete
  46. BR factory is worse than JCrew I think!re: JCREW. The do get real retail but infrquently-it ends up in sale and is usually highly discounted. It's always last season but fine quality. It's hit or miss. Since I live close by I check it out and have gotten lucky. It's not amazing stuff though-I think I buy it for the thrill! I agree, wish factory stores were really OUTLETS. They started off that way but are not anymore. Didn't know talbots still did that. I used to remember the Benetton outlet, finding the real stuff but it had an impefection so made it to the outlet. The thing is, people buy all the outlet cr$p. It's always packed. I guess they just like it because of the name or something and don't have the keen eye that we do......

  48. alyson: My store in Charleston, SC, (864 297 2740 ) had a ton of buttery twill trousers in navy Friday evening. I didn't check the sizes since I just bought favorite fit navy, but since they had so many, you might get lucky.

I too loved the bella last year. I had the purple on waitlist, but it was so costly that I canceled the order. Then, I didn't get one when it went on sale. :( If they make another similar this year, I will probably have to get it, even at full price.

I have a size 12 Lana top in Spiced Mustard and a size 32 Cropped Matchstick Jean. Both are new without tags (I took the tags off, my mistake). Let me know if anyone is interested.

For the cropped matchstick jean - never worn out but I did try on in the house. I paid $37.50 for it and would be willing to sell for $25

I find the Size 12 Lana top to run large, if you normally wear a 14 I think this will fit you. I got the Lana top for $22.50, and I'd be willing to sell for $15 + shipping.

If anybody is interested please contact me at as01bc@hotmail.com

  56. vivian: I just got my fiona jacket and I love it! I'm happy with the papaya color. Now, how is everyone wearing theirs? 1st button buttoned, or all undone? I couldn't decide.

As far as the tartine, I would love multiple colors, too. I do wish it was washable, but it is so adorable! I will get the bright rhubarb for sure. Do you also like the dream ruffle herringbone? I do and hope it's still around in my size when it goes on sale.

As for the ecole, I do like it, just wish it had a little something special besides the cuffs. I have been in a yellow frame of mind lately, so I really like the honey glaze. I would have to try the color on, however, to see how it works.

Oh, I am so happy with my fiona! :)

  57. FFM,
I'm trying to decide on trying the Black San Telmo in a size 4 (normally I'm a 2). Did you ever try on the Waverly jacket? I took a 4 in that, so if the san telmo is running small I could maybe do a 4 in it as well.
Also, do you think they would do a price match if the items are no longer in the stores?
    MJ in VA

  58. hey everyone!

As always, I'm looking for a polka dot san telmo in a twelve...:)

    thanks!

    ReplyDelete
  59. They don't have the black San Telmo online anymore :(. It's okay, I'm really trying to be good until the new stuff appears!

    MJ in VA

    ReplyDelete
  60. MJ: I never tried on the Waverly Jacket, but I did buy the Tulip in a 4, and the Andy Jacket also fit me as a 4...I wonder if they would allow you to return it if it doesn't fit? I feel like it runs small personally...do you want measurements on the 6? The fit per size is usually about .25 to .5 inches difference in the measurements. I would also try for the price match with CS...even if they aren't in stores you could say that you know for sure it was at Orlando for the price I stated before. :)

    ReplyDelete
  61. MJ: Sorry, just saw your post about them not being available anymore...do you still want measurements in case they pop back up on another day?

    ReplyDelete
  62. hey math teacher: So happy to hear you love your Fiona!! I think the Fiona is prettier unbuttoned. What have you worn yours with so far?

The dream ruffle herringbone is scrumptious too! My husband says I'd buy anything if it comes with ruffles.

The Ecole - the catalog shows it with cuffs, but I'm not sure if that just a plain sleeve rolled up for the camera. Any ideas?

I have too many yellow things in my closet too!! I'm thinking of tawny olive and maybe burgundy. I wonder if a black velvet jacket is boring, even if it's a classic.

    ReplyDelete
  63. MJ: Sorry the san telmo is out online. For future reference, maybe: I have the san telmo in both 0 (black) and 2 (polka dot). Compared to the waverly and tulip, I would say the san telmo run a little smaller, especially because it's very structured. So going up a size may be good.

    ReplyDelete
  64. vivian: the fiona jacket just arrived at my house about 15 minutes ago, so I've only tried it on. I liked it unbuttoned, but thought I'd ask how others were wearing it. Right now, it's over 100 with the heat index, so it will be quite awhile until I wear it. Maybe once school starts, since my room tends to be on the cool side.

