J.Crew Comments on Current Situation

There is a comment on the "Sale: The best ever... Really?" post that could or could not be from J.Crew. I believe that it is from a JCrew representative because of the style of writing and a few other reasons. :) Here is the comment in its entirety:

Dear Aficionadas:

More than anyone else in the blogosphere, you’re probably aware that we’re upgrading our website. Good things take time and effort, and we’re putting the finishing touches on what we hope will be a more comprehensive and user-friendly site to make your lives easier. We want you to know that during this time, all of your comments, feedback and observations have been incredibly helpful to us. And of course, we’re grateful for your patience.

We’re looking into each and every suggestion that you’ve had, and we’re working on fine-tuning our site with the help of your invaluable feedback.

Please make sure to take advantage of our free shipping offer with code FREESHIP. (And based on your online poll results, we’ve decided there’s no minimum required for this offer – thanks for the insight!).

So hang in there and let us know what you think of the soon-to-be-fully-re-launched jcrew.com. We hope you’ll be as excited as we are.

All the best,

J.Crew

What do you all think about the comment? Are you excited by the company (potentially) noticing this blog?

  1. Wow Alexis: I'm not sure what to think...hope you can check the IP address...let us know what happens!

  2. Repeating what I wrote on the old post. :)

I agree, a real extension, email address or employee's name would go a long way to validating this post.

You can see if the IP address for the post matches up with J.Crew headquarters.

(My instinct says that this might not be real... I have to assume that J.Crew technicians have more on their mind that thanking bloggers right now, but we can definitely hope!)

  3. I think it's BS.... I just chose the Sophia dress in a petite from the sale section. The price was listed at $99.99 (regulars are $59.99)....When I placed it in my "shopping bag" imagine my surprise when the price jumped up to $139.99!!! Looks like instead of taking off of your order, they're adding (probably to make up for the free shipping!)

  4. FabulousFloridaMommy, pixel girl, msm, and others: I am in the process of trying to look up the IP address. :)

  5. Okay- I tried to find out how to find an IP address for a comment on a blog, and I cannot seem to find one (or at least without inserting some code into the template, but it would be too late to apply it to the J.Crew comment.) If someone has a suggestion of how I can find the IP address through Blogger.com's blogs, then please do share! I would be curious to find out how. Thanks! :)

  6. Okay- I am a little more inclined to believe the comment is real because of Mimi's (6:00 PM) comment in the Sale: The best ever... Really? post. She just wrote, "It's real."

Wasn't she also the same Mimi in the J.Crew: Website's Going to Come Back post that wrote (at 10:49 AM) "It's going to be awesome. I'll leave it at that. :)"

She came off then like an employee of J.Crew. Maybe she is, and that's how she knows.

I don't know for sure. But this is a good lesson for J.Crew: if you want to post on this blog you need some "verification"- or we will question your validity! ;)

    ReplyDelete
  7. I don't believe it... Who knows if Mimi works for J.Crew or not. She also said the new site was going to be awesome, and we see how that turned out!

    ReplyDelete
  8. If it's not real, I feel bad for the person who spent the time scheming it up! I have noticed that the site is operating much better today, now they just have to get their stock availability and searching up to par!

  9. I think it's kinda creepy, like big brother is watching you. At the same time, the blog is open to everyone. So J Crew employees could be keeping tabs on this blog. It's a possibility, but I'm apprehensive to say that they're willing to spend the time doing that. If they do, they must really value customer input.

  10. fabulousfloridamommy: thanks so much for the tip on the madras jacket in the other post, price dropped to 49.99, I just called my store which is still running 25% off and they are holding it for me! $37.50!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  11. Cheri: are you talking about the tip to wait for it to go on sale? I have never seen the jacket in person or tried it on, so I can't give a review for it. There was an anonymous poster who made this comment about the jacket though:

    Anonymous said...
"Please don't get the Madras jacket. It's frumpy, and adds bulk to my body - maybe because of the pattern. It's unlined and the piece I got has some kind of funny metallic thread poking everywhere. I called CS and they said they'll take it back although it's final sale.

    July 1, 2008 2:25 PM"

I think based on that, it is really great that you will be able to actually try it on in the store before committing to the Final Sale. The price is really, really great now...so I hope it works for you...let me know! :)

    ReplyDelete
  12. fabulousfloridamommy: Yes, I was talking about how you mentioned it had gone to 49.99, it was just at 99.99 like yesterday. I wonder if that comment was about the Fiona Madras Jacket which I bought on final sale a few weeks back and sold on eBay because it was indeed unlined and frumpy. Lucky for me I can try it on first, you are right! I will let you know how it works out!

    ReplyDelete
  13. oops I forgot to say, the madras jacket we are talking about is LINED, that's why I think that comment was about the Fiona Madras Jacket.

  14. Well, if Big Brother really is watching, I have the following suggestions for the website (in addition to ironing out obvious bugs like slow load times, women's items in men's section, search by size not accurate in real-time, pricing glitches, random error message pages, search errors, etc.):

    - "Display: All" option (I mean really, who is going to select "display up to 45 results," that just seems pointless).

    - Selection of numeric sizes should automatically display results in the corresponding SML size (e.g., selecting "0" should automatically display "XS" items as well). Otherwise, one should be able to select multiple size options at once (see below).

    - Ability to search by multiple sizes at once, which could be done in a few different ways: (1) as on BR's site, allowing one dropdown size selection per item type, but enabling search for all types of items simultaneously (e.g., Tops-0(XS), Bottoms-0(XS), Bottoms-Short, Shoes-7, etc.), or (2) as on ShopStyle, which allows the selection and display of multiple sizes at once (e.g., 0, P0, 2, 0S, XS, S).

    - Website customization for registered users, including sizing and display preferences.

    - Automatic e-mail notification when an item becomes available in a certain size/color.

I have a few other suggestions, but I'll need to follow-up later.

  15. "I second" Danielle's suggestions! :) (Danielle- great job with the list- you hit on a lot of my issues as well.)

    ReplyDelete
  16. I think that they should just close the website down completely until its fully ready. Personally, I'm getting irritated that the searching aspect sucks, I can't even check out, and half the items take forever to load. Its a complete tease and waste of time.

I think that when they complete "updating" the website and are ready to open it back up, they should really make the sale the BEST SALE YET (with additional % off) and STILL offer freeship. Now, I would buy a lot of stuff.

However, thats in my perfect world. ha.

  17. I am sure it came from J Crew - I am sure they have people out there reading every blog that mentions their name. I am sure like every business and marketing person out there these days they use google alerts and if you have j.crew in a post they will pick it up and read it. That's how they picked up my "love note" to them. They know what they are doing and they don't want to lose their fans!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I totally agree with everything Danielle just said. I HATE only viewing 90 items out of 140. Thats just stupid. VIEW all please!

    ReplyDelete
  19. of course it is from the real deal - they are like the big brother and your comment tells me you have no clue.

    ReplyDelete
  20. are you seriuos? you really have no clue do you?

    ReplyDelete
  21. So I have a question - how are you eligible for an educator's discount and how do you go about applying it to your order? I work for a University...I'm not a teacher but I wonder if it falls under the same category?

    Thanks!!!

    ReplyDelete
  22. They certainly took down retailmenot.com, so I guess they do monitor the internet. No idea whether that particular remark was real.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Anonymous at 8:05PM: Who are you referring to in the "you really have no clue do you?" remark: me or J.Crew?

Anonymous at 8:04PM: Me too! I like seeing all the items in one page.

Monica: I just show them my university ID and explain that I am not a student, but a professor and that my email shows that I am not a student. maybe you can do the same.