The two colors you mentioned in the ecole are my next 2 favorite. In fact, I almost mentioned the tawny olive. And, the burgandy is so pretty. There is absolutely nothing wrong with black, it's just so classic!

I am a ruffle girl, too. I can't even tell you how many shirts I have with ruffles on them! :) I have to make myself look at other things when I see a ruffle. However, I have no sweaters with ruffles, so I can buy those with a clear conscience. :)

    ReplyDelete
  65. math teacher: I haven't had a chance to wear my Fiona either. It's 100 degrees here too. I think I told you how I would put in on every day for a few minutes just to savor it :)

I have the linen ruffle cardigan. It's machine washable. I thought of going multiple colors in it but after seeing the Tartine, I'm not sure. It's a different kind of ruffles, but it's nice to be washable.

    ReplyDelete
  66. In fact, I haven't worn a single jacket I bought this season - waverly, fiona (in plaid too), san telmos, tulip, candace, kelly, madras, & katie...

    ReplyDelete
  67. Thanks FFM and Vivian for the info and sympathy.

FFM: Yes, if you could provide the measurements on your 6 it would be great! Maybe it will pop back up again .. .
It's been very hard for me not to order anything online, but I am still scared to use the website and I have been burned so many times on this final sale situation . .. J crew's sizing is so inconsistent! Sometimes I'm a 0, sometimes a 2 and sometimes a 4. There's just no way to tell without trying it on first.

    MJ in VA

    ReplyDelete
  68. vivian: So not only do you like ruffles, you also like jackets. :) I was a little bummed at first that I didn't find the fiona in pale almond, but I am in love with a khaki colored jacket at J Jill. I don't normally shop there (in fact, I've never bought anything from there), but I went in with a friend last week, tried it on, and fell in love! Now to wait for it to go on sale.

Is the linen ruffle sweater on sale now? I don't remember seeing it. I'll have to go look. Wouldn't a jacket with ruffles be great? That's why I wish they'd make the crewcuts jacket for us. :)

    ReplyDelete
  69. vivian: ooh, love the linen ruffle cardigan! How did I miss it? Which color do you have? Have you washed it yet? Does it wash nicely? I might keep an eye on that one to go on sale, too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  70. MJ: The shoulder measurement on the San Telmo 6 is 15.5, so the 4 is probably 15.25. :) You could call CS and ask for sure, too. x

  71. I just received my tulip jacket in flax, and was wondering if you guys had any recommendations on how to wear it? Same for the Black San Telmo (which i LOVE! I'm surprised at how much I love it!)

I had to size down for both, normally a 12 in Jcrew jackets, bought San Telmo in a 10 and Tulip in an 8.

  72. I have a Black Gramercy Coat, brand new with tags, in a size 6 available if anyone is interested.

I am looking for a size 8 or 10 in the Rugby Tafetta Skirt in the Papaya colorway. J Crew cancelled both my skirts. I need it. I am in the wedding party and the other 4 girls are wearing it and if I can't get one, I'm going to be in such trouble with my sister!!!

    Can someone help?

  73. Hi, sorry if this has been explained in other posts, but I am confused about how people are referencing new items (such as Ecole jacket) from the Fall collection. How have you been able to see them/get your hands on a catalog? I am so anxious to see them myself! Thanks!

  79. aisha: Congrats on the Tulip and the San Telmo...I have the Tulip in Bright Flame, and would love to have it in Flax or Navy, as well.

I think the Flax Tulip would look pretty with black pants and a white tank/tee...you could also do white pants with a black, navy, orange, basically any color you want tank or tee, as the flax is definitely a neutral color that you can pair with almost anything. It would also look cute with capris or shorts in the above mentioned colors, OR if you like to wear color on the bottom half, then you could do a bright colored short or capri, such as orange, and wear a navy tank/tee with the jacket...very cute! :)

For the San Telmo: I plan to wear it this Fall with gray pants and a white tank/tee/turtleneck...white pants with a black and white striped tank...dark trouser jeans with a tan tee or turtleneck...the lining has the tan, white, and brown, as well as purple. Any of those colors look pretty with it, as well as dark brown to bring out the brown of the buttons at the front and the back of the jacket. :) Hope this helps!

I also have the Avery cardigan waitlisted - only the navy was on sale, so it was $59.99 and I got an additional 20% off. I'm waiting for markdowns to get other colors for these two styles of cardigans. If you see them on sale, please let me know!!

Guess you know by now I'm into ruffles :)

Could you send me a link of the JJill jacket????

  83. vivian: Here's the link to the JJill jacket. It doesn't look that special in the picture, but it was adorable on! It fit really well, and looked good with the middle button done or all undone.