Anonymous at 8:08PM: Good point about Retailmenot. But retailmenot is a lot bigger, and well known, this tiny little ol' blog. :)

    ReplyDelete
  24. Whoops, messed up the last line in my last comment, meant to write:

"But retailmenot is a lot bigger, and well known, THAN this tiny little ol' blog. :)"

    ReplyDelete
  25. what happened at retailmenot?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Anonymous at 8:18 PM: J.Crew requested Retailmenot to remove all user submitted coupon codes. It was THE best site (at the time) to get the latest coupon codes. It was a great community of sharing. (Which I did plenty of times actually.) :)

  27. Thanks Alexis, is the educator discount good on phone/internet orders or only in brick & mortar stores? Our closest JCrew is over 3 hours away :(

    ReplyDelete
  28. mehhh, it sounds creepy and overbearing, which means it's the real corporate deal! They should have had their stuff at least 85% together before moving forward with the new site. 'Better than ever?' Not when so many things listed are no longer even available.

    ReplyDelete
  29. Hi Monica! I was always under the impression that the educator's discount was good on red phone orders and in brick & mortar stores (because someone has to check/verify your status). But if we can use it over the phone from home, then fantastic! (But I have never done it.) :)

Heather: I agree that they definitely needed to get their act together before re-launching the new site- to avoid all that is happening now. As for whether this is real- part of me would be really happy since that means they are listening to our concerns. The other part of me is concerned (that they might use some of the info we share against us).

    ReplyDelete
  30. Alexis: I read this comment on the "sale" post you had earlier today. I think J Crew should give you free shipping for life for starting this blog.

But that is great that they actually read this. And I think using BR's/Gap's shipping policy would be great or Amazon's. Those company's seem to have it figured out. But also an occasional $50 minimum code would make me happy!

Way to go Alexis on creating this community and giving us all a virtual soap box

    ReplyDelete
  31. Blumre: I would love free shipping for life! What a fantastic perk!!! :)

Also, thanks for the super nice comment. I am just excited that there are other fans of J.Crew out there like me. (For awhile, I thought I was the only one who did certain things, like wake up at 6:45AM to check the sale pages).

I also have to say, that I really like the visitors/members of this blog. You have all been super nice and helpful. :)

    ReplyDelete
  32. Haha Alexis: my friends keep trying to stage an intervention for me. So I truly did feel like th only one sometimes... but I also went to prep school so its cheaper than vineyard vines and some other "prep" stores.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Blumre: An intervention- too funny! You should tell your friends now that you aren't the only one- that it is normal to love J.Crew. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. Haha--- I will work on that.

Well Cause Friday is the 4th I dont know if we will actually get paid this week! And I soooo want that Madras jacket (49.99) one. but I so can't afford it until I know for sure when my check is coming in :( and the worst part is I know it will be on e-bay in two days!

    ReplyDelete
  35. I will have to give calling the order in a shot - I will let you know how that works out.

I wish that we had a b&m store closer...You would think being in a University town we would have better shopping. It's sad here where I am from!

    ReplyDelete
  36. blumre: You should check with your payroll department, but for the company I work for, we're getting paid on Thursday (3rd) instead.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Monica & Alexis- You can use the educator's discount when you call in any order. Whoever takes your order will transfer you to customer service after you place your order and you will need to give them an education related email address (like something with XXXX@.edu). This acts as verification for them. I have done this MANY times and never have had a problem!

    ReplyDelete
  38. ohhh! Awesome - thanks anon @ 9:13! That certainly gives me verification to place my pending order!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I just hope they take all the comments about the "new and improved" website into consideration. I also believe they should just shut the site down until it is all worked out.

On another note, how do the peep toe maryjanes fit? I cried great, big salty tears because the cristobal sandals (metallic) were too narrow for my feet. They were so pretty and just the shoe I needed in my life. I wish J. Crew shoes came in multiple widths, though I don't think my feet are that wide. Maybe because I wear a 7 1/2?

    ReplyDelete
  40. I actually also use the educators discount on a regular basis when i call and I used my student one when I was getting my masters. Thank god they have it or I could never shop there.

See my school is closed on thursday too... so I have no idea what is going on. Arg

    ReplyDelete
  41. Anonymous at 9:13PM: Thank you so much for letting me know!!! I can't believe how many online orders I have made without applying the educator's code! Well no more! :)

Jax: I hope they take the comments (like Daniel's) into consideration as well. I also hope they don't remove the perks that we have come to know and love (and give them so much credit for!) :)

Also, sorry to hear about the peep toe maryjanes. :( They are so pretty too.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I don't know if it's just me, but I can't fit into j crew shoes. I don't have particularly wide feet or really wide feet at all. It just seems like j crew shoes tend to run on the narrower side. That might just be my experience though and I wear an 8 1/2.

    ReplyDelete
  43. aly the shoes are narrow. I actually like their shoes because they are narrow. But mostly i can only buy their flats... my boyfriend and I are only 3 inches apart and being taller than he is, is not an option. I would rather not buy shoes b/c I can't fit than because they make me too tall. Really J crew what is wrong with a 2 inch heel?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Aly: I agree with Blumre that their shoes run narrow and I like that they do as well. (Blumre, I also like their flats. I have about 20 pairs of J.Crew flats alone! I have a whole bunch from other brands as well.)

But Aly, I noticed on their "new" website that they are listing "medium" along the size of the shoe. Maybe that means in the future they will carry additional widths. :)

    ReplyDelete
  45. Alexis, I just have to say, you are such a good moderator! Very even tempered and you listen to everyone concerns. :)

    ReplyDelete
  46. Thanks Heather! That was super nice of you. I will say, I have been very lucky with the group of visitors/members of this blog: you have all made it a delight to be a part of this group. :)

    ReplyDelete
  47. Thanks Alexis! You're the best. I will be so happy if J Crew starts to carry multiple widths because their shoes are so cute and I can never fit in them comfortably.

What do people think of the driving mocs (kingston or york) though? Those seem like they might not be as narrow.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Aly: If they made shoes in additional widths, particularly in a wide width, I might cry tears of joy. It is SO difficult to find cute shoes that also fit my freakishly wide feet :P

I LOVE the driving mocs (either kind)! The toes look rounder than the others ... maybe worth a shot if your foot is slightly wide.

Question: are shoes available in any stores so you can try them on?

    ReplyDelete
  49. Aly: While not a j crew shoe I find bandolino (sp?) to be pretty good about width (esp since easy spirit bought them). Some of their shoes are actually cute. You should try them.

OMG alexis: I think I maybe own 30 pairs total and that includes two pairs of ski boots and snow boots and horseback riding boots. Where do you keep them all???? You closet must be gi-normous!

    ReplyDelete
  50. aly - I have the york driving mocs and actually find them to be wider than the average j. crew flat (possibly even a little wide for my narrow feet). They are still pretty comfortable though, though I wish that all their flats had a little more padding.

    ReplyDelete
  51. Michelle: There are two stores within 30 minutes, but I've only been to one and they didn't have too many shoes there. I'm going to try the other one this weekend. I'll let you know how it goes. It'd be amazing if they have them in stores on sale because of the additional 25% off.

    ReplyDelete
  52. Oops. The above comment is me.

Thanks layla for the info. Hopefully I find them at the store.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Alexis your comment made me laugh! Esp as I am on the phone with J crew right now. And just bought the madras jacket. They couldn't do the 25% off that I would get in a store but I did get my educators discount and free shipping. I also explained to her that while I used to always be a solid 6 in their jackets lately their sizes have changed again and I now seem to be a 4 and I have a special note that I can return it if I don't want it.

Aly: I agree the driving mocs are forgiving because the leather is such a superior quality (its like butter). Also some of their flats are fabric and not leather... look into those.