  89. Those with Tulip jackets for sale...how do they fit? I am a size 8 with broad shoulders and long arms, so I usually need a "tall" in jackets (though I realize the Tulip doesn't run in tall sizes). Sleeves aren't an issue on Tulip since they're 3/4-length, but I'm wondering if it would fit my shoulders. I love the way the jackets look!

  90. I have a Navy Toulouse Sweater Jacket in a size Small with the tags still on - never wore it and paid89.99! Let me know if you are interested. rlm26@case.edu

  92. morning! Just a quick note that the auction on my size 4 Waverly Jacket in Beige ends today, I have lowered the price to $39.99, which is great especially since I was only able to wear the jacket once! In case any of you are looking for one, it's ebay item #: 180267166454

    happy wednesday!
p.s. the fall look book is soooo amazing!!!

  93. Annette - I found I sized down for the tulip, I normally wear a 10/12 in Jcrew jackets and I bought this one in an 8. I also have broad shoulders and I found the regular size 8 worked fine. The jacket itself has 3/4 length sleeves so I don't think you would need the tall (btw it did come in a tall, I think its just sold out)

Also, a quick tip if you are a little busty - I wasn't sure what to do with my tulip b/c if I left it unbuttoned, it makes me look huge on my upper half and if I buttoned it, it flares out oddly above my chest. What I am now going to do is attach a hook and eye closure just below my bust to wear the jacket buttoned up. It looks very nice this way and gives a longer, leaner line. Just wanted to share! (lock and load for anyone who watches what not to wear!)
    Hope that helps!!

  97. hello aficionadas! :)

well, my Elizabeth halter sold but then the buyer reneged. Supposedly she is in the hospital. So I hope she feels better, and I'm sure when she does she will be really sad not to have this shirt!

It's yellow, size S, the one with the pockets on the seam. New, never worn, no tags (because in my excitement I ripped them off and hung the shirt up, only to try to wear it a few days later and realize it is too big! :)

    here's the item # if you're interested: 18026908419

hope you're all having a great week!

  99. Does anyone have the striped katie sweater in navy or even the katie sweater in navy and small? I've been stalking ebay and I missed one chance. I really don't want to pay $50 plus shipping for it.

  100. I'm looking for the merino links-print cardigan (item 89433) in size XL. It's been months since it was available online and I still think about it on a regular basis!

  101. I am still looking for the strapless pique dress with front pockets in a size 0. they had one on ebay, but 75 dollars for a dress that was 29.99 online is way too much. If anyone has one or seen one that would be great.

  102. Bodoni88-I have the strapless pique dress in the sour lemon size 0. I wore it once a couple weeks ago for a few hours, washed it and laid it flat to dry and it's been in my closet ever since. I like it but don't really need it so I don't know if you'd be interested in it. Let me know if you are, I'm at 2monsters@live.com

  103. Anyone have a Baird McNutt linen jacket in navy in 2 or 4 that they are looking to unload?

  104. If anybody is interested in the Favorite-Fit Super 120s Ludlow Suiting Trousers, I just listed 4 of them on Ebay this morning - I had purchased them in a size 12 which ended up being too big for me, and with all of Jcrew's shipping/return problems I thought it might be easier just to resell them on my own than return and wait for them to credit me.

They are listed on ebay.ca, and I have them in all 4 colours (navy, coal, espresso and black) in a size 12. Brand new and never worn, with tags still attached, for $24.99. If anyone is interested, the item numbers are as follows:
    300245266392
    300245266711
    300245267643
    300245268009

I'm sorry for posting this on here, its just that I just listed them today and in the past, I haven't been able to sell anything - I just realized today its b/c I can only seem to list on Ebay Canada, and not the main Ebay site...I know there are some Canadians on this site so if you are interested at all, msg me on ebay and bid away! I also have a size 32 Cropped Matchstick Jean and a size 12 Lana top for sale as well.

    Thanks!!!

  105. I'm been looking for some of those merino ruffle cardigans (would love the soft azalea) in a size Small. Ebay has them for 50 plus shipping - don't want to pay that much so if you have some you want to unload let me know. THanks! rlm26@case.edu

  106. jcrewbug: those are listed in the sale section right now online for 60. In the sweaters section. For small, they had brilliant blue, orange, and soft azalea. And someone else was saying the 20% off coupon was still working on sale items...

    ReplyDelete
  107. Kater: Thanks, I had seen that but There is something about paying $8.50 shipping that drives me crazy. Almost negates the 20% off. There is one on ebay for 49.99 plus shipping that would work out a bit cheaper. I'm waiting to see if that one sells at that price or they relist for a little less. Thanks for your help!