Personally I wanted the bromley boot so badly but they sold out before I could blink. I was even going to use my chanukah $ to buy them full price and they were gone so quickly. I am hoping something similar will come back this year!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Blumre: Congrats on the madras jacket PLUS the discount PLUS free shipping. That is a super sweet deal!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Well my price its as good as Cheri's. Also apparently its not coming up as final sale in their database at the calling center. But I had them put the note in anyway... just in case.
Cheri and FFM- thanks so much for the tip off. Cheri- I hope we both love our jackets.

I do think the look is supposed to be a little frumpy and wrinkled... but you could always get it dry cleaned and that would make it less frumpy. I do that with a non-lined wrap jacket (cant remember the name) that I got last summer. It works like a charm

    ReplyDelete
  56. oops where I said my price "its" --- its supposed to say isn't. SORRY

    ReplyDelete
  57. I hope that J.Crew will remove the Refined canvas Fiona jacket for $49.99 out of their sale section. I keep clicking on the item page link only to see "now $null"- I hate to be teased like that. :)

    ReplyDelete
  58. I also have both the Kingston and the York driving mocs. I love both of them a lot. The width is definitely wider than other shoes so I sized mine down to a 6 (I normally wear about a half size up). The York ones rubbed against my heel for the first couple of days but now have stretched a little and feel great. They are easily some of my favorite shoes!

    ReplyDelete
  59. Wow, I have never called customer service before and they're amazing. A very nice girl picked up in less than a minute and added my student discount to a order I had placed a couple of days ago. I'm so excited!

    ________________________________

Anyone can put a name on a blog response. I could sign this thing John O'Dell or Tony Brown or Millard Drexler, but it wouldn't make it any more official.

If this person is a J.Crew employee and posted their corporate e-mail account or phone number, do you have any idea how many voicemails and e-mail messages they would get, especially seeing as how this blog is the second search result on Google for "jcrew website down?" It would be unreal! They have a Customer Service phone number and e-mail address for this, and I can only imagine they are swamped right now. One person could never hope to answer them all alone.

The post from J.Crew was legit.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I agree the post was legit. And consider this fellow readers, how can it be creepy and Big Brother when you've asked j.crew to eavesdrop, simply by having the blog here in public space for consumption?

Comment on the madras jacket: I purchased that tonight for $37.50 and it is fabulous! Doesn't look frumpy, the fit is great. Go for it if you see it. My sister ran out when I got home because she saw it on me and loved it so much (good thing they had her size.)

    ReplyDelete
  62. This is totally random, but does anyone own the Jessie blouse? Item #93959. I was thinking about purchasing it, but the material is a typical cotton that stretches. So I'm really unsure about what size to get, considering my size in jcrew is always changing!

    ReplyDelete
  63. Thanks goinggreen! You've made me really impatient though...OH and ups takes sooo long!

I live in an apt building with over 70 apts and the UPS guy knows me even though our doorman always signs. I saw him tonight and he looked at me and "said nothing today." thank god I am not expecting anything for a while ;)

Sorry to cristin-- I dont know anything about the blouse. Maybe call in and ask. the CS reps normally know about fabrics.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I'll have to do that. Thanks Blumre!

    ReplyDelete
  65. jcrewmommy - thanks for the tip on the Joelle Blouse! I really wanted the regal purple but it is s/o in my size so I'm going to go with the papaya!!

    ReplyDelete
  66. cristin: I have the Jessie blouse in a 2 and it fits perfectly. You can tie it in the middle, so there's a little leeway. I'm normally a 4 or small and sometimes a 2 when a shirt runs bigger. I hope this helps.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I don't know if Jax will still be able to read this - I'm so sorry to hear about the Cristobal sandals but I just recently bought a pair of the peeptoe maryjanes and I, too, am usually more comfortable with a wider width (I'm a 6.5 for most, if not all shoes). However, with J.Crew shoes, I just found that if I get a size 7, the shoes fit fine. I have a bunch of the ballet flats, espadrilles and the beautiful vachetta heels from last year's spring season - all in size 7.

The maryjanes I got were in size 7, and they fit beautifully and are very comfortable.

I just take care in choosing what kind of shoes (and what kind of material) I'm selecting from J.Crew. First, I was afraid that the patent would be too stiff, but decided that I'd get them especially since I had fit a pair of the regular patent maryjanes in the store and they felt fine.

I usually don't purchase the strappy sandals since I know that they'll be digging into my wide feet in no time!

    I feel like I'm babbling...sorry...

    ReplyDelete
  68. I want to order the jessie blouse too, particularly the one the model in the morocco catalog is wearing. does anyone know what color that blouse is-is it the citron or the moss green? I just can't tell, maybe I'm a little color blind. Thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Hi Alex, Thank you very much for sharing the email from J.Crew. Although I am still frustrated about my missing order, this email made me feel so much better... Also, I'd like to thank J.Crew stuff who took a time to wrote this email (if it is real one).

    ReplyDelete
  70. FFM: I wrote about my defective smoke smelling jacket that JCrew sent me. Finally got an answer to my email. They said I can return it and get a refund IF it is found to be defective. (I am allergic to smoke and have had it outside since b/c it reeks and smells up the room it it in). It still smells but I am just upset that I got an IF comment. I don't have time to be on hold and wait for reps during my day...so rely on email.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I still have not bought a thing from JCrew...store or online. They messed up my Friday order and I am upset. I don't understand how a company can operate like this. I see others are still buying like crazy but I have lost my interest. I normally send about $1,000 a month there. That ends now.

    ReplyDelete
  72. SPEND not send:)

    ReplyDelete
  73. Does anyone know what OPEN and SUBMITTED mean when they check order status online???? This is written next to my item. Thanks:)

    ReplyDelete
  74. I have been trying ofr 30 minutes to check out and can't. It won't take my gift card, there are so many steps and I am so ready to scream. I could have been done and out in a minute the old way. I hate JCrew right now! Thanks for letting me rant. I had a $200 and I can't place it. I am off to exercise instead.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I have never received an email from JCrew without a name attached to it. Hmmmm??

    ReplyDelete
  76. Thank you everyone for answering my shoe question. Maybe one of the stores near me will have a pair I can try. I so want a pair of shiny green shoes.

    ReplyDelete
  77. Cristin - Re: the Jessie blouse - I actually bought and returned the Jessie blouse because it ran long in the torso for me. I am 5'4", so it could be that I needed a petite, but otherwise it was perfect. The material isn't just cotton; I think it has some silk in it. It's kind of sheer, but I had the golden moss color and it seemed like if you had a cami underneath it would be ok. I was upset about the blouse because I really liked it, but when I called the CS she wasn't that helpful with the sizing and since it's on final sale now I didn't want to take a chance. Anyway, I hope that helped.

    ReplyDelete
  78. Cristin - BTW, I agree with aly that the Jessie blouse runs large. I am normally a 6, but the 4 was too big for me.

    ReplyDelete
  79. I'm the one who got the madras mini-patchwork jacket and am returning it. It's partially lined around the shoulders and sleeves. It doesn;t work for me, but I'm happy it does for you!

I got CS to OK the return the day before the price dropped to 49.99. I bought it for 99.99. I assume they'll refund me what I paid for it instead of 49.99, right?

I still have to wait for my receipt. That order arrived without a packing slip.

    -- Vivian

    ReplyDelete
  80. Vivian: Yes, they should credit you the price YOU paid, and not the current selling price...are you able to go into your online profile and pull the order up? You could then print that out, or do you still have the confirmation email J.Crew sent you showing the price? You could probably use one of those methods as a receipt if you don't want to wait for the other to arrive. :)

    ReplyDelete
  81. OPEN means the order has been sent to the distribution center. Next step is shipping. When the order ships, it will say COMPLETE.

    SUBMITTED means it's being processed.

    ReplyDelete
  82. FabulousFloridaMommy:

Thanks for the great tip!! Yes, I can pull up my order online and I have the email confirmation.

    -- Vivian

    ReplyDelete
  83. Does anyone get shipping notification by email with the new system? I don't - looks my packages shipped but I don't get any shipping confirmation like I used to do under the old system.

    -- Vivian

    ReplyDelete
  84. Anon with the Smoky Smelling Jacket: PLEASE DO NOT ACCEPT THAT ANSWER...you received an obviously bad item, and they need to accept your return. Do you live near a store? If so, please take it there and explain the situation to the manager. Do not ask to return it, but tell them you ARE returning it because the condition it arrived to you is NOT acceptable. Otherwise, please try to call CS, as I think that being able to explain over the phone to a live person works better than through email. Please let us know what happens...GOOD LUCK!

  85. Thanks for the email FFM:) I don't live near a store but I will try and call...I like your idea of saying....I am returning it--firmly.

I really can't believe a company like JCrew could send out your madras shorts and this jacket. It is unthinkable to me!

  86. Alexis - regarding your last comment at 8:16 pm, yes retailmenot is bigger, but you clearly have a dedicated following of J. Crew shoppers. And at the moment you seem to be the best source of coupon codes. If they are looking for sites that distribute coupons, they could easily find you - for instance, if you google "jcrew IJN-160" (which is what I do when I'm looking for new coupon sites - look for the ones posting the current coupons) your site is the first hit. :)

  87. In reference to the smoky smelling jacket, and to fab. florida mommy who advises to "tell them you're returning it" rather than asking, I'd just like to advise you that you do not need to be firm or tell anyone what you are doing, just explain the situation and most of all BE FRIENDLY and not demanding. Nobody wants to help anyone who is demanding. If the jacket is defective, of course they'll accomodate you.

  88. To Monica, or anyone else interested in the Teacher discount. The teacher discount is only available in store or when placing a red phone order in store, its not available through internet orders or catalog orders from home. You must show either a photo id issued by your school or university, OR a paystub. No IDs without a photo will be accepted and you must have the ID at the time of the purchase (the discount may not be applied to a previous purchase.)

  89. Anon @ 10:48pm: I was not telling the anon with the smokey jacket to be "demanding", as you put it...if you have spent anytime on here, you would know that I am always FRIENDLY to the CS Reps, as well as my store employees and Managers. I simply said she really shouldn't have to "ask" to return it, but state that she "is" returning it due to the condition it arrived in...I never meant for her to be MEAN and DEMANDING about it. A person can simply state their case while being NICE and POLITE...that was the advice I had given...you apparently have misinterpreted what I wrote.

  90. Anonymous at 10:48PM: I just have to echo FabulousFloridaMommy's point that there might have been some misinterpretation of the comment. :)

FabulousFloridaMommy has been a great asset to this blog: always helpful, super insightful, very friendly to all of us here. She has also posted numerous times how great JCrew CS is, how she feels sorry for them during this website fiasco, and how we should be nice to them since they are so nice with us. :)

  91. FFM: No worries......I understood what you meant in a nice way...I am a nice, calm person and I understand that you meant to be firm but kind....no worries:) Got it:) :) :)

  92. Alexis:

you answered one of my unasked questions: I'm also a ph.d candidate (though in English). Since I'm both a student (I take class) and a teacher (I teach college classes), I wasn't sure what discount would apply to me.

to get your educator's discount, was it sufficient to show your student ID, or did you need additional proof?

(and I completely agree with you on feeling like you're going nowhere! *grins* hence, my procrastination on this blog...)

Not true. If you place an order online, send an e-mail with your confirmation number and they will apply the discount. The e-mail must be sent from your school address. Same with the student discount.
